Courtesy of the cat debate in a separate thread I thought it would be interesting to have a poll about what political party you identify with (it's anonymous and should avoid crazy debates right?)... I mean it's not cats we are talking about ;)

Republican
40% 33 votes
Democrat

Independent

Crazy cat lady checking in! I vote for Roomba Cat!
    image

I actually considered getting a roomba for this exact purpose... Now who's the crazy cat lady?!
  • Holy crap. I totally missed the cat thing because I don't have a cat (I adore them though, am trying to talk DH into getting one in a few months but our rent will go up quite a bit so I think I'm losing that battle until we get a house unfortunately)

But geez! That got heated! I didn't read through everything but I'm seriously side eyeing that girl...

I had two cats when I lived in an apartment ... I never told the complex so I wouldn't have to pay more.. They never found out even thought my lovely kitties would sit in the window all day right across from the rental office hahahahhah

Haha, that's great! Idk... I'm too much of a wimp to try that, I think! Plus the other thing is I have no clue where I'd put a litter box here. Our bathroom is tiny, and the only other room that's not carpeted is the kitchen, which is also tiny, plus I feel weird about having a litterbox in there... my MIL has a litterbox in hers and it's not a big deal, but her kitchen is like 3x the size of ours.

  • On the topic of cats - I saw this on Facebook this morning and seriously was *this close* to bawling my eyes out. I then saw a stray cat out by the McDonalds by our apartment tonight and almost started crying... DH thought I was nuts!

  • Omg. I AM bawling my eyes out. All of my cats are former street cats. Fun (my dear, departed Fun) was blind in one eye, missing hair, had a trauma hernia, and a messed up knee from her life before us. Samurai is missing the top 1/3 of both his ears from something (a fire? Frostbite?) that happened before us, and he came to be with us because he broke his leg and was brought in stray to the clinic I worked at.

I would have adopted Ugly. Bless that guy's heart for giving Ugly love at the end

I know! Right now I'm in a "GIVE ME ALL THE KITTENS WHO NEED LOVE" mood... I'm not sure how much of this is pregnancy hormone related...

Yeah. I lit her up and felt justified, then read more stuff she typed while I was typing, and felt bad. So I tried to help her, and it got so sideways, and I didn't want to get all snarky again but it seemed that anything anybody said she had a reason it wouldn't work, then the husband was controlling, then he's a nice guy just watching out for her, and I was just like - I'm done. Nope. I pretty much felt like @KonaCoffeeBean said in the post toward the end there. My head was spinning. I AM sorry I yelled at her, but she shoulda told me (us) she was full of drama and I woulda just left it and not wasted my time yelling and then trying to help.

Also, does anyone else get the feeling she is going to stalk our board, now? I guarantee September is going to have a thread on the meanie June bees. It'll be worth it to wait a few days then go over and have a look at it.

@ElRuby I have also considered getting a roomba for this very reason. Crazy cat lady fist bump! :)

Just here to say I totally called the September 15 crazy like a month ago! When I was WKing right after meanie gate, I ended up on that board and it was a whole lot of battling! Yeah...I had to step away from that thread. I hope her cats end up in a happy place. Though I did think her comment about baby shower invites was pretty funny...and I thought she had no sense of humor after she poo poo'd my kitty Rambo bit!

  • @MrsWiggleWaggle I loved the kitty Rambo bit. That was great.

@karaelaine1991 we can blame hormones, sure, but nobody needs an excuse to love on kittens. :x Just go on ahead and love on em, and tell people who think your crazy its hormones. Best of both worlds

  • I never read that thread until now bc well I don't have cats. I will probably never own a cat as I am allergic and so are my kids. I'm really confused about her allergy treatment plan though. I'm currently doing shots and my adds are okay with it...I just go to a lower dose. And my treatment is only for 4/5 years not 12/15 years????
  • And I wish the poll had a moderate option. I live in a very "red" state and I feel like I'm way liberal here. However, when I grew up in CA I felt like such a conservative...so I think I'm more moderate in my views.

