FTM question: will it get to a point where I have trouble wiping after I pee? My belly is getting in the way and my arms are not growing any longer. I'm a little worried. :-?
DH laid the carpet in the nursery! Now I can start building a crib and get my glider in there... still need to get some things for the walls, the dresser and my valance/glider seats from DH's aunt but YAY! I have a place to start!

I almost always get a little pee on my finger because I misjudge where I should be wiping. I've never had a problem with the other end because I can't see there anyway.

I moved my belly out of the way a lot at 40wks. Could you approach from behind (still wiping front to back)? If not, plastic spoon + Velcro.

I actually tried to wipe after #1 from the back this afternoon but it was weird
I just need to be an AW today: I'm finally recovered from my bout of stomach flu! I'm well enough to go up and downstairs today and my appetite has returned. I hope everyone else who was also sick this week is on the mend too!
FB friend from grad school & FTM posted a link to a study about risks of alcohol & pg adding:
"I have to say, since being pregnant, I can't tell you how many people (physicians included) have tried to tell me that "a glass of wine" won't hurt. So sad that people would take such a stupid risk. It's not safe at all people and its a risk that can be easily avoided by thinking of your child rather than yourself."
Another agreed adding:"I've always thought, if you can't get through 9 months without a drink, perhaps parenting isn't something you should tackle."
I've typed several replies w/links to other studies (larger sample size, etc) that actually found mild-mod drinking moms have children w/better social and mental health outcomes at 5 and 7 yr follow-ups and asking why we don't see increases of FAS in countries where this isn't taboo. However, I don't have the energy to post & keep up with a discussion so I didn't reply to her.
I'm sitting here drinking my Dr. Pepper and smugly waiting for her parenting reality to kick in when her kiddos arrive.

That's one of the facebook wars.. that i just sit and read with popcorn.
(and just to add -- i'm not a drinker so it isnt a thing for me, but even at my hospital tour they said talk to you doc and see what is right for you... and your mental health)
That's it. Not linked to the actual study- just a minute blurb on a blog. Grrrr- my friend has her PhD which is why this annoys me more. Show me the data! I want n, p values, CI!
Kudos to anyone who totally abstains from alcohol. No issue w/that. I had one glass of white wine at 30wks (anniversary) and 38wks (getting highly anxious) with DS. I've been more liberal this time after 20wks.
I'm in the camp that mild-mod is ok for the majority after 1st tri, but recognize it's easier for the official stance to be "avoid" as idiots will take it as free reign to do pregnant keg stands. FAS in these studies is seen in moms drinking 5+drinks/day. IMO- that's a lot for non-pg.
@holachicaaa happy birthday girl! I was so disappointed after a bit of snow this morning and -15 temps we did not get a snow day so I hope you had a fabulous day with yours!
@wirtlehm I completely understand how you are feeling about work. Our lives are completely changing in a very short time and with the emotions of third trimester in general it is so hard to feel up for work. I'm dealing with this new stage of life and what to expect and so many other emotions that teaching right now is a struggle emotionally and physically.
So an old co-worker of mine who shares the 10+ years infertility struggle with me, just texted me. A PICTURE OF HER BFP!!!! I am soooooooooooooooooo insanely happy for her. We struggled together for so long. When she found out I was PG she was so happy for us, but I know it hurt her a bit. I told her that we will be PG together, just watch.
WELP! I may not have much time left in this PG but we are pregnant together!! I couldn't be happier for her. Seriously made my day, my week, my month!!! I just had to share.

I always give DH a hard time about, had his mom not drank AND SMOKED! while pregnant with him (hence "hindering his height" I jokingly claim - he maxed out at only 5'11"), he probably could have made it in the NBA...... since he's a freaking amazing athlete (especially bball), just too short to be a pro. So instead he's a CPA..... who never gets sick and has great teeth and always gets a clean bill of health at the Dr. So, so much for being "not safe at all".
@wirtlehm I'm right there with you. I'm a teacher and subconsciously I mentally checked out of worked during our two week winter break. I realized it yesterday when every little thing the students (and some dumb colleagues) did pissed me off. I'm just uncomfortable and whiny teenagers who don't understand that they must work to get a good grade is the last thing I want to deal with at this point. My filter has been completely turned off, and I've been super blunt with some of them when they while.
Today's spam: Exams start tomorrow and luckily our testing coordinators were super nice and left me off the schedule. I don't think I could have given state tests for 3-4 hours. Physically I'm spent. The bad news is we will probably have a delay tomorrow because it is going to be so cold, and NC peeps don't know how to deal with cold. If a delay happens, it will send our testing schedule into a complete shitstorm! Oh well, not my monkey, not my circus.
@holachicaaa Happy Birthday! I am jealous you got a snow day. We didn't today, but Milwaukee Public Schools just closed for tomorrow and generally the rest of the districts follow them...so FX!
@stefanie_cbc When DS was little we would go to a friend's house to eat dinner and watch Game of Thrones the Monday after it aired (they get HBO, we don't). I was still BF, so DS would always want to eat during our time there. And then a little later he would let out the loudest, messiest sounding poops. Always during quiet, serious parts of the episodes. I would do my best to not crack up but failed a few times.
My Spam: Today it was too cold to take DS outside to play (windchill making it feel about 10 degrees...pretty cold for VA). So he helped me make zucchini bread and muffins. The muffins turned out great, but the bread is a bit undercooked in the middle (super moist, not runny/gooey). I searched online and got a few suggestions to slice it and then put the slices in the toaster oven to crisp up before eating. Do any of you ladies have other suggestions?
just getting to spam today. 36 week apt this morning was good, except for the surprise internal exam. Which I guess I should have expected, but they didn't tell me last time I'd be getting it. Lets just say downstairs was not prepared. Oh well.
Met our pediatrician this afternoon also, and have a plan and a back up plan for the bris. I'm starting to feel way more ready and prepared...lots less to do on the to do before baby list.
DH is putting together our new bed right now. I've never had an actual bed before, my family has always just done a mattress on a box spring on a metal frame. We couldn't get our box spring upstairs, so decided to get a platform type bed we don't need one for. I should go help him, but it seems like alot of effort
ugh, i went and helped DH for an hour. He is on step 15 of like 40 (damn you ikea....) and its 9:40. No way this bed is getting done by tonight, and he packed up the metal frame and stuff to make space. He is totally going to get cranky when I make him stop in an hour and he isn't done yet but I want to go to sleep. now i'm cranky thinking about his future cranky.
Happy birthday @holachicaaa ! Hope it was a great snow day-birthday! @wirtlehm sorry you have no motivation to be at work today (or any day, these days). I feel ya. @schnitz9 yay for getting your stroller! Sounds fancy! Hope it's exactly as you hoped! @nbad311 and @Angeldcf I have been saying this for a week now. DH is highly entertained by the whole thing. @PikoPiko glad you're feeling better!
Nothing interesting from me today. I'm just over pregnancy at this point. I'm ready to have my own body back. I'm way uncomfortable.
80 degree weather... No motivation today. Can't wait for it to cool down over the weekend.
DS seems to have caught the sniffles. So between caring for him, and the baby kicking my ribs, I was up every hour or 2 last night. Praying we don't have a repeat tonight. 8-}
