I have quite possibly the stupidest question of the feed... I don't wear full seated underwear, I don't even think I own a pair; I assume it is not advisable to wear a thong after giving birth. Does anyone know how long I will have to go before returning to wearing thongs?
Nope- I have the same question...

My old navy full panel jeans don't fall down, but my motherhood ones do. Anyone recommend good maternity tights? I bought a cheap pair and even fully pulled up they were still sagging under my crotch and I put a hole in them trying to get them up higher. I really want to wear tights when I need to go to two weddings and my shower before April but I don't want to have the same problem.
The line by Spanx at Target (can't think of the name) have worked well for me.

I haven't tried Blanqi's maternity tights, but their support tops are awesome and everyone seems to rave about the tights. They're really pretty too! https://www.blanqi.com

Anyone experiencing numbness or tingling in their thigh ? I looked it up and said its common during pregnancy . Just looking to see what you girls are doing for it ? I see the doctor Wednesday I'll be asking him for tips on how to treat this.
Sorry for the late response, but I get this pretty frequently.  Doc says it's normal; it has to do with LO's position and pinched nerves.  There's really not much I've found that helps, I just wait it out.

@prpljade I'm telling you, wearing my belly band over my full-panel jeans was the best advice I ever got.  It holds the pants up and is tight but not uncomfortable.  I have 0 pairs of pants that don't fall down after a while and having to yank your pants up every three steps is not cute.

My question: has anyone's belly button popped yet?  Mine hasn't and I'm wondering if I'm weird or if it's coming.  I feel strangely out of the pregnancy loop on some things, and others I feel like I have more than my fair share :)

Edit: added stuff here rather than make multiple posts.

Stupid question that my H asked and I couldn't answer: does anyone know if there is a scientific/physiological reason for nesting, or is just one of those pregnancy unknowns?

Thank God for this thread because I have a ridiculous question for STMs. Has anyone found a correlation between how active the baby is in utero and their personality as a baby? Mine is an absolute nutcase, wiggling and kicking hardcore for most of the day. I'm already envisioning a difficult baby, a child with my ADD and anxiety problems.

I'm curious about this as well. My little one is awake and kicking the crap out of me all night long. I have problems falling asleep because of the kicking and after I do fall asleep , I get woken up again from the kicking.

    --------------
My DS was so super chill as a fetus, like chill enough that I was worried about him on numerous occasions because he was so still. Now he's and almost 3 wild, crazy, never stops kind of little dude. This little girl is always so busy in there. I feel her moving all day long.

I don't think Its one of those things you can really judge before they're here. There are a lot of factors that determine disposition I think.

Maternity pants. Are there any out there that don't fall down? Is it just my body shape that doesn't agree with them? I can't wear leggings for work, it's against safety policy and dress
Code. :( I have a pair of Old navy and a pair of motherhood maternity that I wear but they constantly ride down and I end up with the band around my hips and the crotch halfway to my knees. They are so uncomfortable!
I was looking forward to comfy maternity pants but now I wih I could go back to my normal pre-pregnancy jeans!
Ideas? I've true adding a belly band on top to hold them up but that's not even working now. Am I destined to look saggy and frumpy and feel like my ass is hanging out until April??

Edit to add- pre pregnancy I always wore a belt. I had to or had this same problem usually with pants. Leads me to beleive my body shape is incompatible with pants.

I have been wearing ON full panels, they stay up for a while.. But beware that sizing is weird, one pair will fit great and the next in the same size won't.

