@smpeachey thanks for that posting guide! I started to read it and it totally reminded me that I wanted to give to malaria prevention this year. As someone who has had malaria 3x and was fortunate enough to have the money to get hospital care the time that I had it the worst, you'd THINK I'd remember that is one of the most worthy causes in my estimation!
@workinit I cut 14" of virgin hair off on our honeymoon to donate. I did it on our cruise and the ship stylist had never cut that much hair off, let alone bagged it! I can't wait to see yours!
Had an epic nap today. Now I'm back on my same comfy spot on the couch. This is probably the only day I will be in the house all day during this trip so I'm totally milking it for all its worth.
The day after Thanksgiving I dragged both boys to the store and bought clay to make...something for DH. I knew it would involved hand prints. I ended up crafting a football, they cooperated with the prints and I used a toothpick to write 2014 at the bottom. Then I got fanceh. I made (free hand, mind you) the Kansas City Chiefs logo to affix to the football, hid the entire thing and let it dry for weeks. The logo didn't stick so last night I sprayed the whole thing with some kind of spray enamel and tried to then glue the KC thing to the football and...it broke. MOTHER FUCKER.
Yes it was just the logo part so I'm giving it to him as is and maybe I'll be motivated to recreate it. He knew I was working on something and he saw I was upset when I came up from the basement last night and felt awful. He kept asking if I wanted to tell him what it was and I said no, he was getting it busted on xmas lol
@Workinit Call me naive, but I have no idea what virgin hair is. My mind automatically goes to the gutter and then things get muddy. What is virgin hair?
@violet1183 I too have been the victim of "we're going to need two more waxers in here to finish in the appointment time." When I was pregnant I did full leg and bikini wax and when I left the room I saw enough used strips to make a bear skin rug. My mom was is pale, hairless, Irish red head who has tried really ineffectively to help her 4 hairy daughters with hair removal but she was useless in puberty since she didn't even need to shave as an adult. I had electrolysis treatments for over a year for my upper lip and finally the technician said, "I think your hair just doesn't get the message." This was part of the reason I loved living in Africa- no one had leg hair so it was considered this rare, sexy thing. That and being kind of fat. Seriously, it is sexy to be fat and hairy there. Is it any wonder half the Peace Corps girls find mates and live there?
+1 Alex always gives me a hard time about my hairy arms.
FFMC: I nair my arms. I'm super pale, and I get really dark hair on my arms. (Not saying you should, @colieann31! Rock it!)
I would like to get rid of the hair but I'm so nervous to do it! I'm super pale too with dark hair. I was teased when I was younger. Alex teases me but I know he's just giving me a hard time. We both tease each other over silly things like this. I am just so scared to pull the trigger and go about a hair removal!
Just posting my little guys with the big guy. Arlo was not impressed. g was wearing a shirt that said, "on the nice list." He must have heard us talking about it because he walked up to Santa and said, "the shirt says it all!" That's red blooded American entitled male confidence for you!
~X( Alex has been home for 2 hours. He's been in the bedroom the entire time. Changing his clothes, setting up his new phone, picking up the bedroom. He has even eaten dinner yet. I wanted to spend some time together after Grayson went to sleep but I think I'll just go to bed with Grayson tonight. Alex sucks right now.
You guys DH just asked me how he could find a sandwich bag in my deconstructed pantry living all over the house. I asked him why and he said he needed it to pack his Truvia packets because he didn't like that my parents' house had only sugar, equal or Splenda. I must have been incapable of hiding my disgusted impression because he said, "I know traveling with my own sweetener is a little a high maintenance." A little?!
DS's video of the year for the grandparents is done! Just need to burn it and create the DVD insert.
Debating going to target tomorrow to pick up holiday PJs for DS as Wednesday is PJ day. His only non-footy PJs that fit is his skeleton Halloween costume.
DH tries to convince me that "holiday pj day" isn't specific and B should wear Halloween PJs.
We have a seriously tender bottom over here from a day of diarrhea. Full on crying when he peed this evening. We're going to need a heavier duty diaper cream. I should've taken a screen shot before, but didn't. Who has it? @lioness13?
Ugh, DD got sent home from daycare with a fever and was up off and on all night. Headed to the ped this morning. This kid has impeccable timing; I only have mountains of stuff to do at work.
So I don't think I'm doing my BCP right, or something has messed up. I started it in September, on my first day of period. During week four, the placebo week, I had just light spotting. Not even enough to wear a tampon. It was like that for Oct and Nov too. Then this past month I got what I considered to be a full period on week three of the hormone pills. I'm now on week four of that pack, the placebos, and am concerned I'm not protected because my period was last week.
Am I normal? Can anyone weigh in? I will call the nurse at my Ob if I need to.
I'm probably way off here, but I thought you were supposed to start them the day your period ended??? Like have your period, then start the pack?
A still has a fever and is just miserable...I hate seeing her feel this bad and nothing is helping. Called pedi and they said we have to just wait it out
Ugh. BIL, SIL, niece and nephew are supposed to come over tomorrow. DH gets a text this morning "heads up" that niece had a fever over the weekend and nephew was up puking with a fever last night. Heads up? Am I being irrational that I think tomorrow afternoon is too close to the puke fest for them to come? If we were going there we would excuse ourselves but how do you uninvite people to your house??
Sorry, edited to say they're supposed to come TOMORROW. Does that change anyone's opinion? lol
Annnnd there goes another day and a half of daycare this month. They're sending B home because he's had too many diarrhea episodes. Apparently he wasn't supposed to be allowed back today, but DH didn't know, so they took him and said they'd call if he had another diarrhea. They called less than an hour after DH got back.
Colds I can deal with. Even ones with major snot and coughing. Puke and fevers? I can't believe they haven't backed out already.
Totally agree. I'm not one to avoid family events for fear of M catching a cold. But fever, puking, that's much much worse. Plus, why would you want to bring your sick kid out when they are feeling like that? I'm sure he'd rather stay home in his own bed and watch cartoons

I think I should eat some food.
DH is watching Community. I got to hear this gem:
Britta: So have you considered natural childbirth?
Shirley: Are you kidding me? I'll take whatever they got.
An epidural is a proper Christian woman's only chance to get wrecked.
lolz.

The 70 lb lab story had me laughing so hard I cried when I read it to DH.
