@hmp1, have you seen the Pinterest board "My Imaginary Well-Dressed Toddler Daughter"? It started because the woman had only sons and was in love with girl clothes, but morphed into satire. It's great.
Yes, I follow her on IG too. I also have a secret girl Pin board "Mary Alice Francesca". A girl can dream!
My goodwill is disgusting. It is zero fun for me to go pick through that shit. I can hardly even handle Kohls clearance. I like to go to target, throw the shit in the cart, and move on.
ETA: Ok, the swaddle pic is adorable. I will do that for newborn. So I'm only looking for something for homegirl Winnie, and maybe a 3 mo and 2T cute set.
For newborn pictures or later? Our newborn session was a disaster (with James) and I lucked out with 1 picture of the two of them, lol. But I like simple simple for newborn pictures. Swaddle for the baby and solid dress or bubble for the 2 year old. James wore a solid v-neck tee and light soft jeans.
I want to take newborn pics, then pics when the weather is nicer and we can do something outside - 3 mos/May ish. I have no clue if I'll do them myself or if I'll hire them done, but either way, that's what I want.
This is basically what we did, our nb pics were the worst pictures ever, the hospital photog took better shots! However our family pictures in October were gorgeous, I'm so glad that DD2's little 3month old personality was captured!

Wow--apparently Christmas break was the time for students to go wacky.
One of our students, thankfully not mine for once, was arrested for stealing a car and evading arrest. She's in her 40s. Weird overall. Comes in here wearing wigs and asking questions about her ex husband who was a student here for awhile. Just bizarre. The Cabela's by my work has like 61 roundabouts to get into it, and there was a ridiculously unimpressive small police chase through it. We're all just dying over here laughing about it because this student has been so nutty in the past.
If you get arrested wearing a wig, do they make you take it off for a mug shot? Do they even do mug shots IRL, or is that just a movie/tv thing?
Just so everyone knows GAP is having a 40% of sale even on clearance. Code: FUN.
I got B a few things for next fall/winter from there for $35.
I am so cheap, Gap clearance with extra percent off is even too rich for my blood. I guess since I find so much at the Goodwill for around $1 it'shard for me to cough it up. I need some new jeans since I ripped a hole in my favorite pair at the monster jam, but they are full price. I got mine on super duper clearance. Mannn!
Same here. I may splurge for picture outfits or something but not much else.
I don't have any options around here for B unless it's Shopko or JCP. I like to get things at Once Upon a Child when we go to GB but it's a 2 hour drive. Our Goodwill never has anything cute, ever.
I rarely find cute stuff for E at Goodwill--though I find plenty of stuff for me. I'm a cashmere sweater whore and usually can snag them there. But the kids' stuff? I can get new stuff on sale at GAP or Old Navy or full-price at Target for a couple bucks more...why would I buy faded, stained stuff at that price?
That's the thing - most of the stuff I buy is still almost new! Even down to matching pajamas. Also, I need stuff to send him to school in, so I don't mind it having a little wear. You can't beat paying less than $1 for that stuff. I do buy ON for him though because it's the best deal I can find that suits our style. I feel like I am kind of picky. I just hope I don't have a girl one day... so much cute!
and @redneckmomma25 re: Goodwill buys...Most of ours isn't. I think people consign their decent stuff around here and send the crap to Goodwill and other thrift stores. And they still charge in the range of $3-$5 for most stuff...and I can get $5 shirts at Gap on clearance. It's frustrating. I'd like to buy used but eff. Consignment stores have even higher prices.
This is the problem I have with our kids' consignment store. It's great to unload stuff we no longer want. But the prices to buy are comparable to the sale rack at Crazy 8 or ON, so I'd rather buy new in that case.

They do them IRL if you go to jail. I used to get copies of them when I covered crime for the paper.

Oh the roundabout. That WI crap has migrated into Michigan. I die laughing everytime there's like 3 in a row. So strange.
How do you get to witness the most bizarre crap all the time? That's it I'm coming to work with you for 1 day and shitty cookies better make an appearance.
So I bought this for B for Valentine's Day. @marisakathleen is this ok? Now I'm nervous I put my kid in something inappropriate.
I think this is ok. It's when it says "Mommy's Love Machine" that it becomes weird to me.
Yup, it gets weird to me when it's a Mommy's Little. Cal got a "Mommy's little stud" shirt, and I thought that was weird too. I mean, I get it. He's a baby. But I find it weird to attach phrases like "little stud" to a baby. IDK why it bothers me. You don't see girl onesies with "Daddy's Little Hottie" on it or something equally creepy.
It bothers the crap out of me when little girls wear diva onesies though, so I guess that's a more realistic equivalent.
My friends and I got pulled over once for going around the roundabout too many times. There weren't any other cars and we left the roundabout as soon as there was one. The cop thought we had been drinking, when in reality we were just stupid college kids.

Can I just vent for a minute about people who have a seeming inability to get themselves organized? I volunteer with a local philanthropic group that falls under the umbrella of the United Way. As all funding gets channeled through UW, I often need to communicate with their people to get approval on projects/sync things up. In early December, I reached out to two people there with some specific administrative questions. I waited two weeks for a reply, and that was only after I emailed a second time. Along with the delayed reply came a request for an in-person meeting in January. I said fine, offered a few dates/times I was free and asked the other person to lmk what worked with his calendar. The idiot never got back to me. I just forwarded my last email to him, from 12/19, asking if he still felt the need to meet. One of my biggest pet peeves is this hurry up and wait BS. If it's so important I meet with you, respond to my messages d-bag. I'm busy too.
@willy_gert The receipt from buying the carseat? Ha! I don't have that! If I got a super good deal on it, I would probably act like I didn't have it until they decided to give me less for it, then I'd magically find it.
I missed this, but I agree on good luck getting me to produce a receipt for something I purchased 2 years ago. I would find the seat on the site with the MSRP and send them that. They don't need to know that you used miles or coupons or traded sex or it was a gift. You just need to replace it.
Mean vent: One of my friends is pregnant after trying for over a year. She's very excited, we're very excited, yay, great. Except she feels the need to overshare every tiny detail on Facebook, and currently the only details to share are the daily degrees of her morning sickness and whether or not she can discern what she ate last night based on her vomit. FFS. Limits, people.
I need to get on nb props soon. I think I want knit/crochet suspenders ( im not going to make them) maybe a little hat to go with. But then I need matching stuff for G.

You can do a little Easter set up for a couple. Jed in a basket and Grace in her Easter dress and, if she is like my kids that need bribing for pictures, Jelly Beans. Super cute if he fits in her basket so it's like she got a brother for Easter.

I am so tired today that I thought this said "knit crotch suspenders" and I had some serious concerns about what kind of craft goods you're into and what they have to do with nb props for a second there.

"A brother for Easter? That bunny's getting a strongly worded letter--I wanted chocolate and Peeps."

LOL this killed me!
Y'all I just found out one of my best friends is moving to Dallas and I am SO jealous and so excited for them! And sad that it will be that much harder to get to see them!

I soak my underwear on the daily, and it's the middle of winter. Can you tell me how to phrase that for a FB post? kthx
