I was planning on just staying home with DS today, but my husband and dad offered to take him with them on a small road trip to look at a barn etc! So I decided to make myself a pedicure appointment and eyebrow wax because its probably my last time to "pamper" myself for a while! The eyebrow wax is desperately needed though haha. I may also visit the bulk barn and get some Christmas candy because it's right next door
I'm not looking forward to my checkup today. I have the usual worry about weight and bp, but today I also have to get the vag/butt swab. Yup, fun times.
I'm currently sitting in the (way too hot! Omg) waiting room waiting for my lovely swab as well. Fun times!
Good luck @bkmama! I had pitocin and an epidural and didn't need a c-section! You'll do great! Happy baby day!
So after my above mentioned appt DH and I are taking DD bowling! It will be her first time and she is so excited!
So I went to the bathroom at the doctors office and in the harsh glare of the florescent lights I noticed I missed a big chunk of hair when I was plucking my eyebrows this morning. Beautiful.
I am doing no work today, and there is really no reason for me to be here, other than I am one of the highest ranking people here at the moment. But, at work I will stay until I leave for my doctor's appointment this afternoon.
@bkmama - Good luck! I hope your baby is here already, or will be soon!
@CrazyMonkeyBear - SO close to your last day! Very excited for you
@MusicFanatic - I love Zoe pictures. All of her expressions are beyond adorable.
@saiven - The next "Contratulations!" post you put up should be done in pig latin.
I'm sure I've missed plenty of people through this, I was going through skimming trying to get in as much as possible in as short of time as possible.
AFM, other than almost punching MIL in the face last night (she decided she needed to lecture me about how much easier a C-section is than vaginal birth, and how some women just aren't built to give birth vaginally, and all sorts of other nonsense bullshit)...I'm just ready to have this baby. DH will actually be home for 5 days this weekend so I'm hoping by some miracle he decides to come while he's home...

TTC Since 4/13 | Me: 28 DH: 29 | DX: PCOS + High T + Arcuate Uterus (11/13)
I am beyond exhausted (I know, preaching to the choir). My husband had the flu all weekend so I was taking care of our two little ones and him. I am drained and just need a day of sleep.
Oh, and my 3 year old son is trying to parent his 1 year old sister...oh boy it's going to be a long day.

Completely random...I am at work (Hospital) and we just had a Code Pink called (Baby abduction) it was a drill but they dont tell you that when they call it. Well I walked out into our huge lobby area and caught the "abductor" with the baby. Man did my adrenaline start going!!! But I saved a "baby" from being taken out of the hospital! OK all back to your regular randoms!
I am now praying this baby stays put till at least this weekend. My doctor canceled my appointment this week and I am kind of happy about it, I feel like getting checked is a good and bad. I am just focusing on the holidays and really enjoying my last days with E as an only child!
Just out of curiosity, is anyone else's husband's nervous about being in the delivery room? My DH is now telling me he doesn't know if he'll be able to handle the final bit (the baby actually coming out), and he thinks he'll get sick. He wants permission to be able to step out of the room and just come right back in when it's done. I can't completely blame him, but I feel like he'll miss out. So anyway, just curious if my DH is the only one feeling this way?
Tell him to stay up by your head and not look...problem solved! He will want to see your little munchkin as soon as you do and if he steps out, he will likely miss the moment!!
@littlefoote my husband was very anti-I refuse to see my wife's vag be put under such duress but when it came down to it, he was looking and actually found it very fascinating that my body was able to do what it did. I would just tell him to play it by ear and if he feels he will pass out, then step away or don't look down and focus on you. Maybe he will end up surprising himself and find it all fascinating too.

Last time, DH had a panic attack and was wheeled out into the hallway with a team of 4 people on him. He's always above the waist, too! He didn't see anything. I don't even want him in the room this time; I'd rather be alone. I would let him step out of the room if it were me.
I remember that video! I also remember the guy! I worked at an airport for a little over 5 years and he was a flight attendant for a charter so almost any weekend I worked international arrivals I got to see the "What what in the butt" guy :-D
@ littlefoote, I actually insisted that my husband not look lol! I was nervous that he wouldn't do well in the room with me during labor but he actually surprised us both and was wonderful, fortunately one of our friends had warned him not to look when they pull the baby out from c-section until baby makes it above curtain so he stuck to that. I think letting him know if doesn't have to be in there if he really can't handle it but telling him to stay by your head if he can handle it will help and at least you have your MIL if you need her
DH and I watched a birthing video last night (as opposed to going to a class). He politely asked me to not have him look at or touch mucus plug. I said that wouldn't be a problem, I probably wouldn't want to look at it either. ) We learned a lot though. So much information in such a short amount of time.
I need to get laundry done today. I didn't even put the clothes away from last week; they're just sitting in a basket on the floor of our bedroom. But if I don't do laundry, I'm wearing the same sweatpants all week long. Dilemmas.

