@MusicFanatic I could run the vacuum anytime/anywhere and it didn't phase my daughter. I was told it was because I ran the vacuum daily while she was in the womb and the noise was soothing or she became used to it. Same thing this time around. We'll see if baby #2 reacts the same way
@mshepherd20 thanks for the reassurance! I really appreciate it. I'm trying to remember that this time will be over way too soon and to enjoy it as much as possible, but it's definitely hard sometimes.
They told me that baby boy would be in the nursery for two hours when they took him an hour after birth. That was almost 4 hours ago... I called the nursery about 30 mins ago and they said they would bring him in 15.... stressing me out :-S
This makes me so angry for you! Hope you've got your LO in your arms now, and if not, definitely send your SO down to the nursery to make a big stink and get him back. I delivered both of my boys at a hospital like that, and, though you won't make friends with the nurses, you should be aware that they're not allowed to take the baby without your consent. That is your child, and you do have the right to insist that he stay with you. Newborn screening and checks can almost always be done in your room, although that isn't as convenient for the staff.

I would believe that with us, except I wasn't vacuuming on bedrest in the hospital! haha
Interesting to know it's like white noise- I think it's loud and annoying :P But I'm happy it made her sleep!

I think babies just like white noise. Vacuum, hair dryer, radio static. The louder the more soothing it seems.

DS still has a white noise machine. Heck, even I do. I can't fall asleep without it! I plan to have one for this LO as well. Take what you can get for sleep
We do have a white noise machine in our room for her And use it! I guess I just think a vacuum is so much louder and annoying. But to a newborn, apparently it's not Now I'll have to vacuum every time she doesn't wanna sleep.

OB appointment this morning. Pelvic exam showed the stripping from last week worked - still 2cm, but almost 100% effaced. Dr said she wouldn't be surprised if this weekend led to a trip to L&D. Stripped again, now contractions are picking up. If she shows up today, that would be 9 days early. Much better than DS who was 10 days late...
have no advice for you ladies dealing with cluster feeders but I can empathize. My first was a cluster feeder and she would do so through the night. She never did that long stretch of sleep after the cluster feeding either. For us it seemed to lat forever. Like 6 weeks or so. Not to scare anyone but it was rough. It was always the worst when she was going through a growth spurt. I agree with a PP about the pacifier. DD was gaining weight just fine and did use me as a pacifier quite often. We nursed for 9 months till I was pregnant with my second so I can attest that it will pass! My second was sooooooo much easier when it came to nursing. Hoping for the same outcome this time!
My man just text me saying he is going to be put on medication for high cholesterol. For what feels like years he has been wanting to go to the doctor to figure out why he has been having heart palpitations. So im so glad he is finally getting somewhere. Even though he really doesn't look it, he put on weight in the last 2 to 3 years. So he is going to diet and exercise... said it shouldn't take him too long to lose the weight. Very happy for him.
He said that we are going to get bikes for the summer. Super excited.
@MusicFanatic, DS is 2, and he still loves the vacuum. It doesn't put him to sleep now, but he loves it. He has his own little dirt devil, and it's one of his favorite "toys." I hope he still enjoys cleaning when he's old enough to actually help.
It's funny when we run the vacuum at church because some kids love it, some don't care, and some are terrified by it.
Four people at work have asked me / said today, "Why are you still here?"
"Ummm, because my baby isn't due for 10 more days, and I plan to keep working until he is born."
I am getting anxious too, but the questions need to stop! Someone asked me yesterday if my cervix was dilated. Is this appropriate work breakroom conversation? Am I asking you for detailed measurements of your anatomy?

I would give anyone who asked me that an extremely sarcastic answer to shut them up! Like: "well the doctor told me at my last appointment I was about 7-8cm dilated...but I feel great and so far the baby hasn't fallen out!
So annoyed, its snowing and although the accumulation is not supposed to be high, it is really slippery out and I didn't bring lunch. And walking around providence while its snowing and slippery doesn't sound like the safest idea at 9 months pregnant, but neither does starving a 9 month pregnant woman...decisions decisions....
I just drank a coke so I could do some kick counts. I realized I hadn't felt baby girl move all morning. She moved enough for me to stop worrying though, but since I am almost 40 weeks, I think I should probably be doing daily kick counts from here on out.
Whew - I did not want to pay for another trip to L&D. Until I am in real labor that is, cause in that case, bring it on.
@maebb I think we might be living parallel lives. Yesterday at a business lunch a (male) client asked if I was looking out for my mucus plug. I was horrified.
Why would anyone think that asking that is appropriate???
It snowed like, 3-5 inches last night (near the water it varies), and DH owns a property maintenance/landscaping/snow removal company. He's down 2 guys (one from stealing money from us, one from injury), so he had to go out and work in the frozen tundra last night around midnight. He's still not home, and I've had the LO all to myself since about 8 last night on top of getting the 6 year old to school this morning with the baby in the cold.
I'm exhausted and really would enjoy a few uninterrupted hours of sleep. But no, off to the pediatrician we go! Although I'm happy to take her, she's got some breathing issue going on. Sounds stuffy and congested and it seems to be getting worse, though no fever and still has an appetite. We shall see.
39 weeks and 3 days today. So ready for this little boy to be evicted! Lost my MP last night (doesn't mean much I know) soya be sooner than later now?! Have my 39 week appointment today at 4:00 so we shall see what she has to say. Any day now

