@Prpljade I gave up trying to keep my scrubs from falling down & bought suspenders, $12 well spent because I also use them with a few pairs of my "fat pants" that I'm still to small for.
Oops I have a stupid question as well.... If I don't have heartburn will my kid be bald? I know this is an old "wives tale" that heartburn=hair on your baby's head, but the more moms I talk to the more this tale is proving to be true. DH and I both have insane a amounts of hair on our heads so I will be shocked if LO doesn't have any hair, but hey, anything can happen.
Well, I had unbearable heartburn from 9 weeks until DS was born and he was bald until he was 9 months old. So I'm gonna go with there's no real correlation.

How many clothes per age do you STMs recommend having on hand? I received what I thought was a ton of clothes during my showers, but I just split them out by age and type (footed pjs, onesies, knit pants, button down shirts, etc.) and with the sizes ranging between newborn and 12-18 months, I have very little for each time period.
ETA: Trying to round out by spending less than $5/piece. Is that reasonable? We were able to get some basic onesies at Target for ~$1/each during their baby clearance, but I don't expect that to be the norm.
@Prpljade All of the full panel ones fall down on me, no matter how big my belly gets. I really like my gap Demi panel jeans. I got them on sale at Christmas and they are my go to pairs.
Is there a way to prevent nosebleeds?? I've never had one in my life, until I got pregnant. Now it's almost everyday! I've tried a humidifier, I'm drinking a ton of water. I live in Oklahoma, so the air is typically not very dry to begin with.
I feel like I need to invest in this. Or tampons.
Ayr gel. It's awesome and available in the drug store.
@redneckmomma25 My Aunt and Uncle had to take my cousin to a poop specialist last year because the issue was too complex for her pediatrician. She just turned six.
My aunt recommends his book, "The Ins and Outs of Poop." She said it had lots of helpful ideas.
Ridiculous question! I have one.. and it probably sounds so inconsequential... BUT!
STMs, to prevent face mauling, did you like stand alone mittens or the built in flippy mittencuffs? Do built in flippy mittencuffs even work?
I didn't use mittens. Flippy cuffs when the clothes were equipped but DD wasn't bad with face mauling.

I liked the built in's better personally. The other ones fell off a lot and got lost easily.
So my stupid question seems really dumb which is why I've held off on asking, but breast milk storage bags- are they universal? I'm a FTM and plan on BF, but when I've looked at these there are so many different brands I didn't know if it mattered if I got the brand specific to my pump, or if the store brand ones were fine...?

Oooh! I have another stupid question... obviously I am trying to figure out registry stuff. Does anyone know of a white noise machine that will continue throughout the night? My cat likes to meow loudly at random points, and I would rather her not wake the baby. Most of the white noise machines I have seen are on 1 hour or 2 hour timers just as the baby falls asleep, not throughout the night. Any suggestions?

That is actually one of the only old wives tale that has some scientific evidence to support it. However, I had zero heartburn, and my son was born with a lot of hair.

I didn't like pumping directly into the bags because I couldn't get an exact measurement on how much was in the bag. I pumped into the bottles supplied with my Medela pump and then poured it in a lanisoh bag for labeling and storage. I liked those best for freezing flat.

This is relevant to my interests. I'll come sit with you.
I have quite possibly the stupidest question of the feed...
I don't wear full seated underwear, I don't even think I own a pair; I assume it is not advisable to wear a thong after giving birth. Does anyone know how long I will have to go before returning to wearing thongs?
Speaking of breast milk storage, a good tip I learned about freezing milk: lay the bag flat in the freezer to freeze, then when it is frozen, transfer it to a shoe box to file it in the freezer. It saves space and I knew I was always grabbing the oldest out of the freezer when I grabbed from the front of the box.

you will be wearing pads for a couple weeks probably. depending on your periods as well, it will be a while before you can wear a tampon...I think it was close to 6 periods before I could wear a tampon again. They were really uncomfortable.

