pregnancy pillow.. does it help?

Hi everyone! I've been having a really hard time getting comfortable when I sleep.. I'm normally a stomach sleeper (not anymore!) And sleeping on my sides really hurts my hips so I'm constantly tossing and turning. Has anyone tried using a pregnancy pillow and does it help? I never had this problem with my first!

Re: pregnancy pillow.. does it help?

  • There have been tons of posts about the pregnancy pillows that women swear by, so I'd recommend doing a quick search on our BMB. Other than that, I recommend trying out a body pillow first to see if that suits your needs. Oftentimes, having a long pillow between your thighs, knees, and arms can really help with hip pain when you're on your side. I have a maternity pillow from DD, but I use it just like I would a long body pillow, and a body pillow is much cheaper in most cases!

  • I have a snoogle and it's a dream! The only problem is it's a big deal when you have to roll over lol. I seem to sleep more solid with it and wake up refreshed. I'm curious how I'll feel with it in the third trimester.
  • I absolutely love mine! I sleep so much better with it :)
  • The answer to this question is YES! Seriously best investment I ever made! Especially if you plan on getting pregnant again one day the snoogle is the way to go! Otherwise just a regular body pillow works great too! My husband seriously hates my pillow so I'm trying to hold off digging it out but his days are numbered lol

For me yes. I rest my belly on it and tuck the end between my knees to help with alignment. But like the others said, a regular body pillow might work for you and they're a lot cheaper, so you might try that first!
  • I loved mine! Husband hated it and called it the Great Wall of China, hehe. I'm looking forward to getting mine back out, I got a U-shaped pillow, that way I can just turn over and grab on to the other side instead of wrestling with it when I need to roll over.
  • I'm trying out just a body pillow first since they were only like $8 at Wal-Mart.  I notice I use it at first when I fall asleep then end up kicking it out of bed!  If I do upgrade I'd probably get the big U shaped one so you wouldn't have to worry about flipping it over when you want to move to the other side.

  • I tried the Snoogle first and neither one of us liked it. As soon as it was in the bed, DH was against it. A $10 firm body pillow from Target is much better for us. At leat Babies R Us let me return the Snoogle!
  • I have the full front and back pillow and i swear by it. Hubby loves it too. They had some deals on groupon recently.
  • I've found that a body pillow works great for us too! And to help with tossing and turning I've been using a satin pillow case, it's so much easier to
  • I bought a u-shaped one from Babies R' Us. It is made by Leach Company. It is the best purchase of my life! Not sure how I ever lived without it before....pregnant or not!
  • I LOVE my u shaped preggo pillow. I tried sleeping one night without it and talk about worse idea ever!
  • The snoogle is amazingggg! I was having such back problems and couldn't get comfortable at night. I sleep so much better now, only problem is getting up in the morning lol
  • U shaped body pillow ftw! I bought it at 8 weeks and wondered why I hadn't bought it sooner!
  • I have a snoogle.  Best purchase EVER!!  I wish I wouldn't of waited so long to buy it for my last pregnancy!!

  • I really think it depends on how you sleep. I move a lot, so I found the pregnancy pillow constricting. I do use it for lounging because it's comfy. I've had better luck with an extra regular pillow wedged between the side of my belly/boobs and the bed. It provides support, but I can easily move it with me when I roll around.
  • I would kick my husband out of bed before I would not sleep with my Snoogle. It is amazing and worth every penny
  • I slept with the snoodle for the first time last night...and slept like a rock!! best pregnancy purchase to date!!!
  • I used a body pillow and it was brutal. My birthday was two weeks ago and my husband bought me a snoogle and it is amazing!!! It is a must have, in my opinion!
  • Snoogle. Buy one, it's worth it. Amazon has them for $50.

  • I wanted snoogle so bad but it was to bulky and u cant go from side to side I had to return it my hubby didnt even think it was comfy
  • I just sleep with a pillow between my thighs/knees and then have a blanket tucked up under my belly and I sleep fairly well.
  • I guess everyone is different. I have a snoogle and I hate it. Because it "hooks" on both ends there is no way to not have it under my head. If I could just chop off one end or the other it would be fantastic! But, as it stands, it hurts my neck and shoulders. On top of that it is difficult to flip from side to side. I could still live with that if it just didn't have to be under my head.
