im 35 weeks and 3 days with my first baby (girl) and dilated 0-1 cm. my doctor said she could stick the tip of her finger in my cervix. I have been having contractions sometimes regular but a warm bath usually help calm them down. I also have a lot of pressure in my lower abdomen area and back pain and my legs and feet are really swollen. So what I want to know is if this could mean a early delivery?? I'm due February 9th (PLEASE NO RUDE COMMENTS) also my baby moves like nonstop and I can feel her pushing on my cervix which feels like some one is pinching my cervix really hard and hurts very badly.
Re: How fast did you dilate?

What's up with your no rude comments? We aren't rude around here. We just don't understand why the excitement some people have over having "early babies". I'm a FTM actually hoping to make it to my due date or slightly past.

I mean, I don't walk up to a bunch of people and start a conversation, then halfway through preemptively shout at them to not be rude to me.
I was geniunly interested in reading your topic and the replies, until you demanded we not be rude.
In my head, I'm sticking my tounge out at you.
That being said, every pregnancy is different. Knowing how quickly other women have dialated in a previous pregnancy will offer you no actual data on what will happen with your cervix.
B: You could be a fingertip dilated from now until you are 41 weeks. Your body will do its own thing on its own schedule. No two labors are the same.

You can be dilated weeks before you go into active labor. And it seems like this question has been asked 100 times this week.
In contrast, I stalled at 5 for 8 hours when I was in labor. Does this mean she might be just a fingertip FOREVER? ZOMG!

Because all the women I know or that have talked to me in my family had to all be induced in to labor and never dilated. And another thing I don't want my baby to be born yet I'd like her to stay in as long as possible!
The silly pictures are just that, silly. Two days ago you received an outpouring of support when you thought your water had broken.

Wow- if a message board gets you THAT riled up, you're about to be in for a rude awakening.
Since my previous pg has absolutely NO relation nor impact on your current gestation: I was dilated at 2cm/70-90% effaced for 2 weeks. I went 2-5cm in a few hours then 5-10 in 3 hrs. As a FTM, when my doc said I was 2cm, I ASKED HIM for further info given my medical/pg history. The guy was poking in my cervix so gonna make him earn that paycheck.
Yeah I guess I'm wondering why all these ladies didn't just ask their dr about dilation/effacement/progression of labor if they had questions when they were informed by their medical professional that they were one or two cm ... My dr wasn't even going to mention to me that I was 1 cm a week ago. I asked when the cervical check was over just bc i was curious. I know it doesn't actually mean anything.

If someone posts a repeat post all you have to say is "Here, this thread might help. Good luck!" And post the link.
Sometimes people in this group get very sensitive about reports. You can typically tell from the title if it's something you've read or not, if you've read it skip it...
I can't believe you're white knighting this bullshit...really?! :-@

I actually don't mind seeing occasionally repeated questions. And that isn't what the snark was about at all.
The snark came in when she suddenly shouted DON'T BE RUDE TO ME! In the middle of her post, before she received any responses.
If you need to demand that people not be rude, chances are you're asking a stupid question. In any case, this was a pretty tame post.
Hey now. ;;)
It usually takes (roughly) 40 weeks from conception to fully dilate.
Read a book.
@thedish0207 what's the green post it?