My stupid q: our main baby shower will be a co-ed event. I don't want to do any gift opening, but I also know that some guests will be excited about people seeing the cute baby gifts they've picked out. I've mentioned to my mom that maybe we could ask people to wrap in clear paper/not gift wrap so the gifts can easily be put in display, without everyone having to watch me open things like breast pump accessories. My question is, does anyone have suggested invitation wording for asking this? Would you be annoyed if you were asked to do this? Or would you welcome the idea of a) not having to wrap and b) not having to watch the mom-to-be unwrap each gift?
I'm surprised that most of you think it would be rude. I actually had a bridal shower that was a "display shower" and I can't remember the wording on the invitation but it asked guests to bring unwrapped gifts to be put on display. The women who hosted the shower were my MIL's friends from her mom's club - all very formal, traditional Southern ladies who are very aware of and concerned with proper etiquette. It was their idea to do the gifts that way and none of the guests seemed put off by it. Maybe it's a regional thing?

    FYI--Really SUPER dumb question ahead.

I have this maternity dress that I want to wear to my SILs wedding shower next weekend. It more like a capped sleeve on me. WTF do I wear on my legs? It's Chicago in winter so it's really cold! Do inhale to wear something? I think so. I'm thinking either nude or red shoes. I have a cute belt to wear with it. Should I just scrap the idea? I really wasn't thinking this far in advanced when I bought the dress.

We are throwing a baby BBQ co-ed party with a band so it is not the typical shower, but in the invite I put where I registered and gifts are welcomed wrapped and unwrapped. I know my husband's friends said they would bring a gift but it might be in a kroger bag. So, I put it on there thinking people would know it's casual and won't be the normal shower they are used to. I hope no one thinks I was being rude. ....

Idk If they make maternity styles but I had some really lovely sweater knit tights that I wore frequently when I lived in Idaho. They're cute and super warm.

Oops I have a stupid question as well.... If I don't have heartburn will my kid be bald? I know this is an old "wives tale" that heartburn=hair on your baby's head, but the more moms I talk to the more this tale is proving to be true. DH and I both have insane a amounts of hair on our heads so I will be shocked if LO doesn't have any hair, but hey, anything can happen.

I read an article somewhere (it's been a while, no idea where) that there actually is a correlation between heartburn and hairy babies. Something about elevated estrogen levels causing more heartburn and also being connected with more hair on the babies head. No idea if that's actually true, but it seems like an old wives tale that holds up more than some others. Who knows though! I'm curious about it because I haven't had even a second of heatburn this pregnancy. :)

I'm thinking you probably won't be outside long, so pantyhose should be fine and then you can wear nude shoes. If you need more, I would try some gray sweater tights from Target and black shoes. Yes, you can wear black and navy together. :) The dress looks really cute!

ETA: I bought the next size up in sweater tights for my brother's rehearsal dinner and they fit over my bump just fine. Just in case you can't find actual maternity ones you like.

The gray tights and black heels sounds good !!

Lots of heartburn in all three pregnancies. First baby was bald until she was two. Second baby had a little more hair. I just have a short torso, so my stomach gets really squished. That seems more scientific than the baby's hair causing heartburn.
Same here.  I had heartburn to the point of tears on several occasions with my son, and he was bald for close to a year.  I also have a short torso, and can get behind that causing heartburn more than the amount of hair on a fetus.  I've had moderate heartburn this go round so we shall see in a few months what the result are this time.

@natstrac29‌ , @mrsjack53‌ , @hillbillywife‌ , and @SharkFarts‌ . It wasn't the cold necessarily that was my concern--it was that I didn't want to be bare legged in winter and have gramma say something stupid to me. She's never bare legged! I didn't think about gray sweater tights! I think I'll do that and maybe the brown boots as someone suggested! Thanks ladies. Guess I'm going shopping today!

My questions is about growth spurts.. after her quiet periods, my stomach seems to have grown overnight. I think I read that after a baby goes through a growth spurt inside they sleep for a bit.. has anyone noticed that if LO hasn't been quite as active that their stomach seems noticably bigger? It would explain quiet times, growing has to be exhausting to these little beans.

Actually, now that you mention it, yes! There's always a couple days that LO slows down on the kicking and moving, (more gentle nudge-like kicks) Then I wake up a few days later looking a whole new pregnant. I've noticed this aswell!

