Sprinkle

I think I'm gonna ask my BFF and my sister to throw me a sprinkle shower. I don't need a whole shower, but I'm def gonna need some stuff. Should I let them pick the theme or tell them I want an autumn themed shower? Something like "We're falling for you, baby"

Re: Sprinkle

  • I think asking for a party to be thrown for you is tacky so I wouldn't. If they offer that's another story and sure, throw out some theme ideas.

  • But how would they know I need stuff if I don't ask? I mean, I had to sell most of my stuff from DS to pay the rent when DH was having a hard time getting gigs.
  • I think an autumn-themed sprinkle would be cute! Meh I think it's fine to have a second shower. Haters gon hate. ;)

I'm sorry, were you calling me rude? Because that's a TOU violation you know.
  • The word rude is a TOU violation? Doubtful.
  • Ugh tacky fest. Where is the baby shower board when you need them? I bet you'll have a diaper raffle too.
  • What's a diaper raffle? Do I get free diapers?
  • I don't understand why ppl get so mad about second showers. what if birthdays where treated the same? Oh sorry you had a birthday party for your last birthday, no more parties for you! F that sheezy

A birthday party doesn't have to have gifts. It's just a celebration a shower is where you SHOWER the MTB with gifts.

Haha. This. Yes, the baby shower board. Oh wait, they were probably all ban.

    QFP.

    1. It's rude to ask someone to throw you a shower.
    2. Are you calling it a sprinkle because you already have a child? If so, then you've already been welcomed into motherhood and ALL subsequent showers are tacky.
    3. You made the child, you are responsible for providing for it. Don't rely on others.
    4. The person, if anyone chooses to throw you one, who hosts your shower makes all those decisions.

If you are a troll, this is the perfect troll-like post.
I guess next you are gonna say I'm relying on others bc I get Medicaid. RUDE!
Honestly, I like your idea. I think it sounds adorable. And of course you'll have to provide for your child but there is nothing wrong with getting some gifts from a baby shower.. Did someone offer to throw you a shower? Or are you just trying to see if somebody will help you by doing that?
And you are not a troll.

@Tourmaline15‌ I don't think a sprinkle is tacky. It sounds like fun! If someone wants to throw you a party you should let them but I don't think you should ask them to do it.

A diaper raffle is another "modern" way to dictate what people should buy you for your baby shower. Generally, this is in addition to your other gift. And the book they asked you to bring on the shower invite.

I don't even want to tell you. It'll just perpetuate your tackiness level.
  • @Baby3oo‌ My sister asked me for a shower for her 2nd baby...so I feel it's only fair to ask HER for a sprinkle!!

    And
  • @Tourmaline15‌ that sounds completely understandable. It doesn't hurt to ask.
  • Those proboard ladies know the TOU violations like the back of their hand. Just sayin.
  • @pettybetty‌ You think I should go with a different theme?

  • @dredford a diaper raffle is when the shower invitations request that in addition to a gift you bring a pack of diapers for the MTB for her "diaper raffle". When you get to the shower the hostess will exchange your pack of diapers for a raffle ticket. Then there is a drawing from all the raffle tickets to win a small prize or two from the hostess.

On asking someone to throw you a sprinkle I'm going to go with @pettybetty saying its tacky, that being said if they offer go for it. I threw a party for my sisters third baby bc there was a 9 year gap between her first and last. She didn't ask for it I just knew she hadn't kept anything from her first two babies. Are you close to your family that they would know you guys are tight financially? It's unfortunate that you hit a rough patch and needed sell your baby stuff, but it's not your family and friends job to fix the situation. It's great if they offer to help you but this is your baby not theirs, maybe hint around that you need baby stuff before outright asking. All that being said I don't know your family dynamics so if your sister asked you for one maybe thats ok in your family. Good Luck!
  • My SIL asked if she could throw me a shower - I am super excited. She asked if I had a preferred theme -- I think I will suggest Eloise if its a girl.

I thought you weren't supposed to have showers for a second child. Isn't that an Emily post no no?  :-??

  • Nooooo second showers. Also it's absolutely rude to ask someone to throw you a shower. You made the baby. You buy the stuff you need for it.
  • Yes! You should ABSOLUTELY ask for the shower you want. When you send the invitations, make sure you write on the bottom of each one a specific gift. That way everyone will bring a gift and it will be exactly what you want. I would request books instead of cards too but definitely request that cash be placed inside.
  • I've already sent out invites to my baby shower (for my second baby). I thought it would be a creative way to announce my pregnancy. I plan to do a similar celebration at a gender reveal party as well. It's up to the guests to bring gifts but I know I'll have at least two baby showers. Why should I miss out on all the fun the second time around?

Make sure you ask guests to bring diapers to your gender reveal party. That way you can stock up early and save your money for fun things for the baby.

My eye is twitching so bad it's about to jump the socket
    ROFLOLOLOL.

I've not had a baby shower...ever. It's REALLY not my thing. What I have had is a kind of, "Come see my baby" gathering with friends post delivery. I don't like asking people for specific gifts (ie registry) and already have everything I need by the time the baby is born so it isn't so much about me, but about baby. I didn't have a bridal shower either...idk I just don't feel it like most women do.

I have thrown baby/bridal showers though. I really love planning parties. I just don't want it reciprocated lol.
  • My 2 cents: Asking for a party is tacky.

But if someone wants to throw a party for someone they love, whether it's for their first child or their 10th, more power to them. If anyone offers tho throw me a shower or sprinkle for my 2nd, I'm not going to say no. The tacky police can jump all over that if they want.

What's tacky is expecting someone else to take care of your baby, which is a far cry from accepting someone's offer of a shower.
