Do the right thing, sweetie. You didn't ask to be sick. This is part of being a mom. Make the right decision for your child and take care of your child's mother's health. ♡ T&P!!
I agree with PPs and would stick with the group! So much better to take care of your health now and babymoon later. As for meds, that is your choice. I'm on some meds and I had a long discussion with a psychiatrist who specializes in peri-natal mental health. She shared all the applicable research with me and we weighed pros and cons. I'm actually seeing her today! We decided it was better for me and baby to be on medication at this time. We discussed BF as well- I'm going to BF. So think carefully but definitely make your own educated decision!
I have no experience with this but I am sending lots of T&P to you! If it were me, I would postpone or cancel the babymoon. Right now, your health and mental well-being are so much more important. Kudos to you for being proactive and taking care of yourself. It will only make you that much better of a mama.
I'm so proud of you for not waiting to get help and being proactive!! I have struggled with PTSD and depression for years now. I was able to keep taking my meds and nurse. Talk to the docs about your options. You need to do what's best for your family, and that may mean not being able to bf. I think a happy, healthy mama is way more important than nursing! Prayers going your way. Don't stay away too long, we will miss you!
Thoughts and prayers to you at this hard time. I agree with PPs that you should postpone your babymoon. I think you could still have fun going later and this IOP might be really helpful. If your doctors are suggesting it then I would try it. You're not messing things up by being sick, in fact you're getting help and being proactive which is really good.
I have bipolar 1 and have been on medication all except two days of this pregnancy. I can understand not wanting to be on medication but if you need to be then that's what you should do. By making your health a priority you're doing what is best for your baby. I think it's awesome that you're putting your baby first and getting help.
As far as breastfeeding that might not be entirely out of the question but even if it is a lot of people formula feed for many different reasons and it still works. GL!
I have realized that everything I want to write has been written. You have received some amazing advice which I agree with strongly. You are a very strong individual and you're doing the right thing for yourself, your family and your baby. Big massive creepy hugs my dear
I don't have any additional advice to give, but I will echo what others said: I'd postpone my trip. IOP changed my husband's life. I have a background in psychology, and it's really important to see therapy all the way through. Actually, stopping before therapy is complete is often more problematic than never starting. Therapy brings up lots of issues, and, if therapy is not completed, those issues are just there, right at the surface, causing more problems than they were before therapy began.
I would also take meds in lieu of bfing. Bfing in and of itself is intense and often stressful for lots of moms, my own experience included. The moms I have known who were on meds and stopped to bf because of guilt or whatever reason were so much happier and healthier for their children when they started taking their meds again. There is absolutely no shame in FF.
I also want to say kudos to you for being proactive about your health. As others have said, you're an awesome mom already. T&P's for you and your family.

I have skimmed the previous responses so I know what I say is probably repeating with some of the others have said. But, first of all, it is very important that you take care of yourself first. You will be a better mother and wife for it. I agree that postponing the trip is probably the best plan. In regards to breastfeeding and medication, I was prescribed medication for anxiety and depression after my first baby was born. The doctor said it was safe to use while breastfeeding so I was able to take my medication and breastfeed at the same time. I don't know what kind of medication you would take, but it is certainly possible to take something compatible with breastfeeding. T&P to you and your family during this tough time.

I have no experience with this but I hold you in a high regard that you can be open with a group of internet "strangers". You have no reason to feel any guilt or shame for doing what you know is best for yourself which ultimately impacts your little one. The only one piece of "info" I can give you is that if you are wanting BM over formula to look into Human Milk for Human babies (can I post that here? if not sorry) where mothers donate milk to other mothers who can't keep up with supply or were unable to nurse for whatever reason. I recently donated a very large stash to mom who had just gotten to take her preemie baby home and I know how thankful she was, but it also made me feel so good that I could help. Good luck to you, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
I know it's been said before and I just want to echo what PP said. Postpone the trip, and take advantage of this opportunity that you have proactively found! You are strong and are in tune with your body and moods and that is honestly the most important step. I'm proud of you. I just wanted to add from experience. It's easy to get distracted with others in the group, try not to compare or judge. The people that you least expect can provide value to your life. Make the focus of being there YOU and the baby. Keep and open mind and it will get easier. Also, you may be in the perfect place, because you will put the work in and eventually be someone that another mom in need can look to that comes into the group. I think you've been given a blessing, especially one that is paid for fully by your insurance. I wish you nothing but luck and I want to say how proud I am of you!
