Weight gain!

I'm 11 weeks and have gained about 10 pounds already! I haven't been exercising yet because of how horrible I've felt but I haven't been eating much more than I did before the bfp and its (for the most part I fail to some cravings) been healthier too. I just don't understand how I have gained so much already. Anyone else in this position? What did you do to slow the weight gain down?

I'm up 7 but been exactly the same weight since 6 weeks ( now 14). I think we all just gain at different times, some earlier than others. I was shocked I gained 7 lbs so early but ob said not to worry, it would even out, and looks like it is as I haven't gained since

  • I have gained 12 pounds and I am 13 weeks.
  • I'm right there with ya!! I've gained 13 pounds and am only 11 weeks & 2 days. I'm really not eating more than usual, just laying off excersise until we're in the safe zone.
  • Me too. I'm athletic/ small when I'm not pregnant but the last two pregnancies I've gained 75 freaking pounds! Pisses me off! My husband loves to over feeds because he thinks it makes me happy. NO I'm trying hard this time but damn I hate how hungry I am all the time! It takes so much work to get back to my original size ( done it three times now) you'd think i would learn! Knock on wood.
  • I gained 10 lbs right away but tapered off. Haven't gained any more yet, which is great since my OB doesn't want me gaining more than 20 lbs (yeah right, 10 lbs of that will be all baby). Last time I gained around 50 lbs or so. Afterwards I lost it all except kept an extra 10 lbs. This time I plan to put more effort into post-partum weigh loss since I am not planning on a third baby.
  • im almost fifteen weeks and i didnt gain an ounce until like three days ago.i suddenly gained three pounds !
  • I'm up 8 lbs. I wasn't a big excersiser pre pregnancy, and still not. I'm fairly active with my job but that's a hit or miss (some days I'm tied to my desk, some days I am out packing retail fixtures for our stores). My gain is mostly because of eating habits. I only ate veggies and fruits from breakfast until dinner. Dinner would be protein and more veggies...now I am eating more whole grain, drinking alot more milk. I think the carbs are catching up with me. Guess I will see Thursday how my doc feels about it....if she's OK with it, then I'm happy.
  • I've gained around 10. Before this I was an avid exerciser but I'm exhausted and can't seem to find the energy to do it now. I lost 85 pounds after I had my son so gaining weight upsets me. Hoping to level out soon.

  • I'm almost 15 weeks and have gained 6 pounds. All of that was in my first 8 weeks and haven't gained since
  • I've only gained 3 so far. But I only eat when I'm hungry. Have you tried smaller meals more frequently?
  • Well I just weighed myself this morning, at the start of my 15th week. I've gained 9.5 lbs total since the day I got the BFP. Almost 3 lbs of that is in the last week! I'm kinda freaked out about that lol.
  • I am 11 weeks and have gained 9 pounds.  I am really frustrated because I know I have to work all of this off after the baby.  But I am starving all of the time!

  • I've gained 6 lbs (14 wks) and although I'm a FTM I lost 40 lbs before this so I'm trying to maintain peace with the gain... I keep blaming myself add if I've done something wrong though. I'm eating generally healthy/the same but didn't exercise for about 10 weeks due to fatigue and sickness. I'm back now so hoping that keeps me on track. Also giving into some sweets that I never would have before. Sigh. I don't want a big ol ba-donk-a-donk again :/

I gained 65 pounds with both of my pregnancies and I'm REALLY trying not to do the same with this one. So hard, especially when you feel less able to be active.
  • @pinklemonade87‌ Me too! At 14 weeks I've lost 6, but Im not sick and I just want junk food. This is a big change for me as I'm typically a healthy eater. On the upside I was overweight to start with so it's probably not a big deal. Plus, I am sneaking in healthy food via smoothies and forcing myself to eat carrots with my pizza :)
  • I have gained 5 pounds and I am 12 weeks. My doctor told me he wanted me to only gain about 5-10 more total. I have been really pissed off by that and can't seem to get that out of my head.
  • I'm 14 weeks and have lost almost 5 pounds. I've had a hard time with nausea and vomiting. My doctor was a little concerned and gave me an extra vitamin that is supposed to help... I'm already having trouble keeping down the prenatals. Fingers crossed!!
  • I gained 70 pounds with DS! I've gained about 12 pounds so far at 15 weeks, but I've also started out heavier than I did with my first. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and eat better than I did last time, so I've decided I'm not going to worry about the number so much. I'm going to stop looking when they weigh me at my appointments and I'm going to stop checking myself at home too. We'll see how long that lasts!

