  • I am struggling today! So sick of snowsuits, fighting the stroller through the snow, salt being tracked all over the house. Seriously it took us longer to get ready to walk the dog than we were actually out walking the dog. I quit winter.

Do you actually manage to walk the dog and wheel a stroller by yourself? I tried it once and it didn't go over so well...my dog is just too big and willful (in spite of training)
I do. She's a 30lb border collie, so she needs the exercise but is small enough that I can rein her in if I need to. Sometimes I have to get pretty strict with her while we're out. I've had the leash get wrapped in the wheel when she gets excited about something.
Ah, that would be easier than a 108lb 11 year old dog who thinks she is still a puppy! Its one of the reasons we haven't been able to walk her much since DD was born. It would take both DH and I to walk puppy and baby.

  • Can I just bitch royally for a minute?  It's been the week from Hades.

LO got a double ear infection.  Then the refridgerator went out (I need the freezer to freeze my milk for LO - it was not).  Then LO came down with croup.  Then the heating unit died at our house.  Then the plumbing around our washing machine burst.  Then LO was still sick, so we started a 3 day regimen of antibiotic shots.  Then it snowed us in.  Then a tree fell in our backyard and broke a huge hole in the newly finished fence - we had just put in a dog door too...  Now I'm sick with a 102 fever and LO still is having a horrible ear infection and stuffiness.

I tried getting a dress from Rent the Runway, and apparently it does not work with Safari (the only browser I have).  And we got rid of cable a week ago, and our 'smart' tv will not talk to our internet or our Amazon Prime or Hulu we paid $$ for, so we have no way to watch anything on TV.

Piss it, I'm mad and I want my cooking shows.
  • Whoa, @smushi. That is a week from hades! I am so sorry! I hope something good happens soon!
  • @sporty1216 Thanks :(  I know they're all totally first world problems but their my problems lol
  • First world problems or not, there's no denying you've had a sh*t week. I really do hope it turns around soon.
  • @smushi, that sounds awful :(. So sorry! It's never just one thing to go wrong, it always all happens at once! Hope things turn around fast!
  • @smushi. I'm so sorry you're having such a shitty week. I hope thing get better soon!
  • @smushi - oh man you really have had a terrible week! I hope things start turning around soon!
  • @smushi.... my god woman, that sounds absolutely ridiculously horrible! You deserve a medal upon your poor sick chest! If things don't get better soon then karma needs a swift kick in the @$$!

  • @smushi all the wine for you! That's enough crap for a year's worth of mishaps! I'm so sorry! I hope nothing more happens and that everything gets sorted out quickly. And I hope you and your LO feel better fast!

I've checked two stores with no luck. Might have to go to a bigger store!
  • Thanks for the sweet words everyone.  If I can convince DH to pick me up some wine on his way home, I'll cheers to a much better next week with you all!

And on a brighter note, my Rent the Runway order went through, and they're sending me the same dress in two sizes, so I can make sure I get one that fits!  Cross your fingers for me!  I'll post pictures if it does :)
  • Tuesday and Wednesday it was in the 80s and I was wearing shorts. Today it's in the 30s and its icy.

    WAT

Go home Mother Nature. You are drunk.
  • LO got a pottery barn catalogue (not pottery barn kids) in the mail today... They must know I'm a sucker for their stuff and working any angle they can to get me in!!!
  • I have to AW: I bought a munchkin cup with the weighted straw and gave it to LO a couple days ago. I thought she'd never get the hang of it. But, she got it!! I'm so proud!

What a week!! Glad it's going better. What is Rent the Runway? Like renting a high-end dress? Why do I feel like this is something I should know about.

  • I'm not allowed to swear at my 3 year old, am I? It's taking a lot of restraint these days!

I just had a similar discussion with my DH over LO's bath time.  I was trying to explain to him why I am so tired, even though LO is a pretty easy going kid.  You just can't flip out on a kiddo.  So that means that no matter what they do, you have to do your best to maintain your cool.  And that. Is. Exhausting.  (It may also have the unfortunate side effect, if you're me, of causing you to flip out on people you can flip out on--ie DH--when you really shouldn't.  Whoops.)
  • DH found prune juice! Yada yada yada, LO shit up to his armpits and had an emergency bath.

