Is week 6 really worse than weeks 4 and 5??

I'm currently 5w4d and everything I've been reading about morning sickness getting bad in week 6 has me terrified. I've had bad nausea, dizziness, and fatigue since the very beginning and the thought of it getting even worse in a few days is awful!

For those of you in your 6th or 7th week, did it really get that much worse for you at week 6?

  • Week 13 here. YES. 6W2D to be exact. Head. In. Toilet.

  • I start week 6 tomorrow, guess we'll see. My nausea symptoms have been few and far between this week, so I hope they don't come back too much! Smells are getting to me today though so who knows!

  • I have only had queasiness here and there so nothing has really changed, I'll be in my 7th week tomorrow.  All the symptoms I've been having for the past few weeks come and go a lot.  Like most days my breasts will hurt and if I don't sleep in a sports bra I wake up from the pain if I roll over onto them.

I've also been dealing with a runny/stuffy nose every morning and night, no headaches so far, been very tired but I am actually getting some energy back now.  I have had a lot of food aversions but if I just eat anyways it really does help.  I try to eat every hour or so of a small snack and a decently healthy meal a couple times a day.  Like oatmeal when I first wake up, snack on some fruit in the morning and maybe a piece of chocolate if I want it, lunch I do a peanut butter and jelly on wheat bread and after I'll snack on carrots or something and dinner is typically fairly healthy too.

I have heard that if you wake up and eat something and keep something on hand throughout the day, it will really help with the nausea, maybe that's why I haven't had it so bad? I'm not sure, each pregnancy is different.  Make sure you have things that will be easy on your stomach too, I hope it gets better for you!
  • I'm 6w4days, I'm home sick today. Went into work and lasted 1 hour!! I never had any sickness with my first, now I don't know what to do with myself. I'm pretty much forcing myself to eat every 2 hours or it gets worse with a hint of hunger.
  • OMG - 6W 2 DAYS TODAY AND  :-&
  • @KMPELC, I sailed gloriously through my entire pregnancy with my first as well!! Why can't they all be the same?!?!

Think BRATT Ladies (BANANAS, RICE, APPLES TEA AND TOAST) - that's what I do when my little one has an uneasy stomach.

    Edit: Forgot the damn Apples!

  • I was fine until yesterday. Hit 6W1day and feel awful! So sick!!!
  • I'm at 6w6d and I am just having sore boobs and being sooooo tired! One wave of nausea! I never thought I would be so excited to feel like I was going to throw up!
  • I started feeling nauseous around 6 weeks and 1 day. It hasn't been horrible...no vomiting...but food doesn't seem all that great once it hits my mouth. I mostly have background nausea. Had none during the 5th week. The more frequently i eat, the better I feel.

  • I was fine until week 6. Now I'm getting progressively more nauseous every day. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow and I'm hoping I don't have to vomit at work because I haven't told anyone and wouldn't want my coworkers to find out before my family!
  • Yesterday marked 6 weeks and I celebrated by having nice evening with my new best friend, the toilet.

It is kind of like a hangover for me.....I seem to actually feel better after I vomit, at least for a little while.

Good luck, ladies! Turns out being pregnant totally sucks, but it'll be worth it!
  • First time around I felt miserable around week 8. Anticipating the same although I am dizzy lately and was slightly nauseous today. Awesome.
Also, I'm not very nice right now either. My patience is very low for anything.
  • It is different for everyone, your symptoms could get worse or potentially change for the better. Hope they get better!

I'll be seven weeks tomorrow. I started like week 6 on the dot! Lol I went to te doctor tho and she gave me Diclegis. It's a morning sickness pill. Seems to help! I still feel nauseous but not as bad as I was before by any means. I'm a functioning puker now. Lol like the other girls have said everyone is different. So hopefully you won't get sick! Good luck :)
Ps if you do tho suckers have helped me a lot!!
  • I actually started feeling better at 6 weeks this pregnancy. Hope you're all feeling better soon! Morning sickness sucks!
  • I started with morning sickness at exactly 6 weeks which was yesterday. I've been throwing up ever since yesterday morning. Ugh!
  • It's funny how the babies somehow know how old they are and know to bring on the symptoms HARD at six weeks.  I'm six weeks tomorrow and the nausea (which had gone away for several days) is starting to come back with a VENGEANCE.  I'm anticipating a trip to the toilet/trashcan some time this weekend...
  • I'll be hitting 6 weeks on Sunday and I'm holding my breath! Vomiting is not my favorite pastime and I really hope it doesn't hit me too hard.

