Does anyone have to wait until 10 weeks for first appointment

I have a phone appointment at 8 weeks where they will tell me where to go to get blood work and get information but I won't get to hear the heart beat until 10 weeks at my first appointment! My first u/s won't be until 12 weeks. Anyone else in the same boat?

With all the stress on this board with early u/s, I wouldn't be worried about it! My first appointment is at 8w5d but I'm going to a birthing center with no u/s on site. I'll probably only opt for the 20 week.

At 8 and a half weeks I will have an appointment with the nurse for paperwork then at 9 and a half weeks I'll see the doctor. I asked if there was any prep for the appointment, knowing you need to drink water for an ultrasound, and was told no. So I have no idea if I'll even have an ultrasound yet.

I had a nurse intake appointment at 7 weeks just to get my health history and get labs drawn but my first actual OB appointment won't be until next week when I'm 10 1/2 weeks. My clinic only does a routine 20 week u/s but I had one done at 8 weeks because there was concerns about some cramping and bleeding I was having. I thought that was really far along to wait for a first appointment too but I guess it's not totally out of the norm.

I'm ten weeks tomorrow, so half my wait is over. But I just had my intake appt yesterday with the nurse (9w5d), my first midwife appt is next week at eleven weeks, and I MIGHT get to hear the heartbeat. They usually wait til twelve weeks, but might make an exception for me because after next week it'll be four weeks til my next appt. And I don't get an ultrasound for 8-10 more weeks because they don't do ultrasounds besides the 18-20 week one unless there's a problem with mom or baby. Which is OK with me. The less ultrasounds, the healthier for baby. I just need to hear that heart beating and I'll be happy.

My first isn't until 9w4d which is Feb 24th. I do feel like a lot of people are getting appointments early but that's usually because of complications in the past or current complications. Sure hope time flies for us all. Just want to hear that little heart beat!!

I think that is within the normal window. My OB does a first appointment between 8-10 weeks.

My first appointment isn't until 11 weeks on 2/24. I get my US at 9 am and meet my new OB at 9:45 to go over everything. I thought it was normal until I saw all these posts about US at 5-8 weeks. It got me paranoid that something would be wrong and waiting til 11 weeks is an eternity to ease my worries. I stopped reading a lot of the posts about early US and issues because it just fuels my crazy.

You can't hear a heartbeat on a doppler until at least 10 weeks usually so if you would have been seen before you wouldn't have any "confirmation"! Early ultrasounds are usually for women who have NO CLUE how far along they are or those with previous losses. I know it's worrying and so annoying to feel in the dark but this is normal.

My first appointment and ultrasound is in Monday, at 7 weeks. I guess every office does it different? I'm not high risk or anything, but conceiving without medical help was unexpected, but no one even mentioned that when I called the office with the good news.

I have my first u/s at 9 weeks 4 days (2/16) I did blood work and saw my family doctor at 6 weeks. I also have an appointment with my ob at 11 weeks 5 days(03/02).

My first appt isn't until 12 weeks -- I nearly died when they told me that because it just seems bizarre to me that you can be done with your first trimester without ever having been seen by a doctor! Seems like an eternity to wait.

With my first son I had my first appt at 7.5 weeks. I had an internal ultrasound and heard the heartbeat. With this pregnancy I don't have an appt until 9 weeks but they still do the internal ultrasound and heartbeat. I guess every facility is different though!

My first appointment was at 8 weeks, but my office will schedule first appointments anytime between 8-10 weeks. They did a vaginal ultrasound on my first visit where we saw the baby and learned the heart rate, but I believe that was just to confirm the due date. I hadn't had any complications up to that point, no prior pregnancies, and knew the LMP was at most only 4 days off from when I ovulated, so I'm guessing it's just common practice at my clinic to do an ultrasound at that point. Waiting until 8 weeks to go in was torture though!

I went in at 6 weeks and because of the boards here of all early u/s my DH and I went in so excited to see our LO and it was just a get to know you, ask questions and information about what's happening and when things will be done (I. E. U/S). Talk about a let down

but we did find out and schedule our first u/s on 2/16 I'll be 11 weeks 2 days. Each week is taking forever

we haven't told anyone and both have that day off so depending on how it all does we may be spilling the news to immediate family after the appointment.

