Strangest Pregnancy Symptom

I hope this board doesn't exist already (I don't think it does but sorry if I had a "boy look" and didn't see it), but what is/are your strangest pregnancy symptom(s)?

I think for me it has been intolerance to spicy food - I normally LOVE spicy food - I'm a real chili-head - the spicier the better, but since being pregnant, I have no tolerance for it! Even mild spice has me like woah. For me, this reaction is something that I never expected and had never heard of before as a pregnancy symptom.

  • I can't tolerate sweet or salt....go figure.

  • When I was pregnant with my son I couldn't find anything spicy enough!!! This time around I am sensitive to it, but it's kind of nice because I don't have to kill anything with hot sauce to get it spicy enough.

I have been sneezing all the time! I had no idea that was actually something.  I hardly ever sneeze. My hubby looked it up as a joke and it's real!

  • My sense if smell! I was a heavy smoker before being pregnant and I'm sure quitting has helped a bit. II used to smell nothing but very strong odors, now I can Snell EVERYTHING. Which would be so amazing if 80% of those smells didn't make me I'll.
  • For a little bit, I kept randomly getting really itchy palms. I didn't think it would be a pregnancy thing, but I spent a little time on Google and lo and behold, even that was because I was pregnant! So weird.
  • I'm constantly stuffed up but if there is a foul smell it will find its way into my nose. At work we use bags that at 100% recycled and the smell of the bags were making me gag

@ktbkitten - I guess I have the sneezing one too! Here I was thinking my allergies have come early. I guess I need to do more research because I had NO idea some of these symptoms were pregnancy-related!!

@ktbkitten - I wonder if the spicy thing is gender-related? Maybe that means I'm having a girl, if you had a boy and couldn't get enough spice?!
  • So much mucous discharge this time! It's so gross :(
  • The excess saliva! I keep catching myself drooling like a weirdo.

Yes!! I talk a lot at work explaining things and its almost like I'm drooling
  • Every time I do yoga I pull a muscle in my butt and for days make horrible groaning sounds every time I bend forward at the waist or stand up. How can something so gentle evoke such terrific pain?!
  • I have the constant stuffy or runny nose; but my weirdest thing is throwing up water after getting a drink. like, it just flows back out. so weird feeling. for a while I couldn't drink any but carbonated water. now I'm finding if I take it REALLY slow, and burp between every sip (sorry tmi) I can keep it down.
  • I love love love chocolate but I can't eat it right now. I'm hope I can have it again after the baby comes :-)

I'm with you on that one! It's so weird!

  • I gag at the smell of bleach, chicken, cigarettes and anything fabreeze related.
  • My sweet tooth has disappeared too!! Loving salty vinegary foods and stuffy nose constantly yet increased sense of smell ....weird....

I became hydrophobic at shower time.
I use to love taking showers and sometimes I would take long bubble baths. Now I hate getting wet at home. I'm fine with going to a pool tho...
  • My dreams! They are causing me to talk in my sleep. Ugh it's humiliating lol. Who knows what I'm saying given the recent content of my dreams!
  • The heartburn and indigestion. My WORD. I've never really had these before, and I know they're not unusually weird symptoms per say- but I think I can single-handedly keep the tums and rolaids companies in business right now. I had a burger the other day, and had heartburn for 6 hours. Ugh. Gross!
  • The bizarre and random cravings and aversions are always the weirdest thing for me. We have Girl Scout cookies (my faves, thin mints) but I can't even look at them. So the kids are eating them all.

  • Food aversions/cravings. I can eat chicken, but having to cook it makes me gag. I usually only want one thing for dinner and everything else seems like I won't be able to stomach it. Which is weird because I didn't have any morning sickness.

  • I can't keep down chicken. I have had no morning sickness and no aversions, I'll even crave chicken, but for some reason it just won't stay down.

  • I'm usually a very gassy person (celiac sprue makes you toot more and so does having gastric bypass) but I no longer fart. It's a big surprise when I do now (probably from the super constipation). It's sad but I actually miss cutting the cheese because now I'm so bloated and in pain.
  • most recently (12 weeks), waking up randomly and feeling like my legs ran a marathon. The extreme ache/tiredness lasts only for a few seconds though. I wish I got the benefits of exercising instead the pain!
  • I have had morning sicknesses this whole time but it's getting worse in the 2nd trimester... i didnt expect at 14 weeks they would just disappear but at least let up... i count this as strange (:|
  • I am right there with you...don't show me a salad!
  • @sugarmagn0lia not to send you into prego panic but when you mentioned itchy hands I thought of something o read a while back about how that could potentially be a sign of a medical condition....again don't panic but maybe consider mentioning to your dr. Just in case :). My weirdest symptom....and I have only the weird kind is probably that early on I would get cold chills....I couldn't control my shivering or chattering teeth.....even if I was under like 3 blankets with my coat on. I guess it happens....haven't had any in weeks. My SIL I swear thought I was making it up. My feet went numb once, my dreams have been insane, I sneeze all the time....I bet like 15 times a day, and one day I craved butter....just butter. No major ms though so I guess I'll take it!