  • Im 5w4d. Anyone know why it gets bad at 6w? I havent felt nausea yet but have had just about every other common symptom.
  • my guess is just increased hormones and increasing baby size.

So far today not doing so bad. Have been really tired the past few days though.

  • Nothing yet... I didn't really get sick with my daughter though.  So I may escape it again.

  • Haven't had nausea yet! I'm 7w tomorrow. Ive only thrown up once and it wasnt even Because of the baby lol I have Strep Throat and that's why I threw up! I feel like shit but it's because of the throat not because of baby. Hopefully it will go away and I can continue to enjoy my pregnancy without a fever and a sore throat! :((
  • I remember it peaking around 8 to 9 weeks, and dying down at the 12 week mark.
    Due 10/4/2015 with my third
  • With my son, I started feeling icky about 5 seconds after I conceived and that lasted till about 13 weeks.

With this baby, I was exhausted beyond comprehension from about weeks 3-5 and then started feeling bouts of nausea. I'm 6-ish weeks now and it seems that the further along I get, the more intense my symptoms, but I don't have much to compare to yet.

  • I'm at 6w 2d and i started to feel rotten yesterday.  I'd had a little bit of nausea early on, but it's much worse now and more consistent.  Also having dizzy spells and just generally feeling quite yucky.
  • You're worried about week 6? Just wait till week 40 with seemingly no end in site and it feels like you have a bowling ball in your vag.

What she^ said. Or when they're putting sutures in and around your vagina. IN AND AROUND.
  • No difference in weeks 5-6 so far, both have had shitty nausea.

Omg. First PP poop is the worst. That totally rivals week 6.
Right? It's like giving birth all over again except you don't keep this baby

Ha. Or 4th trimester. When you don't sleep. And all you are is a set of milky boobs. And you haven't showered in 4 days. Man, I'll take week 6!
  • Everyone is aware that week 40 and birth is worse than nausea but for a lot of these woman this is their first baby. The fact you have been through it and you know it could be way worse is no reason to belittle their symptoms now. I find that so condescending and annoying maybe use your experience to educate others not lord your knowledge over them

They are using their experience to educate others. They're educating about what to expect later in pregnancy, and it's things that most people don't know. Everybody knows first trimester has morning sickness. Not everybody knows that pooping after delivery is as much a feat as delivering the baby. I find your comment condescending and belittling to the knowledge they are imparting to FTMs.
  • @PurplePeopleEater79‌ I was referring more to the week 40 comments and the ones basically saying week 6 symptoms are nothing. Bc they are important to some people. That is one of my biggest peeves when a women belittles another women's symptoms bc she is farther along or has BTDT. If you want to talk about the pooping thing that's cool but it's your opinion and experience not fact. I'm pretty sure if you poll it and ask 100 women if pooping after was as bad as birth they will say not all say yes. Did you not take stool softeners? My ob recommended starting them the week before delivery. I can tell you I tore my vag with both of my babies and that was waaaayyyy worse than a little rough poo at least for me. But that's my experience not the medical end all be all, just saying

It was meant to be humorous.

Step 1. Remove panties from ass crack

    Step 2. enjoy lighthearted humor

@Famous4lyfe‌ it takes a biiiig person to never give helpful insight and to only give rude snarky unhelpful advice. That being said here's some helpful advice before you worry about my panties and where they may be. You should worry about your head bc I have a feeling it may be in your own "ass crack" as you so eloquently put it and may be causing you your issues. Okay thanks!!
  • Well, my first poop after my daughter was born was a lot better than expected! Just for you first timers out there. I had a vaginal birth and also an episiotomy. I'm an RN; what helped were still softners and laxatives (colace and sennakot). I also had some pain meds on board. Don't let the above comments scare you. If you can push out a baby, you can push out a turd;) Yes, it was not pleasant but doable. That being said, I'm in my 6th week of this pregnancy and the exhaustion and headaches have hit me hard today! Been in bed all damn day.
  • Ladies, may I just request that we all be nice to one another too? Don't let someone else get you all riled up:) Everything is different for everybody. Let's show one another some respect.
