Subchronic Hematoma/Blood Clot support group

Good morning momma's! I am 8w3d with a SCH. Looking for some support from other moms who have been diagnosed with this or have previously had this and went on to have a healthy pregnancy! I have previously posted about this condition when I first found out... But, now that I am more educated on how common it is, I feel if it would be best if we connected! Hope to hear from you soon :)

Re: Subchronic Hematoma/Blood Clot support group

  • I'm 7 weeks 6 days with SCH. Next ultrasound is Friday. I wish I would stop bleeding, still makes me nervous. Going on 6 days.

  • I have been spotting "pink" and lots of brown discharge last weekend but it has stopped for now. Have you been put on bed-rest? I have read that gravity does not help... Laying down as much as possible helps the body re-absorb. I haven't been assigned to bed rest yet, just told no exercise, sex, heavy lifting and to rest as much as possible... Thanks for replying @amwright33 I think we have chatted before !

I have had 3 ultrasounds so far and was wondering if the ultrasounds could have any affect on fetal development ?
  • Hi! When I went in for my first US at 6w5d she said I have a small clot in my uterus (I don't believe she called it SCH). I had one day (6w1d) where I spotted read which made me nervous but she said that was due to the clot. I am going back on Thursday (I'll be 8w5d then) to check on it. She said it should just be absorbed by the uterus and go away. I hope so because the lo has a strong heartbeat and parents that want him/her so so much!

Please keep us updated, I'll be praying that everything turns out ok for all of us!
  • I was on bed rest for two days when it started, it was bright red and heavy. When I'm not working (job has me on light duty), I'm back to bed rest due to my husband. He worries. I have all the other restrictions too. It's shrinking but not fast enough.
  • @jenniesdarling I didn't realize you had a SCH/blood clot as well ? If you haven't had any spotting since I'm sure that's a good sign! We go for another u/s again at 11 weeks... Hoping it's gone too!

I'll be praying for your little one, a positive thought I think can go a long way!! :)
  • @amwright33 sounds like your hubby is taking good care of you! Mine has been on nightshift and I work days... Have hardly seen him and I don't think he understands the seriousness or it has really "clicked" with him that there is a baby inside of me that we need to take care of.
  • I was told yesterday that I have a small clot in my uterus but my dr didn't seem overly concerned about it. She said it was the source of my spotting and not to worry if I see more my next scan isn't until 20 weeks. I wasn't put on any restrictions or anything so I am just assuming it is no big deal should I be freaked out?
  • I read the outcome is excellent if the clot is small. Hopefully they all go away! And soon lol
  • I don't think so @Barker2+1 ! But if you start doing something and you notice it gets worse... Maybe just take it easy? Hopefully it clears up soon. Are you spotting red or brown ?
  • When I first starting bleeding red I thought we were miscarrying. I was at work and called my husband crying. He told me to go to the ER. He later told me that he sat in his work truck and prayed his heart out. He really is an awesome guy. I didn't even think he wanted a baby, but he proved me wrong.
  • I'll starting to think my clot is bigger than what the Dr. said. I am on day 6 of bleeding. Plus they want to see me once a week.
  • I started bleeding during week 5 and it lasted for 13 days. Talk about annoying. I have seen my dr every week since, so 3 times. She put me on no heavy lifting, and no sex. This last time she felt like things were finally looking positive so I don't go for another 3 weeks. It sucks!! Hang in there girls!
  • I got diagnosed with a small sch at 6weeks. Went for another ultrasound at 7weeks and it already shrunk in half. It's very common, nobody should be overly concerned! My doctor sure wasn't!
  • @amandaejgreen I spot both dark brown and pinkish red but only when I wipe I wear a panty liner just to be safe but there usually isn't anything there. I didn't have this with either of my other two
  • Hi! I'm 9wks1day and found out today that I have an SCH. I've been spotting off and on for a few weeks which is of course very worrisome. But my doctor said the SCH was only 1 cm and he does not seemed concerned at all. Other than the SCH, the baby is doing great with a strong heart beat. Hoping that it will clear up on it's own! Prayers for the everyone else too!
  • Sweet, I'm happy you started this group. I started heavy bleeding on week 6, had weekly ultrasounds. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow and have another ultrasound. My bleeding has stopped and started again in the past few weeks but everything time we go in there is a heartbeat!
  • I had my first u/s yesterday and I'm 7w4d. My u/s showed an SCH. My doc said it was larger so will probably come out rather than absorb but gave me no restrictions and said not to worry. I'm not scheduled to go back until 4 more weeks. I'm trying to remain calm, I had a MC in Dec at 5 weeks so I'm already very nervous with this pregnancy. It helps to see it's fairly common.
  • Bleeding has seem to stop. Just spotting here and there now. Can't wait for the ultrasound tomorrow. I want to be off the restrictions.
  • Hi all! I have a clot along with what they think is/was vanishing twin... I'm going back in for another u/s tomorrow to make sure I'm not high risk. I've been spotting brown on and off for almost 2 weeks and the doc says its "my normal".