If they know proper etiquette then they also know that it's not proper etiquette to point out to the hostess or GOH at a party that they're being rude. So going along with it and not showing you how off put they are is exactly what you'd expect...

    Food for thought

    -----------

My opinion on this subject is that it's all up to the guest of honor. I've heard of these 'display showers', and personally I would never want one and would think it was strange if I were invited to one, but I don't like being dictated what or how to give gifts in those situations. However, if you and your host are okay with it, go for it, it's your shower.

I think of it like other aspects...I'd rather not have to eat baby food or smell 'candy poop' in a diaper either, but to each their own.

I'm late to the party, but wanted to say I never had heartburn with my first and my baby was born with thick long hair and actually had his first haircut at 5 months because hair was over his ears and starting to grow over his eyes. I got asked all the time by nurses or mothers how bad my heartburn was because of his hair. Turns out I just have a hairball for a son. He is 18 months and has already had 7 haircuts, and still no heartburn.

Not necessarily. I didn't leak at all in my first pregnancy. My babe latched immediately after delivery, and my milk came in within 2 days. I even dealt with a forceful letdown and over supply in the first 2 months because I was producing so much.

So my stupid question seems really dumb which is why I've held off on asking, but breast milk storage bags- are they universal? I'm a FTM and plan on BF, but when I've looked at these there are so many different brands I didn't know if it mattered if I got the brand specific to my pump, or if the store brand ones were fine...?
I didn't like pumping directly into the bags because I couldn't get an exact measurement on how much was in the bag. I pumped into the bottles supplied with my Medela pump and then poured it in a lanisoh bag for labeling and storage. I liked those best for freezing flat.

As a former crazy pumper I actually liked the Target brand bags best. I found them to be really thick and never had a problem with leaking. Like PP I pumped into the provided bottles, and would pour into the storage bags-the bottles give much more accurate oz. amount.

I actually stored them in our deep freeze using old gift bags with a hole cut out at the bottom, so I could just stack them in the bag and the oldest ones were always at the bottom. It worked wonderfully, froze the milk flat and was easy to toss new bags on top.
I can't get the link to work but this basically what I did.

Doesn't mean anything. I didn't leak at all with my first and I produced plenty of milk for him. I leak only a teeny tiny bit this time, but I think even that amount is because I got pregnant a mere two months after I quit pumping (so my boobs were primed and ready).

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but pre-pregnancy I had mild carpel tunnel in my wrist (meaning it would hurt once in a blue moon). Now during pregnancy it seems to flare up quite a bit. Has anyone else been dealing with this and/or found a remedy? I've been sleeping with a brace on and that seems to help a little, I also take Tylenol when it gets unbearable. Any advice would be lovely!

If it is really really bad talk to your doctor about the injections. When I was pregnant with my twins at about 30 weeks I had CT so bad in both my hands I could not even hold a pen, nothing helped and I was going to loose my job because I would have either had to use my maternity leave early and spend no time with my babies or quit because I couldn't type, write or even pick up the phone. Spoke to my doctor then about it, was referred to a specialist who at the consult did the injections and I was fine a few days later for the remainder of my pregnancy. I was able to work until a few days before I delivered and knock on wood I have not had a problem since (about 4 years ago). Beware someone should drive you home from injections and it hurts pushing the injection fluid but the outcome was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone! There is no way I would have been able to hold my girls right after delivery or get them into car seats/snap their outfits. Nothing. Was soo bad! If your at that point ask about them! Good luck. CT is awful!!

Will my nipples go back to normal after pregnancy? They have turned into these hideous bologna looking things that I don't recognize anymore. DH says they look just fine to him (of course, because he's a man). For some reason it bothers me a little. Please someone that isn't a FTM tell me these are not mine for the rest of my life!
Nothing really goes back to "normal."  It just finds it's new normal.  Don't be dissapointed but I don't know any woman who had a baby and went back completely to their prebaby self.  Anything that gets close to where it used to be is great.  Most things do get close to where your "normal" was though... ok, well some things.
