Re: Crazy Baby Names!

  • So how are people going to type that on forms and things?  How is he going to fill in the bubble for his middle initial on a standardized test?

    I don't know....don't shoot the messenger!! LOL

Is it bad that I like Lavender? That is pretty.

I've been told about a L-a and yes you pronounce the "-" (la-dash-A)

La-a is another incredibly racist urban legend. Just like PP pointed out about the other three.

  • I taught an Abcde (pronounced Absidty). To each their own I guess!

I guess it's better than qwerty? Lol maybe?
  • Going through a baby name book and came across this name...Angwusnasomtaqa. How do you even pronounce it?
  • Dear God, these poor kids!! Something tells me that if your parents gave you one of these crazy names, that's probably not (unfortunately) your biggest problem in life.
  • Not nearly as crazy, but Triton and Thor (not in the same family, thankfully). Idk why, but my personal pet peeve of current popular baby names is Brinley and all of the different spellings I've seen...Brynnli in particular bothers me the most (it doesn't help that I think her father is a douche anyway), LOL!
  • I've met a boy named aqua, twins (one boy and one girl) named Aye and Bee, and 3 different girls named Princess...I wish I were kidding but I'm not..
  • I've met a grown woman named Princess.  She went to high school with my husband, and used to work at the preschool where my big kids went for a year.

  • Ther was a little girl in line behind us at the grocery store this last weekend who name was Omen. I'm just not sure that's the best name I've heard, like ever.

  • A woman at a crisis center I used to volunteer at named her daughter Pepsi Marijuana. After her two favorite things.
  • @missliz53 that is just crazy! That poor kid!
  • I've heard (don't know if it's true) that another new name trend like Abcde, is people naming their kids ESPN, like the channel...and pronouncing it Es-pin. hmm.
  • I know an girl Peaches and a boy Kounty. I don't get it.
  • @hrossi253 Haha ESPN (Espin) is in that Adam Sandler movie Blended!
  • My brother went to school with a kid named Shithead. They pronounced it "sha-theed". That's a sad one!
  • This isn't nearly as bad as most of the names here, but I once knew a guy whose first name was Steven, last name Stevens. I never had the gumption to ask what he thought about that, but my husband and I won't do that with our kid, our last name is Elliott.

  • I work in staffing and I've seen some unique ones. The best that comes to mind is Adream Cometrue.
    Oh and Dyamond Crystal.
  • Wasn't there an Olympic runner a couple years back who's name was La'chante D'a Moore? Something like that. I remember seeing it and laughing because it translates to "The Song of Love"...I remember thinking it was kind of a literal name for what a baby is the product of, haha.

Also, not a baby, but I know a woman who frequents my mom's workplace who legally changed her name to I Am the Ocean. No joke, I've met her.

  • When I was a child, I knew a girl named Heavenly Angel. Her mom was very involved in the church, but still.
  • I also once knew a kid named Jihad which I feel like naming your kid after an act of war is probably not ok...I hope they never try to take him on a plane with a name like that.

  • The craziest I've heard is Sawyxr.  Pronounced Sawyer for a little girl.  And Nutmeg.

Well my husband wants to name our baby Remington Hunter if it's a boy... I'm not too fond of it but I think Remi is a cute shortening of it. I think it's a little too unique and I've never met anyone named Remington. But it's better than Lincoln and Hamilton which are his next choices! Haha. Hamilton wouldn't be too awful but if he's a chunky kid they'll call him Hammy or other pig names and I just won't put my baby through that.

My mother also had an elderly woman client named Tiger. I'm not sure that's how she spelled it because she was French, but still her name was tiger.
  • My moms cousin named her son "awesome" poor kid lol
  • I remembered another one, my MIL gave me a newspaper article about a baby girl that was born right after the Ohio State Buckeyes won the championship game this year, the parents named their daughter Scarlett Grey. (For those of you not familiar with Ohio State University, the school colors are scarlet and grey.)

We had Remington picked for a boy's middle name! We are having a girl, but Levi Remington was our choice for a baby boy! Love it!
  • That's kind of cute...

My cousins names their daughters Brydie and a Tivolie. They are strange names but suit them!
  • My son goes to school with a Foxxy, a Tyger and a Sigga! Weirdly the names really suit them!
  • I had a student a few years ago named "Messiah". His family believes that when they die, they all become gods.
  • I'm a substitute teacher, I've seen it all. One of the worst, though, was a boy named Lord. I had to call him by his last name, I just couldn't do it.

But my current favorite is Navenceky. It's a first name, pronounced Na-vin-ski like a Slavic last name.
  • I'm from the Oct 15 board but I lurk here because I'm due very early October. Anyway my husband loves the name Xerxes for a boy. Seriously? Anytime he says it I get so so mad at him (like I want to punch him haha). I would never ever name my kid something weird like that.

The names I have seen here make me sad for humanity :(

  • I used to work at a school with a girl named Indiana Jones. I thought it was pretty epic, actually.

Another funny thing- I know a lot of couples giving their daughters really cutesy names like Jaxlee, Loxlee, Nixee, Braxlee- basically it has x's and ee's in it. I can only imagine there will be a joke about white mom names someday since a lot of these names floating around haha.
