While we are all on the topic of movement... I have a question for STMs or even FTMs if they know? What exactly will the "movement" feel like the first time you feel it? I know I haven't felt anything but I'm curious to know what exactly to expect? People have said it will feel like bubbles, etc. But if that's the case... How do you know for sure its not gas? What makes the difference?
IMO it felt like a balloon popping. Like a sudden release of a tiny bit of pressure if that make sense.
I didn't feel DS1 until 21w, twins until 18w, last until 15w (only once and consistently at 16w) and still haven't felt this one yet.
Honestly, who is your OB to say that someone hasn't felt a baby move at _____ weeks. Sure she's seen a lot of pregnant women and may have children of her own, but unless she's the one feeling/not feeling anything she can't say for sure.

@beattykid did they tell you if you might have an anterior placenta? I do, and my OB told me I not feel movement until a bit later than usual (because its an extra layer between teeny tiny limbs and my abdominal muscles (where the nerves are that pick up the kicks). I'm glad she told me so I won't be worrying if I'm not feeling anything for a while yet. She also said the chances of feeling anything, regardless, were very very slim before 16 weeks, and to just focus on the strong heartbeat and lack of pain or bleeding to reassure me during normal irrational mom fears
They haven't said anything about that and I've had two ultrasounds already (most recently on 12/1) so wouldn't they say so? Sorry I'm so late getting back to you, I've been out of pocket for a few days and most of this month to be honest. I have another ultrasound on the 30th and an appt in the morning with my OB so if I'll ask about it then.
I'm 16w4d and I think I started feeling the baby move on Sunday. It felt like little muscle twitches on the left side of my stomach and happened a few times throughout the day. Then yesterday evening I was reclining on the couch when I had what felt like something very tiny kicking me from inside. That happened 4 or 5 times, about 30 seconds apart each time, and I could see and feel it happening from the outside so I'm pretty confident it was the baby. Before all this I thought I felt a few little squirms but I wasn't sure if it was just wistful thinking.

I can't speak to your experience, but do you know when I found out I had an anterior placenta with my son? Last month. I had him in October 2011 and no one told me during my pregnancy I had an anterior placenta. I found out because they moved our health records online, and after my appointment in November I was checking for updates about a thyroid issue and nostaglically glanced over at my old pregnancy records and saw the notation about anterior placenta.

I had to ask what that little note "Anterior" beside my ultrasound photo meant. Some doctors just don't bother telling you anything. My GP had my blood tests results and didn't bother telling me my vitamin D level was low. I found out 3 weeks later when I met my MW's. Very annoying.
@beattykid Yeah like PP mentioned, since it isn't really a big deal they may have just not mentioned it. I only know because I had a slight bleed and they explained ALL THE THINGS. Worth asking!
Firat thing my doctor said to me today was you won't feel any thing until 20 weeks. She said you might feel things at 19 but you won't really feel any thing till 20. Going to try my Dr but heard a nice strong heart beat so that's all that matters!!
@Trampslikeus@Blu-eyedwife I had my last ultrasound on Tuesday and you were right! I do have an anterior placenta! I'm so glad you asked me because I wouldn't have known to ask otherwise and I don't think they were going to mention it. Knowing this has made me rest so much easier. Thank you.
I felt my first movement sitting on the ultrasound table waiting for a follow up to see if some issues spotted in the NT scan had resolved. I was only 14w, 5d but I'm sure it was baby movement as it felt exactly the same as my first son's movement. It's definitely not like gas so I don't know why people say that, maybe it could be described as bubbles and popping. I assume it was just because I was sitting really quietly on that semi upright table and the baby was in the right place or perhaps my little guy was telling me to chill out. When the doc came in he put the ultrasound right where I was feeling it and found an active baby sitting really high. I haven't felt any movement since and I am now 17w, 6d.
