:::Wants to skip the gym to pull out the Nintendo 64 and play Mario Kart all night:::
My husband and I got Mario Kart on our Wii U. He also loaded the 1990 Dr. Mario on for $4.99 and now that's all. we. play. It gets intense!!
A married couple that nintendos together, stays together.
I cried when we lost our Wii to a thunderstorm 2 years ago. Lol. I am a nerd.
I also have a goal to find a super cheap old PC, so I can start playing old school zoo tycoon and Harry potter (flame free Friday confession right there).
Zoo Tycoon!! I love me some Zoo Tycoon & Roller Coaster Tycoon too- I used to forget to eat, drink and sleep playing those!!
DH has built two arcades, one of which has a variety of games, but no Nintendo. He's working on one that would have some Nintendo now. I want him to get Pacman up in here!

I have a feeling your DH and my DH would get along great! We've got several PacMan arcade games- PacMan, Mrs. Pac, Super Pac and just got Baby Pac - which is cool cos it has a mini pinball machine built into it! I love playing PacMan but it gets me all on edge lol!!

Yeah, sounds about right. DH enjoys making them in general. The Nintendo one he will be giving to friends actually. He's told me something about why he can't make a Pacman one sadly, but I can't remember what it was.

I'm an applied behavior analysis (Aba) therapist for children diagnosed with autism (ages 2-11). I'm graduating with my masters degree this summer and hoping to pass an exam to become a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) at the end of this year.
Me (29) + DH (30) | Dating 2003 | Married 2008 DS - 02/21/2016
I'm a SAHM and have a 4 1/2 year old in pre-school. While he's in school, I do my housework and of course procrastinate on Facebook and here.
We are awaiting the arrival of our baby chicks next month, so we will be busy getting our chicken coop built. We are so ready for nice weather to come and stay for good!
I'm so bummed that I don't get to check out these amazing posts when they are fresh and hot!!
But it is because I work at a school for kids with autism, we are non stop from 830-130 and then I'm busy charting data and making materials til 4, after that I come home to clean up my house of 3 guys (1 DH, and 2 roommates) and make dinner ... But I love it! I love my kids! Also I didn't read all the posts before getting too anxious and needing to reply but #1 @TheBorg7of9 - you would!! I can see that job on you like white on rice! And that's amazing! #2 @firebaby688 I wanted to go into social work! I am a certified school counselor but haven't landed a job yet #3 @kyleneum13 DH is going to be an elementary school teacher! He just got his credential and is also searching for a job it's rough here, the job market is not great...
I work at racetrack part time. Bt have only been there for a few months. Before that I trained to drive semi trucks. And before that I worked at a grocery store and legoland. Kinda bounce around a lot. Hubby works for an ice distribution center bribing big trucks.
Okay I'm always late to the game (in fact late in general) but I did read all the pp and love how you come up with this stuff @kyleneum13 I think I have mentioned before I am a teacher (2nd grade) and have been for about 7 years (spent one year in preschool). I just changed schools this year as mine closed last year but I am in love with it again after several years of a little burnt-outness. Enjoy chatting and reading with you ladies!
Hey, I am an ortho surgeon, it's more of boring nerdy job, cut into people as they sleep;). I also do pre surgery counselling for the patient and family, if need be.

Do I post frequent enough to have a guess???
Aw, man, do you mean to tell me Dr Cali Torres only makes ortho look glamorous?! Bummer!

Lol, I am so sorry, in real life it's more like mid night calls and emergency surgeries, and you come back home ten hours later to realise you didn't take bbt (

@Embuzz247 I'm a nurse too! I work in a hospital in labor and delivery and postpartum. I used to do med/surge and oncology but I'm happiest with the babies now! Hope to have my own someday. :-)
Once again, I missed a great thread! I originally went to school for education (English and Spanish, teaching English as a second language). Once I got to student teaching-- nope!! I changed my mind, switched to criminal justice and Sociology. As someone else mentioned, I was a career student. 8 years, three degrees, a police officer license, and a TON of student loans later...... ugh.
Now, work for the state of MN on a project where we are re-working our legislation and are working with a vendor to build a new system to bring our division into 2015 with the rest of the world. My husband and I are also real estate agents. So, a dual life! But I can honestly say I LOVE my job, now! I have amazing co-workers and a fantastic supervisor who has not once questioned my many time-off requests for (unsuccessful) infertility treatments.
Such a fun thred.. I love hearing what everyone does!
I'm an area manager for a large corporation. I oversee 10 stores in Chicago and the Chicagoland area.. I love my job, everyday is different and it really challenges me. Defiantly worried about the impact a child will have on my career.. this was our reason for waiting the last few years. I'm still nervous about being away for an extended period of time, but feel secure enough to not let work hold me back from having a family anymore. My husband jokes that I'll be emailing while giving birth.... I'd like to hope he's wrong, but he knows me lol.
Love seeing what everyone does. I don't post much, but read a lot. I'm an RN. I did FP and IM triage for the past 6 years and just changed over to float. Lately I've been doing a lot of urgent care. I took a job change because of burn out and wanting more time at home with my 22 month old. It's been awesome so far.
I like knowing people on a more personal level, very good idea (=
Here... Not fun, but definitely exciting! I'm an account manager for a Title Loan company. My job includes selling money, visiting people's houses, and repossessing vehicles. Unfortunately it's a very dangerous job because of the repos, but hey.... I have to keep bread on the table (=
I went to law school @TheBorg7of9 and @ShamRockgirl518, but between my second and third years, I got sober, only to realize law wasn't for me. When I got back from treatment, I decided to finish my degree and then pursued my passion of working in the addiction treatment field. I'm now a marketing specialist at a rehab in Southern California ( @mrsespigreen, sounds like you have a similar passion--right on!).
I am the director of students at a small church. I run the entire jr high and high school program for the church. DH drives busses for the county transit. We also own a business teaching music lessons. DH is the only one who teaches right now but I'm hoping to get some students myself. I recently had a midlife crisis(at 22 years old) and once I finished my Masters I'm going to go back to school to get my teaching credential so I can teach elementary school.