My boss came into my office this morning after I told him "things might be starting so I'll keep you posted" and said "things get going once you lose your MP right?!".......Cue major awkwardness. I decided to keep the awkward going and said "I lost it this morning!" (I'm 40 weeks hence why he thought things would get going if I lost it)

That's a far better response than mine. I said that I was impressed he knew what that was considering his kids were in their early 20s!
I think my boss's oldest kid is 12? Youngest is like 5 and he's got 4. A few weeks ago we got into the discussion of breastfeeding. I felt like I was having the discussion topless.
All those contractions all night and no changes to my cervix since last week, but my blood pressure is high. So I'm in l&d getting blood work and having my bp monitored. If my bp comes down and labs are good then they'll send me home. If not then it'll be baby time! At least the roads are passable today. I'm not as paranoid about not having anyone to watch my older kids. My sister's ready to come out if she needs to
Our neighbor is the best neighbor in the world. He shoveled our whole driveway while DH is at work. He grows and gives us half his amazing garden in the summer. He helps us with anything electrical in the house (he is an electrician). If only he wasn't so damn racist!
Pediatrician visit went well. Lungs are clear, no breathing issues. Also, little piglet gained 9 ounces in 7 days!!! Heading home to hopefully get some damn sleep!!
@Firefly3911 Maybe Google LC support group in your area. Or just LC in your area.
We've got a few groups here where other nursing mom's get together with a LC and discuss issues, and success stories. It's a good way to make friends too with babies all in the same age range.
He may very well be going through a growth spurt too, which they will feed almost around the clock and demand me milk from you.
I know it's tough, been there, done that, 3 times so far. It does get easier. It does mellow out. Newborns are so demanding!
I was planning on having my tubes tied at the same time as my c-section, but my Dr said that the hospital where I am delivering won't allow it, so now DH have to come up with an alternative.
Does anyone else's baby get milk coming out of the nose sometimes? Is that normal? And is holding the milk inside the mouth sometimes normal too?
@VioletGjoni Yep, milk coming out of their nose is normal. I asked my pediatrician the last time around and she said that it is because they spit up so forcefully at times. Very scary but normal.
Also, did you meet with a lactation consultant today? For some reason I was thinking it was you but I could be wrong...

My mom texted me today asking if there was any baby news. I really wanted to text back and say "yes we had the baby a week ago." This is not our first kid....we have told her with the other two when we went to the hospital. I don't know why she wouldn't think we would tell her this time. Plus it could still be another few weeks if baby goes late. I think it irritates me more since we are at the end and pregnancy hormones are in over drive.

Okay, good! He spit up a little so it makes sense! And yes it was me, thanks for asking! I saw her but she really wasn't that helpful. she was similar to the one I met at the hospital when I have birth that was just okay, repeated things I already knew. Maybe I just need to get another one? People swear by LC's so I'm kind of disappointed that she wasn't that great.
That stinks that she wasn't helpful. Was she through a company? I ended up going through a hospital in our area and spent the ridiculous $65 an hour to meet with one and she helped me find a different latch to use until my cracked nipples heal. She looked at the one and said "wow, those are like crater cracks. In fact, they're like the Grand Canyon!" Yes lady, I know!! She prescribed some great cream to help with the healing too. So over all I was glad I ended up going.

I'm not sure why my picture changed! It's the picture I added to HDBD but I never changed it on my account setting and I can't figure out how to change it back...darn mobile!

I went to bed just after 11 last night and I had to force myself out of bed at 9:40. I have no idea why I'm so tired. I also had a dream last night that my water broke. I'm 39 weeks today so, hopefully, baby will be here soon.
I finished painting a cabinet for the nursery and it looks really cute. All the nursery needs now is a baby to go in it.

I was going to page her with some clever gifs, but this baby was all like "hey, mom, I need stuff.."