@RobertJane33 So excited for you! Can't wait to hear how everything goes!
@britb618 Your post brought me to tears. Enjoy your mom pampering you. You are very lucky to have that.
@littlefoote and anyone nervous about their H, communicate your concerns with your nurse. They will be able to keep an eye on him and help facilitate him stepping out or just taking a breather if necessary.
@nah82 yes I'm so sorry. I just can't believe he asked you. You are so strong. I was 26 when I got divorced from my first husband and thank god we didn't have any children. I usually did our taxes every year and after our divorce he asked me if I could do his. I sd um maybe you should go to h&r block. I hope he realizes what a mistake he is making. But I know you realize you will be better off and deserve so so much more.

That sounds like my husband. He thinks watching my lady bits go through that will be traumatizing! Which in a lot of ways, I don't blame him! Thankfully, he is planning on being with me throughout labor, and I'm thinking when it comes time, he'll choose to stay in the room. He for some reason can't grasp the idea that if he really doesn't want to see, he doesn't have to look. I wouldn't be upset if he chose not to look, but I think I would be slightly disappointed if he wasn't in the room when our son is born. It's just such a big moment! I think he and I have to have another talk about it. Maybe if it got too much he could even sit in the couch and breath, lol, but still be there for the big moment!
There are definitely ways to avoid seeing anything if he so chooses. I bet in the end it will all work out and he will stay with you the entire way and be glad he did
My little mans level went back up for jaundice. He just cant catch a break and I'm a complete mess. I have to formula feed again and although that's totally not the end of the world and it'll help him, I just really enjoy breastfeeding him and not doing it often is seriously taking a toll on me. I hate this, my poor baby.
Aww this happened with my DD, and I was super bummed as well. I was able to BF her until she was 7 mos. You guys will be fine, even though it's not fun right now.
I have a sore throat today... I hope it doesn't escalate into anything more than that, but it feels swollen and raw. I just finished a caramel apple cider from sbx and now im gonna make myself some tea with honey. I still need to finish Christmas shopping! I thought I was so on top of everything back in early November... but I was wrong.
@VioletGjoni I'm sorry about your DS prayers are being sent your way.
I have a few calls to make today and I need to kick my butt to get it done. I need to call a pediatrician and a daycare provider. I've been so focused at work I've put off these things.
DH and I are looking at canceling our cable and doing Amazon Prime or Netflix. We just don't need the extra expense of cable. I'll have to wait a day to buy my Walking Dead episodes on Vudu but it's cheaper than paying for cable. This also means looking into a digital antenna for network channels. We've been down this road before and ended up keeping cable but with a baby on the way cable is going bye bye.
So we found out that the pediatrician we liked doesn't take our insurance after all. There was a bit of confusion about the exact plan we had. We could switch to the other plan my work offers, but it's more expensive so we don't want to.
I go the name of another pediatrician in the area and I called today - they definitely take our plan and the receptionist was so nice I'm honestly extremely impressed. The doctor will have a consultation with us at no charge, which I love. And it's one on one, which I also love. I'm going to send DH to meet with him Friday morning since I still have to work. I love that DH took days off around the holidays so I can send him on all the baby errands!
I just had to share, since this pediatrician nonsense has been so stressful for me. I'm almost 38 weeks and we still have no doctor for this baby! FX this guy is it, though!
The husbands being in the room during delivery reminded me of this. With DS, I was kind of nervous about DH watching because I didn't want him to get grossed out or think of my vagina as just practical thing for having babies vs. in a sexy way. He was in the room and watched, and he said it was amazing, and it didn't hurt our sex life at all.
This time I think my hemorrhoids are a bit worse, so I warned him about that. He hasn't seen them because we don't have sex that often, and when we do, he avoids that area per my request. Anyway...I just don't want to be or feel gross during labor. I certainly don't want to see what's happening with a mirror. I am looking forward to the sweet/amazing/beautiful parts of it but not so much the other parts.
@violetgjoni, I don't know why the nurse would say that to you, even if it is true, not helpful and obviously just makes you nervous! Hope his levels get better and you are able to feel good about whatever method you end up feeding Lukas, even if it is a little bit of both
@nah82, nothing wrong with denial. For what its worth my dad came over every Christmas after we opened presents with my mom until my brother was probably 20. His gf never came but it was never really brought up either. He only stopped doing it once my mom was in a serious relationship and it had gotten too awkward, but like I said, my brother was 20. At this age theres no reason (if you can handle it) that you shouldn't be in the same room for the kids. In the end having a decent relationship where you can at least stand the sight of each other will be good for your children. But you do whatever you need to do for you and don't worry about anyone else's opinions. (other than your kids of course)
