So, I am all about managing a healthy weight gain this pregnancy since my last one got out of control (gained over 50lbs and I'm not even 5ft tall). How much have you gained so far and what are you doing to help manage your pregnancy weight gain?
I'm not focusing on the pounds. My doctor says I'm healthy and everyone who's commented on my pregnancy appearance has told me I look great. That's good enough for me
To achieve this, I've been trying (and not always succeeding) to cut out the junk food, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and eat lean meats. I haven't really been exercising, but I plan to start walking around my neighborhood regularly once the snow in my area melts. I don't want to risk slipping and falling.
I've gained 12-12.5 lbs. at 27 weeks. I eat pretty healthy most of the time (I'd say 75% of the time) but definitely splurge a little more than I did pre-preg. I am crazy obsessed with frozen yogurt (with unhealthy toppings)
I definitely eat more in quantity. But my snacks are usually things like almonds, hummus, cottage cheese, peanut butter, yogurt, and I eat lots of fruits, veggies, and lean meat.
(buuut, last week I ate a plate of waffle fries for dinner.)
I have continued exercising about 5x a week the entire pregnancy, but listen to my body.
10 pounds at 25 weeks. I had bad morning sickness (still have it slightly) and lost a fair amount of weight in the first trimester. I was pretty worried about it but I started with some extra weight so Dr assured me baby was fine.
I actually get pretty excited to see the pounds go up now
I eat pretty normally, just more of it. Veggies, meat, some junk, etc. My biggest craving is chocolate milk which my Dr warned me to be careful about because it's less likely to fill me up with empty calories but it's SO good!
I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow and so far I've put on 11 pounds. I can't say that I've stuck to a healthy diet, but I have generally had well balanced meals. I have occasionally craved sweets.
I was underweight. ( 5'7"/ 100lbs) I gained 20 .. I was put on a higher calorie diet. So far it's awesome round belly... And huge boobs... That I never have. Lol
A. LOT. But, you know... I really dgaf, lol. My doctor isn't concerned, and I know that personally (from past experience) it's going to fall right off after baby comes so I'm not concerned. I'm actually kindof a health stickler when I'm not pregnant so I'm just enjoying NOT watching the scale and calories for once.
Last time at the Dr office I only gained 7 lbs...but I was 20 lbs over my ideal weight. I also suffered from morning sickness. I eat a bit of everything but a lot of chips and burgers.
I'm at 27 weeks and have gained 14-15. I try to exercise everyday. But compared to how much exercise I got pre pregnancy I feel sooo out of shape. I can definitely see weight gain in my arms and legs which bothers me but the pregnancy weight gain charts say I'm doing okay... I'm just hoping when I become more active again after having my baby it will go away. Fingers crossed.
21 at 27 weeks. I am on point for what I should gain. It will probably be 35 by the end of it all. I had been running 4 days a week but this weather has been messing with me. I am one that eats a well balanced meal but won't deprive myself of sweets.
I have gained 7 lbs at 26 weeks. I'm measuring small, and so am being sent for a growth ultrasound
I had only gained 5 lbs at 24 weeks and was measuring at 22 weeks. When I go back on the 16th if I'm still measuring small I will have an ultrasound as well. Definitely has me feeling nervous...
I've gained around 20 at 25 weeks but it's all belly so far. I've been eating whatever but I do try to get fruits and vegetables in too. I'm usually a healthy eater but have found that along with pregnancy I have no will power! I'm trying to work out 4 times a week. My doctor isn't worried so I'm not either!
I'm up 17 pounds at 26 weeks with twins. I eat whatever, whenever and have been trying to hit 10k steps a day to help balance it out. I'm carrying a HUGE belly but I really don't look all that pregnant from behind. I was super active and ate really healthy pre-pregnancy so I know it will fall off with some determination! Enjoying all of the good food now
I've gained 5 lbs and I'm at 27 weeks. I was about 20lbs overweight when I got pregnant, so I lost weight off my butt and thighs. When really I didn't it just migrated to my belly. But I am all belly. A huge big round one haha. Doc is sending me for another ultrasound because I'm actually measuring bigger than how far along I am. Family doc and my ob have not been concerned about my weight gain. Said they'd like me to stay in the 15 to 20.lbs range and said I'm probably gonna gain the most of it from here on out.
im the same weight now as i was pre pregnancy and im 23 weeks. i got really bad morning sickness but i didnt know i was pregnant so i just wouldnt eat so i wouldnt throw up, so i went down like 7 lbs and now its back on me.