@GuacLove, I'm a FTM, but I know you're supposed to plan on 10-12 diaper changes per day.. I can't imagine a leak crisis with each change, but I used that number when rounding out how many of each kind of clothes I might need for him at the beginning. For essentials that I've bought.. About 12 onsies, 8 pants to put over those, and 12 sleep-n-plays (zippered footed one pieces). Trying to streamline as much as possible and not have complicated outfits or anything when I'm exhausted and frazzled. Even if we have poomageddon, I'll still be able to get through a few days without doing laundry.
Probably the blind leading the blind, but that's how I worked it out in my head!
Thank God for this thread because I have a ridiculous question for STMs. Has anyone found a correlation between how active the baby is in utero and their personality as a baby? Mine is an absolute nutcase, wiggling and kicking hardcore for most of the day. I'm already envisioning a difficult baby, a child with my ADD and anxiety problems.
I'm curious about this as well. My little one is awake and kicking the crap out of me all night long. I have problems falling asleep because of the kicking and after I do fall asleep , I get woken up again from the kicking.
@frownyface, you've made my night. That was the best visual. I'm going to make you teeny leashes for your mittens.. You know, to prevent rogue mittens.
I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but pre-pregnancy I had mild carpel tunnel in my wrist (meaning it would hurt once in a blue moon). Now during pregnancy it seems to flare up quite a bit. Has anyone else been dealing with this and/or found a remedy? I've been sleeping with a brace on and that seems to help a little, I also take Tylenol when it gets unbearable. Any advice would be lovely!
As a Kinesiology major, I recommend doing wrist exercises to help strengthen them. All you have to do it turn wrists in and out while they're at your sides. If you want to add weight you can just do the same motion with your forearms perpendicular to your body and supported by your knees while sitting down. You can use canned food, water bottles, etc to add weight. I hope this helps!
My old navy full panel jeans don't fall down, but my motherhood ones do.
Anyone recommend good maternity tights? I bought a cheap pair and even fully pulled up they were still sagging under my crotch and I put a hole in them trying to get them up higher. I really want to wear tights when I need to go to two weddings and my shower before April but I don't want to have the same problem.
Maternity pants. Are there any out there that don't fall down? Is it just my body shape that doesn't agree with them? I can't wear leggings for work, it's against safety policy and dress Code. I have a pair of Old navy and a pair of motherhood maternity that I wear but they constantly ride down and I end up with the band around my hips and the crotch halfway to my knees. They are so uncomfortable! I was looking forward to comfy maternity pants but now I wih I could go back to my normal pre-pregnancy jeans! Ideas? I've true adding a belly band on top to hold them up but that's not even working now. Am I destined to look saggy and frumpy and feel like my ass is hanging out until April??
Edit to add- pre pregnancy I always wore a belt. I had to or had this same problem usually with pants. Leads me to beleive my body shape is incompatible with pants.
I have a few pair from Motherhood Maternity and my first pair seems to have lost some elasticity in the full panel. I've been tucking it under my bra strap in the back and it seems to help. If only they made connectors at the side of your bra to hold them up!

I've been having the same issue, only I never had carpal tunnel pre-pregnancy. I actually ended up going to the doctor because I was honestly worried something was broken. Turns out it's severe tendonitis. I also have to sleep with a brace but the doctor recommended that if it doesn't get better, to look into cortisone injections. No real advice for you, but I can definitely sympathize!!

I'm way too lazy for this. I didn't freeze flat, and I didn't file them away nicely... I piled them in shoe boxes or large containers (a big mixing bowl or tupperware or whatever would fit nicely in the freezer) and just file vaguely by month. This is the April milk, this is the May milk, this is the June milk... it's not important to use it in exactly the right order, just to use it within 6 months, so as long as you know which ones were from "3 months-ish ago" etc you can make sure none of the milk gets old enough to go off.

I started freezing in May in preparation for going back to work in September so it helped me to be super organized. I was worried about accidentally wasting any milk.

I love love love the ASOS maternity tights. I wear them pretty much daily. They have the rubbery/sticky tops that help them stay up.
Definitely skip the Old Navy maternity tights, unless you like feeling like you have a full diaper dragging your tights to your knees. They're horrible.

@klingspwn Would switching the kiddos to decaf be a compromise at all? I am also on the "no coffee for kids" wagon, just trying to throw out some helpful suggestions!
NBR but I've heard that the best time to start using anti-aging products and wrinkle creams is in your mid-late 20's. Can anyone recommend a good place to start for prevention?
I have dress pants from kohls that stay up, and jeans from MM that do not. Both are full panel and I have a large enough rear end that's shouldn't be an issue. I often leave my house and just am glad to have clothes on. Some days I'm comfy and some days I'm not

My stupid q: our main baby shower will be a co-ed event. I don't want to do any gift opening, but I also know that some guests will be excited about people seeing the cute baby gifts they've picked out. I've mentioned to my mom that maybe we could ask people to wrap in clear paper/not gift wrap so the gifts can easily be put in display, without everyone having to watch me open things like breast pump accessories. My question is, does anyone have suggested invitation wording for asking this? Would you be annoyed if you were asked to do this? Or would you welcome the idea of a) not having to wrap and b) not having to watch the mom-to-be unwrap each gift?

I just had my shower and since it was in a place i don't live many people gave a card--which I read aloud--with a picture of the item they had bought and had shipped to my house. People got to ooh and aaah and a few people brought a little outfit too, that we opened, but it made it a lot easier and quicker!!
@specialsn0wflake I used Rodan and Fields Reverse regimen to fade acne scars and then moved to the anti-aging Redefine after. It's not cheap, but it really works. I don't use the sunscreen because neutrogena works and is much cheaper. I've seen Reverse do amazing things on pregnancy mask too, I'm planning on going back to it after the lovely "pregnancy glow" (aka acne).

I would be annoyed if I was attending your shower. It's not cool to tell people how to give you gifts.

Agreed. I would find being instructed how to wrap very off-putting.
