The tl;dr version of this is that I think DS2 (7 mos) stopped breathing in his sleep tonight, and I don't know if I should call his pedi or not, or what they could even do.
So I have the angel care monitor that we used with DS1 and we are using with DS2 now. We got maybe 2-3 false alarms in almost two years of using it with DS1, so I trust it pretty well. I always check on both boys before I go to bed. When I checked on DS2 around 10:30, he was laying on his belly kind of toward the top left of the crib. I left him laying that way b/c he can roll both ways, and every time I put him down on his back he immediately rolls over. We have nothing in the crib whatsoever other than him and the mattress.
Fast forward to about 2:15 and the alarm on the monitor goes off. It woke DH and I from our sleep and we ran into his room. In that matter of time, it stopped going off. When we get in there, he is laying in literally the exact same position he was when I checked on him 4ish hours earlier, he hadn't moved one bit.
I don't feel like this was a false alarm and I truly believe he stopped breathing. I actually woke him up, changed him and got him a bottle b/c I thought it might help me feel better that he was okay. He is acting completely normal and he is actually back in his crib as I type but I am awake and still worried sick.
What do I do? Do I call the pedi and tell them about this? How do I even get through tonight? I have never experienced this before and I don't have a clue what to do.
I can't imagine how scary this is for you. I am one who always proceeds with caution. It never hurts to call the pedi about anything to get advice and help you through these times.

I'm sure it was just a false alarm but it doesn't hurt to call. Babies can pause their breathing for up to 10 seconds. It's totally normal but I'm sure you were scared! (((Hugs)))

Aww, hugs. Tate is such a deep sleeper and doesn't move for long periods, so I understand how that makes you nervous. He has never alarmed me with breathing issues. The Pediatrition is there for your questions and concerns. I would always ask to ease your mind.

Hugs! That is so scary. Even if there is a big chance that it was a false alarm, it can't hurt to mention it to the paediatrician.
Does he have reflux? I just ask because DD had it really bad and it caused her to stop breathing a couple of times. It was so scary but she hasn't done it in quite a while.
How scary! I actually stopped using our angelcare bc it constantly gave false alarms. Does LO typically move a lot during the night? Either way, I would call just for reassurance.

He doesn't move much at all unless he is awake and trying to wake us up, which he definitely wasn't doing. That's why it scared me so much, he was still asleep even through the alarm going off.
How scary! I would definitely call the pedi, just to be on the safe side.

So scary! Do you have the mat type or the one that clips to his diaper? The way he was laying could have caused it to think he wasn't breathing? I had the angel care monitor that clipped onto the diaper that a friend handed down to me. It went off when the battery was getting low and even after I changed it, it was never the same and went off constatntly. Hopefully it was just a false alarm!
