I know there are threads about this on other boards, but I haven't seen anything definitive and am seeing a lot of mods that have been banned. Anyone know anything about the new TOU?

From what I can gather, it's supposedly going to get more specific about what "attacking" vs "being snarky" is. Many folks think it's going to go the ways of TK, and are less than thrilled. Basically, all signs point to that TB is going to lose its essence.

This is a huge guarantee. Changing the TOU is their way of getting the "meanies" and "bullies" out; banning the Mods who actually give a shit also helps in this effort. They're simply sweeping what they think is shit under a huge proverbial rug. What are the rightfully-pissed-off regulars going to do? Write shit reviews. It's logical and it will happen.

This place will be a shadow of its former self.

Many people then commented on the nature of the letter and how it was inappropriate and how badly this was going to go over. We asked for timing clarification. We called out that the letter was passive aggressive and seemed to violated the Community Rules itself.

And a FEW but not all MODs who spoke out were suddenly banned for supposedly sharing information about the Mod Board and speaking out against XO publicly- though the evidence is weak. If it is for things said on the Mod board, then more should have been banned. And no evidence was given to support that they shared it so... They banned the naysayers that spoke loudest, and that lead this group.

And then she posted that they were banned for conflict with BM and that specific reasons will not be given. And that Bump higher ups do not like the culture of Parenting and are okay with a mass exodus.

Well this is massively disappointing. They can do what they want with their board, of course, but I can't imagine that this is going to be a good move from a monetary standpoint. It's going to turn into a wasteland of one-off posters, probably.

Sigh. I really enjoy having a group to go to where people are going through the same things I'm going to, and I'm not comfortable removing my anonymity yet or going to an alternate board. I'm pretty bummed.

I'm so disappointed. The snark, honesty and no non-sense atmosphere was what I loved about TB, not to mention all the awesome gifs. Do they really think this will change the atmosphere? They're not the brightest bulbs in the pack, are they.

Genuinely asking because I'm confused but why would you come to a site known for snark and honesty instead of other sites that are known for a different atmosphere? It seems odd that you would stay when you don't like it, instead of finding a site better suited to your personality.

I'm generally a lurker on most forums I visit and I really enjoy the bulk of the threads and posts on here. It's the first place I found after we found out that we were pregnant and I had no idea that there was such a widespread reputation or atmosphere. I thought it was a select few individuals, but clearly I was wrong. I have no issues with snark or honesty, but I do have issues with people who are brutally honest to the point of being disrespectful.

The way I read the new guidelines, snark in and of itself isn't a violation. Neither is profanity. Fuck off is off the table, though. I edited my "before you report a post" thread to reflect that.

Also, keep in mind these just went into effect last night so the reporting of old posts needs to stop. They were not subject to the new guidelines and no one will be warned for it.

Wow. I'm saddened but not surprised by some people trying to report old posts.

Let me try the new phrasing. I feel like the vindictive behaviors by some users are harmful to the community. I gently suggest they take a break from the computer to deal with possible constipation issues. I understand having something stuck up there is enough to make a person grouchy and can lead to irrationality.
