With DS I gained 50lbs and lost 40lbs by two weeks post partum. Turns out it was mostly just water retention. So, I won't be worrying about it this time. Do the best you can, and enjoy this time. That's my motto lol.
I've gained 6 lbs at 12 weeks and my exercise regime is walking 30 minutes 3 times a week. I haven't been weighing myself regularly and want to enjoy the time.
I personally don't want my baby to be addicted to peanut butter m&m's and fried chicken before it's even born, so I try to limit the exposure to the stuff that puts weight on fast, ie. icecream, cookies and salty white foods.
This is a joke, right?
This is interesting because although the idea is clearly baseless, I was told a very similar thing by my midwife in London. She said, the reason we tell people not to smoke during pregnancy is partly because if you smoke your baby is likely to grow up a smoker but if you eat lots of salad it will grow up liking salad. My reaction was I can't believe medical professionals are telling people this horse shit. Tell people the truth and trust them to make Their own decisions don't make up stupid reasons to eat salad!

Joke that I am trying to avoid junk food --no. That I believe baby will be addicted to junk if I eat it?-- yes a joke-- I guess I was making light. I know that if I start to give in to to these temptations, I might make a habit of eating garbage. I was over simplifying the fact that if I eat junk food, I'm creating a bad environment for LO. I am overweight and I am concerned about GD--no joke.

Yea i had my doc appointment yesterday and in four weeks i gained 12 lbs abd im only 15 weeks i was really shocked and felt bad but I chalk it up to the fact that the nausea had finally started to subside so i was eating and not really exercising guess to be honest i was scared to and just didn't feel good but the doc put me on a no sugar diet and i told my self imma start walking at least...and he said he wants me to eat five small meals a day (easier said than done for me) im really ashamed tht i put on so much so fast but also im bloated and gassy and still pretty much constipated......but for my baby imma do better i dont want to have a lot of weight to lose once i have my baby.
I have lost 6 lbs since I found out I was pregnant. I am 12w 4d. It's kind of weird though, because I am definitely not eating the healthiest food...but I do notice I get full faster than usual. And I stopped having nausea a few weeks ago but even then that didn't really stop me from eating meals. My doctor is not concerned, probably because I am overweight anyways. I am actually really afraid to gain a lot of weight...my doctor said I should only gain a max of 15 lbs for my whole pregnancy.
At 14.5 weeks I've gained 3 lbs. I gained 70 lbs with my son (9 years ago) and I refuse to let that happen. I'm tracking my calories, lifting weights, doing cardio, drinking water, blah blah blah. I look fat, I really do. I feel like it's hard to be graceful with all of this. My once athletic legs are covered in cellulite. Awesome.
@saresirene totally just feel/look fat right now at 15 wks. All of my gain is in my stomach, but doesnt look like a baby belly, just big. Hoping that changes soon...
I agree that it sounds impossible to compare. I'm at 12 1/2 weeks and after getting sick in week 9 have lost 11 pounds. I'm kind of overweight so I'm not really worried about it. I'm going to use where I'm at as my starting weight since it's been about 3 weeks now since I've seen any change. My doctor also wasn't concerned given that I'm eating well. I will note though that I also have no appetite and am having to make sure I eat.
15 weeks 2 days and just got weighed today at the MD. So far have gained 6 lbs. I feel pretty gigantic ( I'm only 5'2) but I have to get out of my head that gaining weight is bad lol.
I'm 12 weeks and up 3lbs. My OB wants me to gain 25-35 total since it will be more likely to have an easier L&d. Of course I'm also concerned about losing it afterwards too but my primary concern is a healthy delivery. Everyone is different tho. We will see!
Does anyone else just feel fat? I'll be 16 weeks on Tuesday and I've gained almost 10 lbs. But it doesn't look like I have a bump, my belly is just fatter lol. I know it's a silly thing to worry about, but ladies, is anyone else feeling the same way?
I'm gaining normal amounts with exercise and eating somewhat reasonably (still eating desserts and taco truck food). But in my mind, this weight is showing. Everywhere! The fat role on my back ALREADY? I'm 17 weeks with a 6 lb gain but lord, it's killing me. Everything is bigger. The irony that I wanted to be pregnant and now am fighting looking pregnAnt. I just feel fat, too. I was in tears because I'm clearly not going to be one of these super-model pregnant ladies. I'm pregnant everywhere.
18wks tomorrow and gained 10lbs. I swear the last 4 were in the last 2wk!. First trimester in was ravenously hungry and tired so I didn't exercise at all. I just started exercising this past week 1hr-3days a week: So far weight is holding steady. It's all in my stomach and torso... oh and my boobs, went up 2-3 sizes in last few weeks lol. My bump could prob pass for a beer guy if you didn't know i was pregnant; hoping it starts to round out more so I don't just feel fat and look clearly pregnant lol. Aiming for 25-35 total lbs as a FTM so well see!
Let's see... Last time with DD I lost 10lb in the first 14 weeks. I lost without exercise and eating a pretty mixed diet of healthy and junk IMO. I ended up gaining the ten back plus another 15 in second and third tri. This happened just eating better and exercising when I can. DD was almost 9lb and within a year I had lost my baby weight plus another 20lbs. I was just BF (may or may not have helped) and eating healthy and trying to exercise when I could.
This time I had gained 9lbs by 16w. I haven't been on the scale since but I think it's normal enough. For my weight I think I should gain only 20-25lb so I hope I don't gain 10lbs with each trimester but if I do so be it. I'm doin my best so it can't be too bad.
