I am torturing myself today. I have been watching Food network all day long and drooling at all the food that I cant eat. Once this gallbladder is gone, holy crap I am going to eat everything! Jalapeño poppers, creamy alfredo, chocolate cake, creamy potatoes, biscuits...the list goes on!
Bad news...without a galballder, digesting all the fatty foods is hard and can cause some serious shits if you eat too much of it. I long for a Cinnabon, but made that mistake a few months after mine was taken out...
I had my gallbladder out and can eat all the foods. I think it just depends on your body. Hopefully you won't have issues!
OMG he just asked me again what I want for Christmas when he goes shopping tomorrow. I said "What I really want this Christmas you can't really buy at the store". And his response was "I'm sure something could be arranged"??? So he thinks what I really want is to have sex with him?!
Ugh, men. [-X

DH is getting sick and keeps snorting loudly in bed next to me. I casually gave him some tissues as a subtle hint, but he's not really using them. I'm trying really hard to not be a total bitch about it, but the snorting is driving me crazy.

I would have made the most sarcastic asshole remark to his Proposition. He must be really full of himself!

I will be very careful! I just want like one of those things. I will still monitor my fat intake but being able to eat cheese again or chocolate, that is what I miss!
The surgeon I had in 2011 didn't warn me how certain foods would go straight through you or make you sick. I learned quickly on how bad ribs doubled me over but it was sooo good just the outcome sucked. When your gallbladder is removed try to wing off pain meds as tollerated and get some miralax because the pain meds can cause you to get "backed up"
I did some nesting today and washed all of baby boy's clothes up to 6 months. I also packed most of mine and baby's hospital bag and finally decided on a pediatrician. It feels so good to focus on baby and not on work.

I just wanted to add that your body may adjust and let you have anything again. I had mine out about 10 years ago and I don't feel like I have trouble with anything now.
I hope so! Both my mom and sister had theirs out and they have no problems. To be honest I don't think the consequence could be any worse than what I am going through right now. I will see how things go when I get there! I'm just curious when they will take it out after the baby!
____
Hope you get some relief soon! Did your Dr ever mention anything to you about it being genetic or anything? My mom and sister both had theirs removed as well, my sister right after she had her 2nd baby. Just wondering if I'm next!

The epideral last time made me horribly itchy. I have a diff doc for this pregnancy and I told her about she said they could medicate me ahead of time to prevent that

Yes, it is definitely genetic! It really sucks. You never know if it will effect you though. I have two sisters and only one had hers out after the baby. None of my family had it as bad as me Though. I hope you get to miss this bandwagon. It is the worst pain I've ever felt. (I will let you know after labor, but all my doctors have told me labor pains will be easy or similar to this) good luck and thank you!
_____
Sounds absolutely horrible. I'm so sorry you're going through it! And now of all times! I do hope that it makes labor pains easier on you.
I feel like I'm more similar to my dad as far as genetics go, though. My mom and sister have a lot more in common, so we'll see. Of course my dad had non-hodgkins lymphoma so I'd rather not take over everything.
I just went and got the final things for Christmas - biscuits for Christmas morning breakfast, sugar cookie ingredients, and scotch for DH's stocking. This lovely exchange happened:
Liquor store clerk: Are you a member of our VIP club? Me: No Him: Yeah, you don't look like a heavy drinker Me: Not for the next month anyway Him: Oh, are you due in January?
I thought of some snarky answers, but I just smiled and said yes.
ETA: I just realized I posted this on Monday randoms - oops! At least I didn't accidentally post it on the birth announcements thread!
