I'm trying really hard not to give in and make today my last day of work. The teacher I work with and the director both said that since I'm so uncomfortable I don't have to come back next week...my husband agrees with them but I feel like if I don't push through and stick with this last week of commitments I'll regret it. I'm also worried about going stir crazy at home because my due date isn't until the 20th.
Also, I feel like a total bitch for being mad at my husband all day for telling me that I need to get more rest. He doesn't know I was mad at him, which is the part that makes me feel crazy. After I got to work this morning he messaged me and asked how I slept. I told him that it was about the same as the rest of the week. He asked me how how much that was and I told him about 4 to 5 hours. He then told me that he didn't like that and that rest is really important for me right now.... :-w Really? Like I didn't know that! I told him that getting rest was easier said then done. I was really proud of myself for not saying something sarcastic but the whole fact that he told me that rest was important put me in a bad mood.
Fast forward to when I got home and why I feel like a bitch. He filled up the bath tub with lavender oil, lit my favorite candles and set up the Iclarity radio for me. I'm currently bumping from the most amazing bath I've ever taken! He even got my silky Victoria secret robe out and told me to put it on after the bath and he will rub my feet and back when I get out. On top of that he made tacos for dinner! I've been craving tacos forever! :x
My dad today asked me if I'd had a pelvic exam when we were talking about doc appts today which I think he instantly regretted because he his hilariously squeamish about lady things. My sister and I used to randomly yell things about tampons when we wanted him to leave us alone. So I told him I was at 1 cm and he kinda grimaced and ran back to his work desk. It was pretty funny. And today I went to my parent's shop and borrowed their printer since we don't have one and got all the end of year tax stuff done and printed for DH and my businesses so I'm feeling pretty accomplished.
Aaaaaand I'm at L&D. Contractions are every 4-5 minutes but also concerned because she's not moving around as much. Maybe I get to have a baby today too?
Weeeeeeell... just got back from the doctors office and according to my ultrasound, the baby is measuring in at 9lbs15oz (we all know how inaccurate that could be though) so I am headed to the l&d triage to see if induction is possible or if a c-section is necessary. The doctor said I won't be leaving the hospital without my baby, so yeeey!! I will update when possible. = )
Medela just called me back, my breast pump is covered and ordered. Guest bedroom bed is cleaned off and sheets are washed for my mom to stay with me when we come home from the hospital. Black pjs, fluffy towel, and nursing tank are packed in my bag and baby's fleece, hat and blanket to come home in are in the wash to get ready to pack. Pack & Play will go up tomorrow and maybe the crib will transform back into a crib from a toddler bed. Things are finally getting ready for a baby around here!
Emma has already surpassed her birth weight at just 5 days old. The engorgement stage seems to have passed (THANK GOODNESS) and boobs are not as porn star-ish as they were. I no longer need pain meds after my c-section and everything is good.
Just to brag a little: I could not be more impressed with my DH. He has been taking care of me and Emma both doing everything he can to help.
My 4 year old just told me the baby is gonna come out of my mouth! )
DH was talking to DS last night, and he said, "The baby is going to come out of Mommy's [and I was thinking...oh...does 2 year old DS need all these details] 'special place'"
Special place? Ha ha. DS knows what a vagina is because he was very curious about why I don't have a penis, but I'm glad DH didn't get into the details of the whole birth thing.
Mergh. Still in "early" labour (only 2/3 cm). Need to be 4/5 before I'm admitted for good. Back and forth with check-ins and hanging out in the early labour waiting room. Next check-in is at 10pm. I really don't want to be sent home!
Anyone have the chicco key fit 30? It freaks me out when I buckle my son into the car seat and tighten the straps. I know you are suppose to only be able to fit one finger between the straps and his shoulder but where is your finger suppose to fit? Above his shoulder? In the front or on top? I feel like it's going to break his shoulder how the nurse had him buckled. I know it's super important to have him in there properly.
@papapalie - I've got that car seat, had one for DD1 and now a new one for this LO. They're great, although baby can get very warm very quickly in them (obviously more so in the summer), and that's my only complaint. As far as the shoulder straps, they are supposed to go right on top of the shoulder. I usually pull them to baby's neck, and then as I pull the strap down to tighten the whole thing, they fall into place. Make sure the buckle that goes across their chest is lined up with babys arm pits.
Welp, still at the hospital. The dr offered to do another sweep since my contractions were becoming more intense, but slowing down. And she was AGGRESSIVE!, but it seems to have worked - back under 5 minutes again.
= ( after some big mix up and not being able to get in touch with either my doctor or the on call doctor, I am back home with a c-section scheduled for Monday at 3pm. I can't lie, I'm a little bummed but being monitored was pretty cool, baby girls heart is nice and strong. It's been a long day so I'm going to attempt to get some sleep. I hope you all have a marvelous night!!
I think I've developed an allergy to alcohol! I had a glass of wine last week and my face broke out in a rash. I thought it was a fluke. Well, tonight I drank a Mikes hard Lemonade and the same rash broke out on my face, but I also started itching. This sucks so bad. I guess I should try hard liquor and see what happens. Lol.
Thanks @papapalie, happy 1 week birthday too! I was just hoping with all the contractions I had at home and all the contractions I've had here, it should've done something. Once I can get the pitocin and have my water broken we'll get somewhere!!

Can I join you on the hard liquor? Lol. I still haven't had my lemon drop post baby.
Oh yes, please! I would go for anything with Vodka right about now.
Edit to add: a Lemon Drop was my first shot after DD was born.