My little mans level went back up for jaundice. He just cant catch a break and I'm a complete mess. I have to formula feed again and although that's totally not the end of the world and it'll help him, I just really enjoy breastfeeding him and not doing it often is seriously taking a toll on me. Aww this happened with my DD, and I was super bummed as well. I was able to BF her until she was 7 mos. You guys will be fine, even though it's not fun right now.
She rebounded, too? The nurse said in her 12 years of nursing, she has never seen a rebound so she made me extra nervous! I'm glad to see it's happened to other babies and then they got healthy, again! Totally not saying I'm happy babies have it, just being hopeful that our babies are okay after!
I am not sure your entire story with your baby's jaundice, but my son went through a terrible bought when he was born too.
My son had terrible issues with jaundice when he was born too. He was actually released from the hospital 2 days after he was born, but they had been watching his numbers closely. He was something like a 12, and they would only treat it if he was a 13, or something like that. Anyway, that was on a Sunday afternoon. We had our first check-up at 8AM the very next day. When we got to the office the doctor could tell he did not look good right away. He was so jaundice that the light meter they check with in the office would not even work on him. We were sent straight to the hospital to have his numbers checked. It had spiked to something like 24. He was immediately admitted to the NICU, started on formula and given an IV. It took over 7 days to get his numbers back to a normal range. Some days it would come down, and other days it would go back up. It was absolutely awful! I feel your pain!
I hope his numbers improve soon. Also, not sure if they will do this for you, but they did send us to a hematologist to get extra blood work done after he was recovered from it all. They also did one extra blood test when he turned 12 months. This was because his doctor definitely said the way his number spiked, and the fact that the NICU struggled so long to get it back down was not normal. All of his extra blood work turned out fine, which is great. It is just so hard to go through at the time.
@VioletGjoni, I'm so sorry your little guy is still going through this jaundice. I hope his levels drop off really soon.
@nah82, I think those commercials would want to make me toss my tv out of the window! I'd ask for a lifetime supply of Starbucks and never to have to deal with his bullshit ever again. (Ok not really, I tend to talk a big game.) But you deserve some good coffee (or something like that) at least.
@saiven, you should start wishing everyone good sexy times in 6 weeks. How creepy is that! lol
But seriously (and unrelated), what they don't tell you is that it can hurt the first couple of times... Boo.
AFM, I had my first outside baby dream last night. It was a boy and looked just like the boy in the pictures I'd been editing from my last photo session. I took him home from the hospital and still didn't have a name for him for over a week. He was a big boy and I kept asking him, who do you look like? Maybe you look like a Beau? (Weird because Beau is totally NOT on our list) Then I had a dream (separate) that I was searching for some weed! Like seriously... Now I'm having pregnancy cravings for weed? So weird. I do like it, but I'm way too chicken in my old age to get caught. Maybe a vacation with dh to Colorado will be in order in a year our so. Hehehe
@VioletGjoni - she's 11 now and I dont quite remember a rebound, however- I couldn't BF for roughly 3 days (I do recall the daily blood checks). Are they having you pump and dump? Or can you save what you pump?
@VioletGjoni I've definitely seen bilis bounce back before, especially in babies with risk factors (boy, breast feeding, born before 38 weeks, etc). The most important thing right now is that he stays well hydrated no matter if it's breast or formula. Just know that you are doing everything you can to be a great mommy to him!
Speaking of hydration, being sick while pregnant is the worst thing ever. I spent a lovely evening contracting on L&D due to dehydration, fever and vomiting. They finally let me go sleep in my own bed around 3am after the contractions spaced out with fluids...not dilated yet thankfully because only 35 weeks, just 50% effaced. Today I'm in achey/febrile misery, I miss Motrin! This Tylenol/zofran isn't cutting it. I'm guessing one of my pediatric patients shared some lovely virus with me but part of my irrational self is worried about something more serious like Listeria. Which I'm sure is just me being paranoid, but the worry remains.
Guys, I am at the point that I want to lock myself in my room until monday when my csection is or when baby girl decides its time to come(whichever comes first). I have had no filter this past week and am just a big ol grumpy pants . i need more christmas spirit or something
Re: Monday Randoms
Mine was near the butt, not actually in it. A crucial difference!
