No Cry Sleep Solution

My LO is sleeping 6 to sometimes 8 hour stretches, but is still waking at least once during the night. And it's inconsistent. My concern is that she has to be held to fall asleep each night, and once or twice during the night when she fusses and can't be shooshed back. She can't put herself to sleep if I put her in crib awake. It only happened twice of the many times I tried, and drowsy but awake is not working. I'm so stressed about creating bad sleep habits, mostly because I'm hearing it from others!

We tried CIO one night against my wishes (husband insisted because doctor said to). It was awful for her and us, and I'll never do it again unless I have to! She was inconsolable for a long time after and more upset than I've ever seen her. I Know it works wonders for some families and babies, but I don't think it's for us at this point. My husband is willing to try it again and thinks we should.

I bought the No Cry Sleep Solution book. I'm wondering who has used this method and was it successful? About how long did it take? It seems it takes a lot longer from what I read so far.

Re: No Cry Sleep Solution

  • I read the book in 24 hours because I was so desperate. It did help.

If you're breastfeeding, unlatch LO after they're done eating. This helped my DS not need to be latched to stay asleep.

Ultimately the book helped but we ended up having to let him fuss a little to get to sleep.

We did 5 min the first couple nights then 8 then 10 min. That's all it took. If he started crying I went in.

It took 4 days to triple his sleep time. The book has great tips but do what works best for you.