Yes excellent point... But we never really get to vote "moderate"... So my poll forces you to choose!
  • Isn't that the truth!!! We had a recent democrat elected to the house and everyone here was like "he's such a liberal blah blah blah" but honestly he would be a conservative instated like OR, CA, WA, NY

It is funny how your surroundings affect you... I was at an extremely liberal grad school and I must have seemed like such a staunch conservative in comparison... I felt like I needed to be a full blooded republican just to balance all the crazy... But around some of my more conservative friends I get called a hippie radical... You really can't win when it comes to people's political extremes ... So moderate thinking is my ideal but rarely an option in reality

In relation to this - I find it really annoying that in some states (at least, the state where I was recently voting) you are stuck with a party, should you choose that party member for prez. Example, should I choose blue for Prez, then I must therefore choose blue candidates all the way down thru the senate candidates and then the house, and the local town candidates, etc. Why can't I choose a red prez, blue senators, a blue mayor and a red treasurer? Stupid.

  • Omg I just spent the better part of the last hour reading that thread (I wasn't keeping up since I don't have a cat... Absolutely love my brothers hairless Sphynx though!!) and I seriously thought my head was gonna spin right off my neck. What a saga. Kudos to you amazing crazy cat ladies for giving amazing advice, kind support, then putting that loon in her place. Lol sheesh. I feel like I need a drink after reading all of that

That is cray cray... Ands makes no sense!! What state is this?
  • That was Washington state. We were voting absentee for forever, but it was like that when we were living there, too. We just changed to Wisconsin but haven't voted here yet so don't know how it works here. But yes, if you identified yourself as blue, then you could only vote among blue candidates. I was like - I'm blue (not to spill my color and leave an opportunity for debate, just saying), but what if there is a blue candidate who is an idiot and the red one is better? I can't choose them? I'm pretty sure I couldn't even vote for an 'independent' prez if I was down as a democrat as I was registered to vote. It was a wonky thing
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I haven't voted since the last presidential election, tho, so its possible it has been changed since then. I'm a bad absentee voter, I never did any of the yearly or midterm ones

I thought that only applied to primaries... I frequently vote across political lines depending on each person's stance (I live in New York)

    Fantastic.

It was that way for the big ones, at least in that state it was. But like I said, I haven't done it for 4 years (now I can't remember if I even got to vote in the most recent prez election? I feel like there was an issue with my absentee as we had just transferred from NoLa) or more? I know we have some Seattle mamas, they could help answer this better. I may be mis-remembering.

Oh no. You're making it hard for me to let it simmer and cook in its own juices. Should we say something? Gif them?

ETA - do we need a June vs September war? Should we wear identifying colors like gangsters?
Personally I would really enjoy some gifs... And my cat is purring so loudly I can't sleep so I really can't think of a better way to spend the evening :)

  • Wait she's due in Sept?? she isn't allowed to cause a fuss here. I mostly skimmed everything but I was super confused by the end.

...And I'm pretty sure you vote all one party in the primary only.
  • Oh I'm loving this entertainment. I love the sept ladies that are like "you know they can read this thread right?" Lmao. How am I gonna put myself to bed and stop refreshing this hilarity?! I can't handle this

  • I'm generally a pacifist, but if we HAD to do battle this should go on our flag:

I even suggested she let them go and was supportive about it (but she is just screaming for drama)... Maybe she enjoys the allergies so she has stuff to complain about?

I guess we had better go defend ourselves then. I'm new to the gif thing so I'll need to go find some good ones. If you wanna coordinate attacks then it may take me a few to get ready. Or we can stagger attacks - some today, some tomorrow... Constant bombardment.
(I feel mean-ish, but still grinning like a loon)

Omg. Bwahahaha! I'm literally laughing so hard right now! Good thing I don't have to pee, it would've been a close thing.

We should post that image in their thread. Just drop it in there and say nothing. Good gods, now I have to go read it. I'll be back...

ETA - first I'm making myself some strawberry shortcake. Then I'll read September. Then I'll be back
