Any moms ever drink wine in the third trimester? I've read articles on both sides that it's okay and some still advise against it. My mom jokes that it's a miracle anyone survived in the past because many moms drank, smoked, ate deli meat, and drank coffee and all their kids turned out just fine! I've read that a small glass every now and then won't hurt. Judgement free zone here- keep extreme and rude opinions out please! I'm just curious about personal experiences anyone has had. Thanks!

Moderation. It's not that hard of a concept, and it governs all of pregnancy. Moderate excersize, moderate diet, moderate temperatures, moderate every-fucking-thing you do.
I read an article that examined birth defects from hard street drugs vs 'acceptable' addictive substances like heavy use of cigarettes and alcohol, and I was shocked to find out that the street drugs came out even or less harmful. Especially opiates. Weirded me the hell out.
I drink coffee though and eat deli meat, and have had sushi a couple times.

I have read, heard from several OBs, and was taught in NP school that of any substance in pregnancy, marijuana may be the safest! Of course I'd never advise a pregnant woman to use it & more study is absolutely needed, especially as it becomes legalized. But if you take an objective look at existing evidence, it seems that it's far less harmful to a fetus than legal substances like cigarettes and alcohol.

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!
I've enjoyed small glasses of wine or beer throughout my second and third trimester. Not daily, but maybe once of twice a week at dinner. I don't have the same taste for wine that I used to so it's easy to stop with just a small glass. It was especially enjoyable over the holidays. I am now starting to stress about ordering anything when I'm in a restaurant because I wouldn't want to make a waiter uncomfortable.
