If you can't find anything in stores, you might get lucky at a consignment or thrift store.  I've noticed they don't seem to go with seasons at most of the ones near me.

I really hate how stores are so tied to seasonal stuff--and then are ahead of each season. I had a hell of a time finding boots for DD after she outgrew the pair I got her in the fall because everything is moving toward spring now (and because I was picky...stuff I liked was out of stock).  It's mildly annoying for adults but for kids it really makes no sense.

Baby shorts are so weird, I would skip those anyways. Some light weight roll up pants (like these Gap pants) and some tops and you are good to go.
    Pull-on roll-up cargo pants

Or ON has cute thin leggings right now.

They actually had some like the first ones at Target. B's been using them since summer rolled and now obviously like pants. They have been perfect!

  • I'm still on break this week, so Lily and I have been keeping busy. Yesterday we went to the mall for shopping and lunch. Today we met up with my friend and her kids for toddler time at a community center. We were the only ones there! I was surprised, but it is super cold here, so maybe people didn't want to go out?

@amandad715‌ Did the person you invited say she planned to come? Or did she seem uncomfortable with the idea?

  • So my phone always logs me out of TB, and it takes 3 minutes to log in and navigate back, because if I log in and go to my bookmark it still shows I'm not logged in GRRRRR

I'll have to go back and read this thread because I had comments to make and I couldn't from my phone!

W just went down for a nap in about 60 seconds in the crib.

She went down super fast last night and slept until 9am.... NINE DUDES!!!!  I'd say @hyaline was right that she just wasn't ready for the big bed, and I can also say that her problem seems to be 98% the bed and 2% the naps. - knock on wood.

So now the question is..... with 4-6 weeks until baby arrives, when do I buy a second crib?  It's $200 I don't really want to spend.

  • I'm starting a new thread about daycare so I don't clutter this one up.  I had a really bad day visiting centers :(  I either live in the ghetto or by chance picked the wrong 5 to visit.

Good point--how soon do you intend to use a crib, anyway?  Depending on your plans, you might buy yourself a few months, and a lot can change in a few months.

FWIW I bought our crib for $100--if you're willing to be less than picky, IKEA and other places have cribs for under $100.  Not that I'm saying you have to go that route, but if there's a "magic number" cost where you'd buy a second crib, it might be doable.

  • I'm willing to be totally unpicky about a crib.  The cheapest I found on Target.com was $199.  We don't have an ikea anywhere around here.  Hmm.

I do have a PNP with bassinet and I have a rock n play that W slept in as in infant for waaaay too long (at least a couple months, maybe 3ish?).....

I am having some mental thing where the room needs a crib.  I need to get the F over it.  I think I'm in a deep depression lately and can't shake it.

@MRoxy0628‌ She sounded excited, and we exchanged numbers, which totally makes me feel worse.  Even my other friend who knows her was like, what do WE talk to her about, let alone complete strangers?

I had a dream last night that I got the flu and the first thing I thought of when I woke up was "Oh good, I can now tell ex-BFF that I'm sick and that we're not going to the party." Sad because my 1st thought was trying to get out of the mess I made and that I did not think about me being pregnant with the flu as my first thought.

James had a Walmart crib. I loved it. I actually still have it in the closet if you want it. But you can get a crib at Walmart for around $100 too. With the mattress you will be back to around $200 though.

I wanted B's room completely done well as much as it could be before he was born, since team green and all. We didn't need anything in there except for a changing table really. He slept in a RNP for 3 months like W and then went to a crib. I'd wait on the crib. Most of the time in the spring all the big box stores have baby sales or you could find one second hand or W might be ready to transition.

  • Lol at way too long in the RnP. I think LO slept in his for like 5 months.
I remember my mom came over and said she was so big she looked like DH trying to sleep in the thing.  The RNP was pretty great  - it kind of hugged her sides and made her feel more secure, and for me it eased my fear of her choking on her reflux goo because it had the tilt.

I remember there being some mold/mildew issue.  SIL borrowed mine, so I'll have to wash it and check for mold.  Was it just from people snapping the liner on before it dried?

I am the odd man out here. I don't think it is weird at all. I have crashed or had people crash NYE parties every year. Just tell the host, apologize, and offer to make/bring something extra to make up for it. Really, you should not be losing sleep over this.

Plus, she is an adult with a child. What else do you talk about with other strangers that have kids...your kids. Seriously, she shouldn't have any conversational problems.

Not sure if any replies to this yet, didn't read. :P

Yes, buy another crib. You don't want your older one to feel like you're pushing them out, because of the brand new special baby. Know what I mean?

Plus it's no fun to try to bed-train a kid while 9 months pregnant and/or with a newborn.

  • One day late, but I'm here. H and I didn't buy anything for each other for Christmas and then he surprised me with a birthstone necklace that incorporates both kids stones. It's pretty. I found a pair of ugg slippers on nordys that were on sale for like $50 so I bought for myself justifying that I didn't get anything for Xmas. That was before the necklace. Doh.

We are currently watching George and I'm a little sad thinking maternity leave is over for me in just a few days.

Wow, that maternity leave seemed quick. I'm sad that your IG may not be as active once you go back  :(

I know. I'm struggling now to take enough pics of both kids. It's so much harder when you have more than one!
