  • I went to the osteopath this morning, and he said I was a "hot mess" between my pelvis and my hips and my neck and back.

Now I'm getting my hair highlighted. It's been too long and I have an unintentional ombré going on here.

Oh and I have a gross fftc. I cleaned my room for the first time since Cameron was born. X_X It always ends up being the last on the list and it's where we put things when company comes over. I can't even tell you how much better I feel now that it's done.

Ours always falls to last too. It gets pretty bad.
  • I can't wait to get my house back to normal and the trees down however that won't be happening until after the 1st of the year. Our large tree is too big for me to handle so DH has to be home. Should be fun.

I got my period today and even though we only started trying this month I had dreams of having another September baby. I think I need to start temping and using OPK's. Who has insight to the OPK's?

This morning while in the kitchen I heard water running. I thought B was in the spare bathroom running water over my hair straightener that was in the sink cooling but he wasn't. He was in the living room pouring his entire sippy of water on the floor. Ugh kid.

@beebopandbuddy "mini tyrant" that's hilarious. Can you coax her out by bringing her to her favorite lunch spot? I always coax B with popcorn from Target. Best $1.80 from there I spend.

  • DD woke up screaming at 11 p.m. for no apparent reason.  DH has a mancold and since I didn't want to hear all about how not sleeping made it worse, I sent him to the guest room and brought her back to bed with me.  An hour later she finally passed out again...and woke up for the day at 4:30.  I have no clue what the problem was, but today is going to be rough.

  • I'm here. I'm tired. I'm worrying about this pregnancy for no good reason. Blah. And it's only Tuesday. My 9 day vacation ended Sunday and work is not as fun as sitting on my couch watching bubble guppies....

I told her we could go to lunch. "No, I just want to stay here."
  • I'm here for a moment before the rest of the house wakes up... I have a rare day off, so we're planning to go to the movies later (probably Annie- I'm hoping the songs keep Cruz entertained) and then I want to de-Christmas the house.

  • I ran into my former BFF, her son and her parents at the children's museum yesterday. Haven't seen her in years(she has lived in England and New Zealand & is now in Arizona) , we were BFFs from 7th grade through jr/sr year of college when we had less common interests, and she never returned to our hometown much. Her parents still live here, I run into them occasionally, and there are no hard feelings over a friendship that just grew apart.

Anyways, we kept bumping into each other throughout the center activities and had some time to catch up while the kiddos played. We were headed out, and while I was getting the boys' coats on, she came over to say "bye". She asked what we were doing for NY's and I told her our plans were going to a friends' family party, which is really low-key. Apps, pizza, dessert, BYO-wine, beer, etc. The kids run around & play, we do a fake countdown at like 8, and are usually home between 9-10. I just kept talking and talking & she was nodding bc it seemed like she was asking of we had PLANS like she wanted to hang out. So, I invited her to this party. That I'm not hosting. Nobody knows her, not even DH, except my current BF L who is also a childhood friend. But she is in this group of friends. BTW, she thinks I am nuts.
Ugh. I don't know what to do! It's not my place to invite guests, but I feel bad that I made an offer to former BFF. She's in town with her parents and is probably looking for interactions for her 1 y/o and some social time. :\">

I'd just ask the host if its ok. Tell them the situation. I'm sure they are fine with it. Usually NYE is a more the merrier thing anyway.

  • My toddler has me shut in. I imagined two fun girly days of shopping and fun. Maya doesn't want to get dressed or leave the house. I'm bored watching Sesame Street and she's marching around in pajamas and Disney princess shoes like an evil mini-tyrant.
Sorry, I had to laugh at this as well.  She's hilarious.

My boys always want to leave the house.  It's probably because we bribe them half the places we go.  Target sometimes means a toy, the grocery store usually results in a doughnut for Brody. Brody even told me today that he was upset that we stayed home last week when his friends were at school.  He felt sad that he didn't get to be there with them.

