That's so cool that you are also in the video game industry! My DH is a game designer for a mobile game company. I'm just a gamegirl. We had a Super Mario themed wedding! lol. Anyways, as I mention in the fur babies thread, I'm a zookeeper in the SF Bay Area. I work with giraffes, ostriches, zebras, koalas, kangaroos and a variety of other antelope species and birds. My husband and I are both very blessed in that we both do what we are passionate about for a living. I think it's one of the reasons why we work so well.
A super Mario themed wedding sounds amazing!! I love video games but I'm not very good at them. My DH is game obsessed- he collects 80s arcade games and pinball machines. Our house is full of them. We just moved so now we have an actual arcade downstairs with neon carpet and black lights- kind of crazy but it beats or previous setup where we had a PacMan machine right in the middle of the kitchen!
Currently I feel like a professional student. I'll be finishing 6 years of grad school next school year. One of my MA's is in education and I'm hoping to "use" that one primarily, though I might look into chaplain residency programs. Time will tell
28yo, TTC#2 since 6/2014 Kiddo #1 = 10 cycles of trying, 1 CP and is now a toddler

My father and brother own/run a gaming bar. It sounds like you both would love it! It's pretty awesome, actually. I'm not into gaming, but I'll go there to play old school Nintendo when the mood strikes.
Another amazing thread from @kyleneum13 !! And video game company is awesome! I worked for a toy company in the past and got to help with their Wii and DS games. It was really interesting.
Not sure if I post enough for a guess but I'd love to hear it if you have one. Spoiler alert, though: my job below.
And, I'm a big nerd and just wrote down everyone's screen name and what they do so I can reference easily in this post. So interesting!
But first: I'm a marketing copywriter for a restaurant company. (And from my typos you probably are shaking your heads, but it's my stupid phone, I swear!)
I focus on the writing for their emails to loyalty members and the website, though I do some store signage and other things here and there. I would bet that if you're in the U.S. and in a city where we have locations, there's a decent chance that at least some of you are on our email list and have received an email written by yours truly (we have one of the best loyalty programs in the business in terms of number of members). :-)
@beccabee92 happy to hear there's another writer around! My degree was in journalism with emphasis on advertising. What type of freelance projects do you hope to do?
@concreteayngel um, zookeeper wins my award for coolest job so far!

We would love to go there! We have a friend that runs one in Colorado and it's the best time ever!
Thanks everybody! My in-laws thought I was CRAZY to humor Mitch with the silly theme. Not quite the wedding in the redwoods that I had always envisioned, but it came out even better, in my opinion. It wasn't total cosplay nerdiness, or anything. No costumes, and still very traditional and classy. Just with a few fun Mario touches here and there. Here are a couple photos of the invites and the table settings, if you'd like to see.

That's awesome. Nintendo is, in fact, the company I work for and I think this is amazing!!

Where abouts are you from? We have a few of those in our area and they are SUPER popular! We love going and playing some games, getting awesome food, and hanging out. So fun!
Ahahaha that's awesome! Please don't sue me for stealing intellectual property for the purpose of decorating my wedding!
Even if I could, I totally wouldn't. And I don't think they would either They see things like this from time to time and love it! They'll post it on our internal website and be like "how cool is this?" Very appreciative of the fans

OMG that is SO cool!!!! I wanted to be a zoologist when I was younger. I love animals. That's so awesome.
I'm a boring ol' legal assistant working for Legal Aide. My group mostly works with domestic violence victims going to court for Final Restraining Orders. I love what I do especially knowing I am assisting people who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a attorney.

I have my degree to teach K-8th grade. Decided my senior year that it was not for me but got my degree anyway. I currently work in social services as a mental health case manager serving intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals. I love my job but definitely no money in it so I am currently going part-time back to college. In January, I will be applying to a RN program at the local Community College to get my associates then online through UT for my BA and Master. That's my goal anyway.
@didi0308 I went through a stage in my life where I really wanted to work at a bank! Then I took an accounting class in college and failed and decided I could never ever do a job that relied on numbers.
If you would have told me 10 years ago I would be doing this I would have laughed at you. As boring as it is I actually like it. Keeps my mind busy.
I am currently working in a adolescent substance use lab. Been here for 3 years. I did get accepted to a master program to be a clinical mental health counselor and will start in the fall.
Its interesting see all the different career /education background we come from.
:::Wants to skip the gym to pull out the Nintendo 64 and play Mario Kart all night:::
My husband and I got Mario Kart on our Wii U. He also loaded the 1990 Dr. Mario on for $4.99 and now that's all. we. play. It gets intense!!
A married couple that nintendos together, stays together.
I cried when we lost our Wii to a thunderstorm 2 years ago. Lol. I am a nerd.
I also have a goal to find a super cheap old PC, so I can start playing old school zoo tycoon and Harry potter (flame free Friday confession right there).
Well, I think my username kind of gives it away. I'm a high school biology teacher. I'll echo the thoughts of other current and former teachers that have posted here about the frustrations of the common core and state testing, and while I mostly hate my current teaching environment, I still love the field. I'm at a charter school, which is still a public school, but pays significantly less than a regular public school. And since we are kind of run on a business model, the only way to get a "raise" is to take on a more corporate aspect, meaning less time spent with kids (as opposed to a bump in pay scale for continuing education like most other normal places). Not really my thang. So I'm taking advantage of our tuition reimbursement and then searching for a job that will reward me both emotionally and financially (for all the blood, sweat, and literal tears of grad school).
I always said that if teaching didn't work out, I'd be a park ranger or a zoo keeper. It's really a toss up for me between what I love more: animals or teaching kids.
I currently teach middle school English- regular and advanced courses. Most days I really really love my job. I can say with total confidence that no two days are EVER the same, and boring doesn't exist when you are responsible for 160 13 and 14 year olds.
I'm newer here so I'll just introduce myself fully. My husband and I got married over a year and a half ago. He is 26 and I am 23. We got off birth control in December and have been TTC since. We are currently both college students doing odds and ends to earn money. I do volunteer at a local zoo since I want to work with them when I graduate. My husband is doing computer science.

My only experience with middle school was during student teaching but I freaking loved those kids! So full of energy, and at times, hard to control, but at least they didn't give me the kill-me-now expressions that I routinely see on my high school students' faces.
@missteacherlady16 I only have one or two of those. Junior high kids mostly, kind of, sort of, unless their friends are around, like you. :-bd
The other day we were talking viruses which led to the topic of retrovirus and I had this picture up and it was literally a collective sigh from the group. One kid even told me they "hate when adults don't properly use memes". I was so offended lol
@jennymack79 So glad to meet another writer as well! My freelance prospects are largely literary - I focus on topical (as opposed to news based) web content, book reviews, book summaries, etc. I'm kind of a jack of all trades, though, since I have experience doing basic copyediting, developmental editing for fiction and nonfiction, and I am working on offering social media consultation services for those who don't know how to establish their platforms, etc.
@BHEAT14 What kind of freelance do you do? Getting a novel published is such a monumental task! I still haven't finished mine...Good luck!