I'm a FTM who went in for a confirmation appointment and bloodwork at 6 weeks, and I don't go back until 10 weeks for the doppler. Unless something goes wrong and we can't hear anything at that appointment, I probably won't be having an ultrasound before 12 weeks either. I'm glad to read that I'm not the only one. Seeing all these early ultrasound posts were making me both nervous and jealous!! I'd love to be able to see that little thing!

My nurse intake appt will be on the 17th and I'll be 9w5d I don't see the doc until my 13th week! March 9th. I'm hoping the nurse can get me in a bit sooner... Reception said she could do that if she thought it was necessary. Like the above poster I thought it was weird that I wouldn't see the dr at all for my first trimester. (And I'm what the medical community considers high risk... 37 and previous c-section). The other dr I would have considered will be out of the office in Sept though so maybe that's why they're backed up.

We had an ultra sound at 8 weeks that way they can measure and be Specific on the due date in case we think we are 8 and really 6 or 10. We did that and were about 6 weeks gestation came back in two weeks and confirmed 8 weeks. Then our next us is on 20 weeks so big gap

I don't know about a Doppler but I heard my littles one heart and saw it at 7 weeks have video and all . That was transvaginal though .

10 weeks is pretty normal, and my friend didnt get an us until her 13 week. She also found out she was having a boy it was crazy early but tech was 100% and she was right. Every pregnancy is different along with the doctors. Im almost 10 weeks and my dr did an US around 7 weeks due to spotting and possible ectopic but everything was perfect aside from a sch but thankfully we saw the heartbeat and baby was great but i think it's more uncommon to get and US before 12 weeks so i wouldn't worry about it.

The receptionist I spoke with said they have been asking for people to come after week 11 because they have a hard time confirming a heart beat and many women have had to come back for a second appointment in later weeks. It's definitely a long wait though!

I had a loss last year. My first u/s is tues and I will be 7w3d however they said they usually do them 7-9wks so I think it's every office and case is different. I know at 7wks I can hardly wait to see the little bean!!:)

I had my first appointment at 9 weeks with my midwife and they had sent me for my "dating ultrasound" at 5w5d which was waaaaay too early!! We have our next ultrasound at 12w2d

. It's normal for an OB or midwife to not see you before then. I was told it's between 8-10 weeks that they like to first see you

I heard the heartbeat on the Doppler at 9 weeks. There's a possibility they may not be able to find it, but mine was a strong 170 on the Doppler at that point

I'm 9 weeks along, had my first appointment 2 weeks ago, next appointment is on the 27th, she told me I may get to hear the heartbeat. I thought I was the only one that had to wait for what seems an eternity..

I think it's different for everyone! I had my first appointment at 6 weeks and I heard the heart beat at 8 weeks and I go back again at 11 weeks. So it depends on your doctors office. Good luck

I'm going to midwifes through a hospital and they don't do an appointment until 10-12 weeks. I scheduled mine to be the day I turn 10 weeks it's a hard wait! I have no idea when I'll even have an ultrasound maybe not until 20 weeks? Well I sure hope not at least. Sometimes it's hard being patient.

I just had my first ultrasound today at 8wks4days and was worrying about not being able to see anything but I saw my jelly bean and also got to hear the strong little heart beat. I'm glad I didn't have to wait any longer to see baby, I'm a FTM, I think my doc booked me in so early just to get it dated.

I'm 8w6d today, first time mom, 37 and will be seeing my midwife for the first time this afternoon. From what I understand it'll just be a 'sit down and talk about all the things' kind of appointment. I will get my first U/S at around 12 weeks (dating scan) and another at 20 weeks. As we want to get the tests done for Down etc there'll also be a nuchal scan scheduled but not sure at around what week. I am really excited for our first U/S and the further along in pregnancy I am the more impatient I get (I knew from the start it wouldn't be untill around 12 weeks that I would get my first U/S)!!

I am right there with you! I was not able to get in for an appointment any sooner. ( I think just for the fact my Ob is overbooked ) I have been so anxious. I just want to make sure everything is okay.

I think it's quite common in the UK not to have an appointment until at least 8 weeks, when your designated midwife calls, and sends you for bloodworks etc, unless you've had problems before in which case it's earlier. Then the first scan/dating scan at around 12 weeks. At least this is the impression I got from my GP and the NHS paperwork he gave me... Well, 5 weeks to go for me then

I got mine at 9 weeks only because I had a ectopic pregnancy last year. Not only does depend on the doctor but also your history.
