Re: Show us your Nursery

  • Everyone has such great taste! Anyone want to come over and do mine :)
  • Just got it set up this weekend. Need to go through clothes, wash, and put away in the dresser. Hopefully baby girl will stay put for 6-10 more weeks, but her room is getting there. We still need to hang a quilt my grandma made for me when I was a baby.

I can't seem to be able to attach a picture. We're quite pleased with it. Walls are light green. There's birch trees with birds on the wall the crib is on. Our theme for her is woodlands...so there's also white decals for a few squirrels and a buck.
  • Loading the player...
  • ahhh so jealous. all your pictures/ideas are awesome. we're currently in a 2 bedroom apartment and living with another person. so LO will just be in our room.
  • MIL just texted me to let me know that the crib that she bought for us is on its way! So excited for it to get here! Will post a picture once it's all set up :)

  • I have our crib set up... The rest of the room is a construction zone still. D:

Also, since I took this picture I have taken the wall stickers down. I'm collecting above-the-crib decor ideas on Pinterest.

I love those wall stickers! Why'd you take them down? I'm always so nervous to put things above cribs/beds bc I grew up in So Cal and lived through the Northridge

As much as I love the look of things behind the crib (courtesy of PBkids and Pinterest) I would only consider wall stickers due to the chance of things falling.... This same logic applies to my own bed... I would love a beautiful sunburst mirror behind my bed but what if that thing falls while sleeping!
  • @awirkus I love that!!! We are moving next year so I get to repaint another little boy room. I may need to borrow your idea :)
  • @janinebean84 where did you get the area rug? Love it!
  • Oh I took the stickers down because they were peeling and I was nervous about them falling into the crib with the baby.
  • Oh and waiting for my white rug and recliner chair to go by the window! I made the dog decorations myself, and two of the dogs are silhouettes of our dogs!
  • I picked paint colors ;) and bought a painting on the beach in Cape Town...thus making the theme elephants ;)
  • Mine is still a work in progress. I was on spring break last week and thought it would be done by the end. The walls had a very ugly swirly desighn from the previous owner. Hired a painter and he did not tell me painting over the walls would be an issue. So he did it and when I went to see it could still see the design through two layers of paint. He said when it dries it would be fine but that was not the case. So he is out and we got a new painter. The painter came yesterday and decided to shake the paint can to see how much was left (about 3 minutes after I asked him to be careful bc I had just gotten new carpet in that room and the other one he needed to paint. Btw I planned for the carpet to be installed after the painting was done but since the problem with the painter I had no choice). So as he shook the cn part of the lid popped up ( bad painter never closed it well) and sent paint all over the new carpet, my walls, hardwood floors and me. Sorry for the long vent. It's a good thing the baby does not need the roo right away!
  • We just ordered our crib and dresser!!!

We started our nursery before we knew what we were having (a boy). I went through an zebra/leopard print phase a few years ago and my grandpa has bought me lots of furniture/decor in these prints so we decided on a jungle theme. My fiance works on an oil rig so he's only home for two weeks a month and we just havent gotten around to finishing it
  • Here's a picture. It wouldn't attach to my original post
  • Here is one finished piece
  • We also don't have a theme! Just a lot of bright colors for our baby girls room!
  • Y'all are so on top of things! We're doing a safari theme (very giraffe heavy thanks to a few good friends obsession with them). Our shower isn't until next week and we've been putting off buying things until that's over. So far, it's a crib and an ottoman that I fell in love with at Target. These next ten weeks will be busy.

It looks great - and I don't know if you noticed (and it really doesn't matter), but all I see when I look at the alphabet letters is the word 'HICK'.  Maybe a realignment?  :P
  • My husband is a huge sports guru so naturally I had to go with that as my main focus. He actually fought tooth and nail to decorate it himself but I won out and was able to go with a modern sports theme. I have started collecting things and have also found the fabric swatches I will use for the bedding. Our bedroom is large enough to accommodate an extra full size bed so I had to come up with something to tie both the crib and bed together! Colors are grey, navy, white and orange. Thanks IKEA for your Orange sheets! This is what I have come up with so far......

@aagen Where did you get that baseball basket? Love it!

  • We aren't done yet. We have a 3 bedroom and this is our third child so we had to do some shifting around.  This weekend we moved our master bedroom to our finished basement.. what was our playroom.  That turned out pretty well. We didn't really do anything to the room itself because we just finished it a year ago so it's already fresh paint, carpet, brand new flat screen.  I thought I would hate it but I actually like it down there. Our oldest has some issues sleeping upstairs knowing I wasn't upstairs but he'll get used to it.  We started our 2 yr old DD's big girl room too.  It's not done either but her furniture is put together and moved in and everything's been cleaned. Just need to transfer all her stuff from the nursery into that room.

Nursery walls are light turqouise.. our DD's was turqouise and purple .. no her room is light yellow, purple, and green.  So DH didn't want to repaint the nursery so we're doing bright orange, light turqouise and gray.  I just don't have it all together yet!

I'm pooped just from getting our room all set up and organized.  That took forever.

  • Here's our girl's beach themed room starting to come together! We're still toying with placement of the seahorse (made completely out of purple shells! SO pretty in person) and the blanket. Might wanna switch those two. Once i hang the rest of the stuff around the room i'll share those pics too.

  • Getting there!! Just need some more wall decor and little necessities!
  • @caity3 Oh my goodness this is adorable!!!! I'm so obsessed with the sock monkey and the giraffe looking into the crib! :x
  • @alissastanzeweaver I love that branch mobile!! Did you make that?

I'm obsessed with chandeliers. We haven't started on our nursery yet, since we're selling our house and moving, but is it a faux pas to have a white chandelier in a boy's nursery?

The nursery colors are beige and white with some hints of baby blue here and there.

Looks great! I would swap walls though for 2 reasons. 1) The blanket is a bit big for the smaller wall space, the seahorse would be a better size for that wall and 2) I, personally, get nervous hanging hard sharp objects hanging above baby's head (I know lots of people do it, but it just makes me nervous)!

Good point!! Why chance it? I've always considered myself artistic but when it comes to decorating this room, i just dont have the eye for design or creativity to figure out what should go where. I appreciate the input!

I have a chandelier in mine. I think it looks great. You can see the picture on page 1 of this thread.
  • @Davila21 - that's good looking! I can get the hubs on board with that. :-)
