I'm 25 weeks and yesterday was the first day I had swelling. I sit at a desk most the day then I had came home and had been cooking and cleaning for an hour or so when I noticed. Is this normal at 25 weeks? Anything to help it? Please don't be rude that this is a dumb question, it's my first pregnancy and not sure what is normal when... Thank you
Re: ankle swelling
I haven't had ankle swelling but yes to hand swelling.
I had sever swelling with DS1 at this point...all over but especially in my legs/ankles/feet (I had cankles by this point last time), but my OB told me to start wearing compression socks now, before the swelling really starts and they do help (you can get some decently priced ones on Amazon). Also whenever you can elevate your feet (above your heart if possible). Also, like PP said limit your salt and drink extra water, sounds counter intuitive, but it helps.
The only good part about swelling (water weight) is it comes off super fast after the birth--I lost 30 lb in 3 weeks after DS1 was born. Just be sure to sleep on a towel after you deliver cause it comes off mostly through sweating it out at night and this way you won't have to constantly change the sheets.
