Had mine this afternoon - fingers crossed I pass! My doctor's cutoff number is 140. Drink wasn't bad - just wish it wasn't lukewarm. Next pregnancy I'm bringing ice

They didn't give you a cold one? Oh good lord. I could not have gotten any of it down if it were lukewarm.
Ugh I have mine the 16th very nervous dk how I'll ever do a 3 hour one If I fail. When I used to check patients in at an OB office one girl came in to do hers and was drinking a shamrock shake while checking it. Seriously what an idiot! Of course she failed and I laughed my butt off.
Thankfully I passed the three hour! good luck to everyone. Supposedly its really common to fail the first and pass the second. It's a pain in the ass but better to know.

I just had mine last week and was so nervous about it because I really didn't want to do the 3 hour. I ate whole wheat toast with natural peanut butter for breakfast which kept me full through my appoinment. My blood glucose came back at 76 which was a huge relief! My doc considers 70-140 a normal. At my previous appoinment my nurse warned me not to eat anything too sweet for breakfast as it can throw off the results. She said just don't eat a big donut, and to even be careful of breakfast smoothies since even though they are healthy they can pack a lot of sugar and cause a spike in your glucose test. High protein is a safe bet so you don't skew your results.
A coworker of mine failed both her 1 and 3 hour test and she's a very healthy person, so it can happen it anyone. On a positive note she was assigned a nutritionist who helped create a meal plan for her and she said it really helped her manage her pregnancy weight gain.
My midwife recommended that I eat 2 plain scrambled eggs in the morning before heading to the test. PASSED, phew! Whether it was due to the plain eggs, I don't know, but it may be worth a shot for those who are worried. Although I am deficient in Vitamin D. I can't exactly go outside for my D intake with all of this snow in MD. I get to take prescription strength Vitamin D now for the next four weeks. Now back to eggs with butter, cheese and veggies!
I take my test in an hour. Since the directions said just to eat as I normally do up until one hour before the test (and as I previously posted on here-not to smoke!!?? I still find that odd the directions say that, but some women do still smoke while pregnant unfortunately, but whatever). I've eaten a protein-heavy diet as I usually do. I had eggs with bacon (with just just a few blueberries for breakfast-I need my fruit!), some roast beef and salad for lunch, and am now eating a cheese stick. I hope that me taking it later in the day doesn't effect the outcome of the results!
Mine is tomorrow! Im at 26 weeks my doctor does not do the 1 hour or the 3 hour. Its a 2 hour test pass or fail, no second chances. I also can not eat or drink anything from midnight tonight until the test is over tomorrow. Ugh.
I'm nervous about the way that it tastes. I was told that I could only have water and toast that morning. I really want to be able to get it down without getting sick or taking a long time.
Trust me you will drink it fast because you don't want to stretch the experience out. It just tastes like a whole lot of sugar at once with some orange thrown in the melted Popsicle texture gets me. I'm surprised you are allowed only toast...maybe just to keep people from having to much sugar before hand? Usually you fast or you don't fast. So if eating a bunch of candy or drinking lots of kook-aid at once has made you puke before...tell your doctor or they will just make you do it again.
It seems like many people fail the one hour but not the three hour... I think this is why my doctor only does 3 hours.... It eliminates the unnecessary fails. Definitely an annoyingly long appointment but better than going in twice!
@aprilg87 I found it sort of tasted like slightly flat orange soda.. I'm a fan of sweet drinks though. It really wasnt that bad for me though.. I feel like the hype about it was the worst part!
I took my 1 hr yesterday and my doctor called me this morning and said I failed it by 4 points also, 139... Not looking forward to the 3 hr test I'll take that one next Friday, my next day off. My dr said that 15% of people who take the 3 hr test actually have gestational diabetes so it looks like the odds are on our side!
With DD #2, I failed the one hr & passed the 3 hr. I'm sure you'll do fine. Good luck.
Yeah, I failed my 1 hour I took yesterday too-146 and the cut off is 140. For some reason it devastated me. I am not taking the 3 hour until the 20th...so maybe they aren't too concerned? I don't know, I already eat close to what would be considered a low-carb/diabetic diet. Ugh.
Okay, I'm dumb I guess, but what what is so bad about the 3 hour test? I obviously know I don't want to do it, but not sure why (other then medical reasons). Lol please forgive my stupidity
I took the 1 hour today. It was awful. I kept it together while we were there but I cried as soon as we left the lab and were in the car.
And now I am anxiously checking my email every 5 minutes to see if my doctor has the results.
I think this is the most unglued I have been this whole pregnancy. If I don't pass my husband may have to drag me keep coming and screaming to the 3 hour test.

Longer period of time and more blood draws, obviously, but I think that the reason women really dread it is that you have to consume twice the amount of glucose. If you struggled with headaches or nausea during the one hour test, the three hour would probably be torture.
My doctor only does a two hour test, pass or fail. I only had to drink the juice once and I passed! I gained 20lbs before the BFP and have gained 40lbs since..I was worried the extreme weight gain would make it impossible to pass but I was wrong!! Yeah!!
I have the 1 hour day after tomorrow. And then, I get to go and talk to my boss about how long I'll be able to keep working. Thursday is shaping up to be a dandy day, for sure [-(
Do numbers really matter? I see people getting worked up over how much they failed or passed by and it seems like needless worrying... It is pass/fail for a reason... I am not sure if the actual scores have any significance or not but there is a cut off for a reason.
Had my 1 hr yesterday and I failed I am going back on Friday to test for the 3 hr. Wish me luck guys! I am slightly freaking out about this bc I have issues with anxiety/panic attacks especially anything to do with needles/getting blood taken.
Also, I will be out of town for a few weeks so If I do have it I will find out when I am gone and not able to come in if they need to see me or give me anything. I have no idea how much I failed by or if that matters because I completely forgot to ask them when they called me to tell me my results today. .
Definitely nervous for mine next week. I'm skinny-fat and eat horribly. My blood sugar also drops all the time (probably from all the crap I eat spiking it) so...it's not looking good. But it is what it is!

Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
I really didn't find it all that bad -either the drink or the blood draw. I think a lot of this is hype and getting psyched out. I hope this puts some of you at ease for your upcoming tests!

Completely agree! I thought the orange drink was somewhat like orange soda and after months of no soda I kind of appreciated it haha
@taboullio84 we have the same bday! Good luck! My glucose test is tomorrow afternoon. My doc refused to let me do it in the morning which is annoying! So now during work I need to get my drink on I can throw up thinking about it
It honestly isn't that bad. It tasted like a super sugary orange Hi-C to me. Not great but not the worst. It's a small waterbottle size so it goes pretty fast. I just downed it in a few minutes and then had to hang out. The only annoyance was that I wished I could rinse out my mouth to get rid of that sugar taste for the hour. Good luck!
Ahhhhhh! These are all kind of scarying me. I had mine today and started to barf right after I gave blood because the drink didn't settle. I really really hope I pass because I don't want to do the three hour one and I really want to eat sweets!
