@everydaygirl83 I don't think you should feel guilty about that at all. You could do something nice for him when you have the energy, sounds like an amazing guy
@gldnbearz Have you looked into Dequervains tendonitis? That's what I had from EBF and lifting LO and I got to the point where I could barely change a diaper. The orthopedist gave me a cortisone shot in my wrist and it cleared up within 48 hours (got a little worse first though). It hasn't come back and it's been almost a month.
This was the PCP's diagnosis. I had a good LOL when I read that the injury was also called "Blackberry thumb" or "gamer's thumb".
Treatment options for now: avoid activity (we both rolled our eyes), rest (another haha, but DH has been helpful), ice, splints/brace, ibuprofen, and wrist exercises. Maybe physical therapy. We didn't talk about cortisone injections. I'll give it a couple of weeks and get back to her.
DH has already been splitting baby duties with me when he is home and sure how much less I can get away without when he is at work.
LO's vaccination appointment as well as could be expected. She screamed twice during the injections, then was quiet and took a bottle before we left the MD's office. Napped in the car on the way home and didn't start crying until about four hours later. Finally gave her a dose of acetaminophen after she refused the pacifier and bottle and snuggles. Then she'd snooze uncomfortably.
Next hurdle is to secure day care. I made it a task for DH who didn't realize how difficult it would be to get a spot we like.
@heisenberg- I have not yet taken LO out by myself other than to walk the dog near our house. I have not yet taken her out for a drive myself or on public transit (my main mode of transport to work). All trips have been done with DH or someone else behind the wheel. Can you say anxiety? Yes, I can. It takes so much longer to get out of the house these days: change her, feed her, and pump for me. Ugh.
@gldnbearz for your dequarvains, you could try wearing a wrist splint when you are awake and doing a lot with LO for support. Also, I would recommend some ice massage-take an ice cube and wrap half in a paper towel where you can hold it. Massage the tendons in circular motion with the ice for 5 minutes or so until the area is numb.
Last night I dreamed I forgot to buy either of my parents a Christmas present. My mom cried and my dad called me ungrateful. Then someone rips my dad's arms off right as my brother's legs are caught on something and break off his hips. So they are like walking dead people, and I'm chuckling to myself that if they would just join forces they would be a whole person. Then they turn toward each other, and I'm like cool, they might do it, right? But then snarly dad falls on top of me, and I'm like oh yeah, walkers care more about eating people than having arms, CRAP! So I'm trying to fight him off and scream, but it's dark and I can't speak and I'm paralyzed! I can feel him creeping up my side...
Then I wake up and realize I have fallen asleep breastfeeding, and the baby is kneading me with her little fingers. AHHH! Someone really is trying to eat me!