Haha this has been us (without the necessity of prune juice the last 3 nights). LO pooped so much it came out the front, back, and sides! 3 nights in a row of emergency fully clothed baths!

    Joys of motherhood :)
  • TGIF! I can't wait to go home and have a coffee followed by some wine! DH and I are finally going to get our date night (barring unforeseen circumstances) tomorrow night that we had to cancel a few weeks ago. Not sure what we are going to do other than a nice dinner but it will be nice to just go out and recharge just the two of us. It has been so long since we have had a chance for a date night.
  • Did just gets them a lot teething or no teething. I've found that applying a little Vaseline before bedtime works better than any of the fancy and expensive lotions. She always wakes up with non chapped cheeks.

My LO gets the chapped cheeks whenever he has a cold... From the snot. Ewww. I haven't really found anything that works other than biding my time until the cold is over.

The thing that kills me is that everyone constantly says "Look at those rosy cheeks!". I so want to say "it's dry skin... From snot."
  • My LO has had chapped cheeks since birth...pretty much. First it was eczema causing it then teething doesn't help. It's a constant battle. I also get the rosy cheek comments. I have also gotten "oh his cheeks are so red...does it hurt?" Idk...ask him. Idiots.
  • Eucerin cream works wonders on my littles' chapped cheeks. Make sure not to get the lotion version though- it has different ingredients.
  • I have a dentist appt today. How sad is it that I am looking forward to it as a break?! Also DH has decided he's taking both kids to a play gym. Haha. He's never been alone anywhere with both of them. I secretly hope they both give him a hard time. That should probably be in FFFC...
  • I've found lanolin works great on my little ones chapped face and lips. I also put it behind her ears because she gets really dry back there for some unknown reason. I use lanolin because she likes to touch her face a lot and I didn't want her ingesting something that's not safe for her. It's sounds weird but it works.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I had a nasty little GI bug today...I am really hoping DD doesn't wind up with it tomorrow or Monday. This will be the last time before next winter that I get two days off in a row!

  • Feel better soon, @BADASBKRCK ! And I hope LO doesn't get it...
  • The in laws are over and DD is sick. Awesome!

MIL already asked us before dinner, "do you want to change her before we go out. Her outfit is dirty." A, it wasn't. B, even if it was, why change her just to get dirty during dinner (DD is a messy eater!).

Most of the time my MIL is astoundingly awesome, but there are some times that she makes me feel like crap. She is one of those supermoms that can take care of 10 children at once while keeping her house spotless and home cooked meals on the table.

You are taking your sick daughter out to eat?
  • In-laws have been here this weekend, helping with some projects. Today we pushed LO right on through his morning nap due to church and going out for lunch. Now he is going on over an hour for his afternoon nap. I kinda hope this is the start of transitioning to one longer nap a day rather than two sometimes crappy ones.

She just has a little cough. No fever and no stuffy nose. She's playing and crawling. She's just not quite herself. Just coughing a bit.

  • Long weekend, but I made $200 with a garage sale!  Just wish I had sold more so my car wasn't so packed on the way back (hosted at a friend's house).
  • So my time at the dentist was in no way a break. What was I thinking?! I got a butcher for a hygienist. Ouch!

Then I got home thinking DH would say something like "I don't know how you do this everyday!". Instead he basically said it was easy with two kids and started telling me a better way to deal with getting both kids in the car. I have been putting both kids in the car by myself almost every day since LO was about 3 months old. I almost throat punched him (oh and his suggestion is stupid.)

The one thing I find hardest being out with two is juggling both of them for DD's bathroom breaks. So DH put the baby in the stroller and left him at the front desk of the play gym while he took DD to the bathroom. Such a man... Of course it's easy like that!
  • What is more fun than diarrhea you ask? How about diarrhea, nausea, a sprained ankle, arthritic knees, a headache, getting my period and a cranky baby.

Oh man. You need a drink when that nausea subsides. Feel better soon!
  • Someone tell me crib training gets easier. It does get easier, right? RIGHT?!?!