Thanks for the thread!
Yep!
also in SoCal. Once I am done with getting my degree I would love to work in a rehab center and specialize working with teens and young adults. After the years of doing research in this field I feel like this is my passion!
Shout out to all the teacher appreciation in this thread! DH is a teacher and he struggles with loving it and hating it. We were both raised in poverty, so actually the pay is pretty awesome to us compared to what we are used to, but we both know it should be more. He teaches high school science (all types, right now he's got chemistry, physics and bio classes) at an adult high school. His students are all 17+ and have returned to school to earn their diploma. So that's pretty cool. Very different than a traditional high school.
Me... well, I claim I'm a stay at home wife. I haven't been able to find a steady job for almost a year now, so I went back to school in January and also am an independent consultant for Jamberry Nails as well as selling some homemade crafts and any other odds and ends I can do to try to bring in a little money. I'm working on a second degree in Information Security and work (very infrequently unfortunately) as an on-call contractor for a local IT company running computer repair calls.
In the past, I've worked almost exclusively in the amusement industry and really want to get back into that somehow. There's something pretty amazing about working in theme parks, and I definitely miss getting paid to ride roller coasters! For a while I worked in the Harry Potter section of Universal Studios, so that's a pretty awesome experience I can share. Though I can't physically handle checking bars all day every day anymore (due to an injury), I'd love to work in IT at a park, and DH and I dream of one day opening our own small amusement park.
I am still pretty new here, and haven't posted much, just a lot of lurking ha, but I wanted to join in on this fun post! I really enjoyed reading the variety of careers of everyone here! I am a kindergarten teacher on my 3rd year of teaching. I love working with the kids and enjoy how every day is something new and always changes! Teaching can be very difficult with all of the issues and changes going on in education today, but I love doing it for the kids and watching them grow, it is very rewarding!
A popular photo tag for my friends and coworkers down there was "I work where you vacation." And I have some quite awesome photos of me in full Hogwarts student regalia in front of and inside the castle (I worked on Forbidden Journey, the ride inside the castle). I got to check Seamus Finnigan (well, his actor's) bar when he rode. But my favorite photo of me taken in an amusement park was at the top of the lift hill of Wild Eagle at Dollywood, where I used to be the team lead of the ride crew. Not everyone can say they've climbed to the top of a 205 ft coaster lift!
Love reading this thread! I am a school psychologist in an urban elementary school grades K-6. Most days I love it, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't starting to get burnt out. There are so many needs and not enough resources. It is a daily struggle, but I hold onto those successful moments and they help me get by. Not to mention I have an amazing social worker and principal working by my side!

nrwoodward I'm just a assistant for legal aide; never went to law school. I thought about it but quickly changed my mind after paying off the debt I was already in. I'm glad you were able to find your passion.
Currently I am a career changer i had always wished I had added on my psychology major to my undergraduate degree so after my DH and I got engaged, we both decided to pursue our passions, and in two weeks I will have finished my major. In addition to school, I work part time at a bipolar specialty clinic, volunteer in an ER doing substance abuse interventions, and volunteer in a lab as a research assistant on anxiety studies. I'm planning to apply to graduate school this fall! I may be a late bloomer, but I'm finally doing what I love!!
I am a psychotherapist, and no I am not analyzing anyone!! I have my masters degree in social work. I primarily work with children and adolescents. I am working at a community mental health center as well as private practice. It's great to see so many other therapists and counselors out there! I'd be lying if I said the work wasn't difficult, but as previous people said it is truly rewarding.

What a fun thread! I'm a program administrator at a global health research center. The researchers in my program study cancer (prevention, treatment and after-effects of treatment). I manage all grants and contracts for our program as well as the finances, HR, supplies, equipment, space issues, etc. I like to think of it as managing everything that allows them to do their research! It's challenging and rewarding.
I am a supervisor for Home assistance for adults with mental disabilities. I mainly work with adults who have autism. LOVE my job! It has taught me so many things about myself, others, certain illnesses, and being humble! love my people!
