    I don't think these are mutually exclusive. I can be against the "I can't breathe and the "i can breathe" shirts. I can say "don't say no to a cop" (that's like day 1 shit right there) and also firmly believe that some officers DO overstep. A taser would've accomplished the goal in the Eric Garner case. Probably in the Tamir case as well. There are less lethal forces that can and should be utilized, but that does not mean it's ok to target a person or a race or a profession.

    Of course!  Some do overstep.  There's racial profiling galore. There are corrupt cops.  Cops are just people.

    It's not OK to target anyone.  None of this is OK, that's obvious.

    This was an actual protest. I am making nothing up. Yes, the meme is stupid, but the message is on point.

    That video appears on our local news, not just some conservative site. I just copied it from there. If I just used the video and not the entire article would you believe it happened, then? Cuz that's stupid.

    I don't think ANY lives should be lost. It's infuriating. But the protests are NOT PRODUCTIVE the way they are being handled and they have been violent. Spitting on police officers is an assault. So is punching them. This is happening. Live in a bubble. That's good.

    Oh my gosh.

    I drove through the Bronx twice on Saturday and the return trip was scary. There was traffic on the GW and the Cross Bronx and people were holding up 'Death to Cops' signs and there is pretty clear audio and video of protesters on the December 13th rally in NYC saying "what do we want? Dead cops. When do we want them? Now."

    Maybe it is only making the news in the metro NY area, but it is pretty easy to verify.

    That being said, there are always going to be asswipes that take advantage of any situation and make into a worse situation. The overwhelming majority of protesters are not these people. But, to pretend they don't exist is nonsense.

    All lives matter and until apologists cut the crap on both sides and open up an actual dialogue, this ain't going to end anytime soon. You think cops were scared before? My cousin is a first year NYPD and they stuck him on the overnight shift in Bushwick. He is a petrified little kid, but he is a good kid and he will likely quit now because of this.

    There is a continuum of incidents in the country where unarmed black men are being killed by police. That cannot be denied. But, we cannot allow that to lead us to a point where each incident is not viewed as a separate incident. Police need to be supported. Black need to stop being seen as hulking and violent men.

    Can't link it here, but the Black Lives Matter- Birmingham facebook page has a pretty succinct list of things that can make a difference. Or at least, make a start.

    I don't want to feed a troll, but apparently the media has been distorting some of the chants to sound pro-violence when they are not.  I'm not suggesting that is the case in the video that was shared earlier, but it is the case in a Baltimore FOX segment.

    @acesup‌ I am so sorry your support thread got derailed. I really hear you and I can't imagine how hard this must be right now. Or maybe I can because I went through something similar when those EMTs were murdered a few years ago. It's so scary.

    That's what my husband is. It's no less or more dangerous and they are still at risk of people in police uniforms are targeted. Law enforcement is law enforcement.