  • Ok went in today, heartbeat of 176. She could still see the SCH but I'm just happy my little Turkey is still ok. They have me on restrictions until I'm past 10 weeks.
  • Scratch just started bleeding again. I'm be happy when this is over.

@marafaye when they said that it's "your normal." Did they mean your normal monthly time or its going to be your normal throughout the pregnancy? Might be a stupid question?
  • @amwright133 I think they meant that it's not something to worry about unless it changes.

  • I am 9 weeks today and I was diagnosed with one at 7 weeks, I am not working due to other things but not on bed rest. Just taking it easy if i do anything that seems to make me spot more I try to take it easy. It's so hard not to worry... one more week till my next ultrasound and it cant come fast enough.
  • I was told I have a very small SCH at 8+3 and I'm now 9 weeks. I haven't spotted at all and doc thinks it will be absorbed and said they will check on it at my next US at 12 weeks.
  • I have been spotting brown off and on for a few weeks. I've had an ultrasound each week and it has not shown a SCH but my doctor thinks that maybe that it is there whether we see it or not. I've been put on pelvic rest until the spotting stops and whatever is going on resolves itself. All of my ultrasounds have been great and indicate the baby is growing well. It's fun getting an ultrasound every week but I'm a little worried about the bills that will start coming in now and I would obviously rather not be bleeding.
My OB said some women just spot throughout their pregnancy, or it could be a SCH.
    I am 10 weeks tomorrow.
  • Ok went for my ultrasound today and the blootclot is still there. I saw it this time. But the baby is doing fantastic with a HR of 171. They want me back the 20th to check on the clot.
  • Had docs appt today... All good!!! Major growth, heartbeat 173, clot still there but not bigger!!!! Going back on the 25th to get it all checked again.

  • @marafaye how far along are you? If you don't mind me asking.

  • I was diagnosed with SCH on Monday when I had spotted for 24 hours and then had a gush of red blood, went straight to ER. US showed baby was fine, 168 bpm. They never said how big the clot was. Since then I'm still spotting and sometimes it's red sometimes brown. They didn't seem concerned and never told me to take any precautions like bed rest etc. I worked Thursday and Friday and noticed the spotting was worse. I just hope it stops soon, I don't want to be bleeding for weeks or for the rest of my pregnancy. Don't see my doc again until the 29th. It's so stressful and worrisome
  • Love hearing the updates! I'm feeling well and haven't spotted in a week! Hope my body is absorbing the extra blood! I also found an SCH group on Babycentre that was very helpful and encouraging! Even pictures of baby's born full term, with mothers who had large SCH.
  • I had clots with my daughter so I'm on Lovenox this time around. Praying for safety and health for all of us and our little ones!
  • Hello Nov mommies, I just saw this thread due to digging for similarities and I also was told just yesterday I have bleeding behind my placenta I posted a discussion to see if I can get suggestions how to ease the mind through out this... Everyone says not to worry but it's hard when you've seen the wonderful life inside you and heard its heartbeat and want nothing but the best outcome... I've been trying to remain positive but the what ifs always lurk around my head... Hope everyone is doing well
  • I've just had more bleeding and now I think I'm seeing clots I'm not sure is this normal after being diagnosed with SCH. I'm not having any pain or cramping though, deciding whether I should make another trip to the ER? Did anyone else have clots? It blood looks worse today than when I originally went to the ER on Monday.. I'm really scared!
  • I have had clots with mine. My doctor said that can happen. If the clot doesn't get reabsorbed in your body they have to come out.
  • @Savlin12 did she say how big the clot was? My doctor put me on pelvic rest to help.
  • @amwright33 unfortunately cause it wasn't my regular OB she didn't say much just gave me 3 possibilities/ options that my body has basically My body will re absorb the blood, continue bleeding/sporting throughout the pregnancy, or I can miscarry and she didn't say how bad or not bad it was. However of course with any pregnancy with bleeding I am now considered a High Risk Pregnancy... I have been resting at home legs elevated & laying on my left side took Friday off of work to relax and take everything in... So far my spotting hasn't been as bad and I've been drinking plenty of fluids as I read dehydration can cause you to contract and make the SCH worse. Also I've restricted myself of carrying my 5 y/o and anything else over 10 lbs and such just to take it easy..