I'm up about 25 lb at 27 weeks. I had an underweight BMI pre-pregnancy, and my OB is not concerned. It's all belly, boobs, and butt weight so I can't complain. Between breastfeeding and starting intern year of residency on July 1, I'm hoping it will fall off quickly
I have gained 15 pounds at 22 weeks and the baby is doing great!! I have cut back on exercise though i think i have probably lost a lot of muscle mass which is why my weight hasn't increased a lot... i was a runner and honestly have not run since January. What are your opinions on exercise while pregnant?? How much should you exercise a week?
i was on the overweight side started on 180 than by week 13 i was on 176 than im slowly going back up 24 weeks this monday and i weight 183 soo 3 pounds? baby healthy tho i walk everyday and drink only water it helps with the back pain too. i can only gain ten pounds all pregnancy
I lost 17 pounds in the first trimester and haven't put any of that back on :-S it's starting to freak me out a little. I'm eating as much as I can and even splurge at times. I was overweight to start with and am still not thin, but it seems like the baby is taking everything! Measured right on track at the 20 week scan, so not too worried, but I'll still be checking with my midwife at my 25-week appointment next week.

I was an avid runner pre pregnancy and during my 1st trimester. I know I have lost some muscles because I couldn't keep up with the endurance and intensity (was running 20 min 5k times the few months before and month I found out I was pregnant). I still jog about 4 days a week for 30 minutes but I gave myself an out when I reached 27 weeks ( this past Tuesday) to just walk for 30 minutes and if I felt up to it jog. I have a friend who just took walks with weights during her 2nd trimester to keep herself in some kind of shape. Try to exercise as long as possible because it's going to be hard if you take off 3 to 4 months and then start again. My ob said its fine to keep running just be careful as we lose our center of gravity we are more susceptible to falling. Ask your doctor what his/her opinion is.
20lbs at almost 25 weeks. I had some things happen this past summer (upper respiratory infection, miscarriage, kidney stone) back to back so I wasn't allowed to excercise like I had been which didn't help the weight.
I think walking with weights is such a good idea. I definitely will try that!! With spring weather coming it that will be great:)! Also, im sorry for all you have been through this year. Praying for the Lord to bless you!! And your family!
It kind of skeeves me out to sit and discuss weight gain/ lack thereof. It's a slippery slope to the dangerous world of comparing yourself against other people and the damage that can do to your self esteem. We all have different bodies, babies, metabolisms, and stories. There is no "normal" with this.
Saying that, I've gained what I've gained. I eat moderately healthy and exercise 5-6 days a week. My blood pressure is normal and my OB is satisfied with where I am. Fergus and I are both healthy and happy. I can "fix" my weight after June with the appropriate diet and exercise.
Ive gained 40lbs and was overweight before getting pregnant. I haven't changed my eating habits, and I hadn't gained weight in over a year before baby. My doctor isn't concerned as every check up everything has come out normal and the baby is healthy. Both my mom and sister gained 60+ lbs with all their babies
I met with my OB yesterday and I have gained 4 pounds so far - I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow. I started a boot camp challenge regimen about a year ago and have kept it up through the pregnancy so far. I think this session will be my last - with 12 weeks left until EDD. I haven't been very hungry until last week when I started eating All The Food! Everyone thought I would become a total porker when I got pregnant because I come from a family of rather large women, but I feel I've done well. My OB says baby and I are perfectly healthy - my husband insists he is going to "fatten me up" LOL :P
27lbs at 27 weeks. It upsets me, but I do eat very healthy, track my calories and carbs, and exercise 5-6 days a week. I allow myself a cheat day on the weekends, but don't go 'balls out' so to speak.I started out at a normal weight of 140. I have a meeting with my doctor next week that I called and scheduled (outside of my normal check ups) because the group of doctors I go to always say 'watch it' in regards to my weight gain at the appointments, and it's seriously messing with my mind.
My dr weighs me in kilos and I'm not sure how much I've gained exactly lol I honestly don't even pay attention to the scale at all. I know I was up 10lbs a few weeks ago so I'll assume I'm probably at 15-20 lbs heavier. I'm having twins and I seem to have a hard time eating the extra 600 calories I was told to consume, I probably eat less now than I did pre pregnancy but I think it's bc my tummy is so squished. I'm sure we all look great don't worry about the numbers, I'm sure your doctor will bring it up if they are concerned with your weight gain or lack there of.
There's a mantra that says "compare and despair". I actually don't look at my weight and have been just doing my best to listen to my body. If it wants candy it gets candy, if it wants veggies likewise. My doctor has mentioned my up or down a few times during appointments but never is concerned so I don't concern myself. I do this because for many years I have been a slave to my diet and I just couldn't take it anymore.
26 weeks with twins and have gained 28 pounds. I eat healthy and work out 6 days a week. My Dr. actually has me eating an extra 800 calories a day to compensate having twins and working out. I eat very healthy but like evey one splurge every now and again I am all belly, to the point where strangers are asking me if the baby is going to be here any day.... I respond with no, I'm having twins and still have about 3 months but thanks
Re: How much weight have you gained so far?
i havent done anything to manage my pregnancy weight... I eat whatever whenever....
I still have 13 weeks till DD