  • I had a neuro appt this morning 45-1hr away from home. DS is at the sitters, I ran into Bed bath and beyond and wanted to buy allllll the discounted holiday stuff (that I don't need) but I didn't. I got to go to target and meander for 1hr and bought potty training reward stuff, hopefully it works. Now I am at panera, lolly gagging my way thru lunch and listening to 3 little old ppl talk and catch up and a girl giving an interview and every other word is "like" "um" etc.
  • Oh and I am waiting to hear about a job I interview for whether I got the job or not.

Emma is hosting her first sleepover tonight. We already bought matching shirts and fabric markers so they can make shirts, matching neon socks, hair chalk, nail polish, popcorn and lots of candy. Four 9 year old girls will be taking over my house, I'm scared.
Eek!  That actually sounds like tons of fun!  Though with a toddler and baby in the house, it actually sounds a bit exhausting.  :)  The girls will have  blast.

  • Ugh. A girl on my BMB posted a thread about letting her 5 month old CIO. She didn't read anything, but just assumed that you let them cry for however long it takes, after her baby had been waking 2x per night to nurse.

Her baby cried for over 2 hours in the MOTN the first night with no checks. She said she shut off the monitor and put a pillow over her head so she couldn't hear.

Second guessing my decision to start Ferber, even though, you know, I did my research.

Ugh, this is why people jump all over parents that CIO early or CIO at all.  There's a difference between using CIO as a sleep-training method vs. just ignoring your child.

And I'm not anti-CIO, or anti-sleep training before 6 months, if you've decided it's the best thing for your child.

You shouldn't second guess your decision - just do what's best for you and your little guy.

I feel really dumb for asking this.....mostly because we used CIO for both boys...at some point. Just can't recall when.
When is it typically ok to start?

  • Also, I had grand plans to have a pj day/movies/play with new toys/get things down around the house sort of day. Well at least until dragging the boys to get my oil changed at 4pm, which is also my excuse to get a latte.
But instead, we have to get dressed and run into my school.

I have not planned a thing for next week, and I need to grab my teacher manuals so that I can work from here. And I just checked my school email, the building is closed tomorrow and Thur, Fri is my uncle'a funeral, so if don't go today I'll have to wait until the weekend.

Ugh. It's cold and takes us forever to get out of the house.

  • But on the plus side, I was able to switch Will's clothes into Jack's closet and dresser while they played nicely and watched Frozen.

And one load of baby laundry is now done and I'll have room to put it away later.

Typically it's recommended to wait to do sleep training until 6 months.  That said, every child is different and there are plenty of babies that you could CIO with earlier.  So, I personally, don't see anything wrong with doing it at 5 months.

But from what I understand about CIO (and I haven't done research, so no one should listen to me), it's more than just turning off your monitor, putting a pillow over your head and ignoring your child's cries for 2 hours.  But I could be wrong.

That's sort of what I was thinking but H
Thinks that is weird bc it's not our party. I don't insert my foot in my mouth often, but when I do, it's a doozy.

  • 'They' say you can start CIO at 6 months we did it this week (a week or two early) we do full extinction at bed .time and then for middle of the night wake ups we wait 10 minutes. It has been a game changer in our house and I think she was ready for it (our longest cry session was under 30 minutes).

The recommended is 6m, and I'm not opposed to starting a bit early, it's that she cut out 2 MOTN feelings by letting her baby scream for 2 hours without checking on her

  • After this I have to try and find summer clothes for Ben to wear next week, which may be impossible in upstate New York, in the middle of winter.

He doesn't even own a short sleeved onesie.

    Oh, and we leave Friday.

Baby shorts are so weird, I would skip those anyways. Some light weight roll up pants (like these Gap pants) and some tops and you are good to go.
    Pull-on roll-up cargo pants

Or ON has cute thin leggings right now.

Leo's last 2 year molar came in last weekend! Such a relief to know that is over.

We're STILL working on them. It's been over a 9 month process. I thought for sure he'd be over them by now seeing has he had his first tooth at 3 months. Why didn't anyone tell me teething was the devil?

  • Now he's beating me about the legs and calling it the "massage".

You're welcome for real time updates.