  • I am 14 weeks and have gained 5 lbs.  Notice my womb growing.
  • At 14 weeks I was up 5lbs, then in one week I gained 3lbs, now up to 8lb gain at 15 weeks- I did read it was normal for a big jump in weight and hunger now so that's what I am blaming it on haha

I haven't been exercising as much as I would like so that is not helping

with my son I gained a whopping 65lbs! 65 I was horrified- I started at 125 lbs at 5'5 so that was a pretty big jump- I was able to take it all off by about 3 months so I'm not too worried

Try not to be too hard on yourself- try to think before you eat- are you really hungry or do you just want to taste something really good ha - that has helped me

  • I guess my advice would be to try to put off giving in the the cravings. Don't worry about the gain, it sounds like a lot of us are in the same situation. I was told to only gain 15 and I have already put on 5-10 as well. I'm not going to stress about it. I just try to curb the cravings on the weekdays and not be too much of an idiot during the weekend. When you get a craving, just ask yourself, is this good for me is this nutrient dense, is it going to help my baby grow. I personally don't want my baby to be addicted to peanut butter m&m's and fried chicken before it's even born, so I try to limit the exposure to the stuff that puts weight on fast, ie. icecream, cookies and salty white foods.
    Be the Change.
    Make no assumptions
    Take nothing personally
    Be impeccable with your word
    Do your best

  • I've gained 22 pounds! 13 weeks... my dr is happy with my weight though because I started out 10 pounds underweight. I am so happy to look chunky and healthy!

    This is a joke, right?

  • I've lost 6lbs so far this pregnancy. Got a bit of a lecture at our check up today. I'm stable since my last appointment but she really wants me to start gaining. It's difficult because I feel like I'm starving until I start to eat and then I get so full so fast.

  • I'm 15 weeks and have gained about 6lbs (3lbs last week alone!!!) although some days I seem to retain 2 to 4 lbs of water weight on top of that, basically my weight fluctuates so much it's hard to keep track (that water weight is starting to scare me though, I feel like I won't be able to escape my face, hands and feet swelling like a balloon!) I'd never retained water before but these days I'm just salting everything so much it's ridiculous!!! Can't help it. I think it's normal to gain a lot at certain times and if you do your best to maintain healthy eating habits it should all even out. Also, some women gain more or less than others and it's just the way our bodies respond to pregnancy! It doesn't necessarily mean the weight will be harder to get off afterwards.. Trust in your body (hard to do I know..it's scary!!)
  • I'll be 14 weeks in 2 days and I haven't gained a single ounce! I was worried because I have most definitely been giving in to my cravings! My doctor told me yesterday that I might not gain much for a while. I don't get it because I'm showing like crazy! My doctor even said I may be further along. He said my uterus was very high?
  • @sjra1028 I'm in the same boat as you. I've been showing for the past week and a half (I'm 15w tomorrow), but I haven't gained back any of the 10+ lbs I lost during the first several weeks of pregnancy. My doctor also thought I was further along until my US measured the length of her and brought us back a couple weeks.

  • He won't do an ultrasound on me until my next appointment. :( we did an elective ultrasound last week but the lady said she couldn't give measurements. So who knows! Lol
  • Lost about 4 pounds to below pre-pregnancy weight then gained it back. So I'm still at pre-pregnancy weight at 14 weeks. My midwife isn't concerned due to the fact that I gained the weight back. Every woman is different :)

  • I'm 15 weeks and have gained about 10 lbs.. I'm now feeling better and can exercise more so that helps and I'm trying to eat better.
  • I'm a FTM and By the time I was 10 weeks I had gained 10 lbs and I blame about 5 of those on the holidays. I was SOOOO hungry in the first trimester and since I was tired I didn't exercise as much. Now I'm 15 weeks and haven't really gained any more since then thankfully. I would love to limit my weight gain to 25-30 lbs
  • Dang i have only gained 5 pounds. I'm 13 weeks. But week 6-11 I didn't want any food maybe that's why I haven't gained a lot
  • This is my third and I'm not going to step on the scale. At the doctors office I turn around. I'm just going to enjoy!! :)
  • I've gained like 3 pounds I think but mostly because the smoke gives me the munchies LOL
  • Almost sixteen weeks here and up three pounds. I'm a few pounds overweight so it's a good thing I haven't gained much. I can hardly eat very much in a sitting, I am eating like a bird lately!

  • I have gained 3 pounds so far and I am almost 15 weeks. I always eat when I am hungry (small portions many times a day) and I do not exercise.
