Happy birthday @FitmomJess!
I called my supervisor yesterday at 11:30 am to talk to him about the fact that my doctor wants me to work from home from now until the end, but I never heard back. Idk if I should go in this morning or not. It just started snowing so I'm thinking not.
Happy birthday @FitmomJess
I just got a text that one of my old friends was in labor for 24 hours yesterday! She was induced, I seriously hope it doesn't take that long for everyone else!
Well, my supervisor called me back and was basically like, "Our policy is no working from home." Okay but I still have a doctor's note. He was like, "You can take sick time to cover it even if you're actually working." Well, no, why the F would I do that? And how is that fair?? I am so over all of the ridiculous "policies" they have.
What are you going to do? Can you go out on disability? There would be no way I would use my sick time and continue to work! BS
Had my 38 week checkup yesterday. I really like my doctor. First, she hasn't done any cervical checks, which I love. I feel like it doesn't matter much, it will just be painful and in the end, the baby will come when she comes.
But also, the baby was having a quiet day yesterday and I was a LITTLE worried and paranoid. All I did was mention that I was a little worried, and it was probably nothing, but that would be my worst nightmare, and my doctor immediately sent me over to L&D for a quick NST. Everything was fine - movement, fluid, heartbeat all good. But I do really like knowing that everything is ok. I feel a lot better.
I'm getting period-like cramping every night but I feel fine again in the morning. I'm excited to see what every day will bring! Trying to control my anxiety about giving birth and making sure she's healthy is hard, though. The closer I get to my EDD, the realer it gets for me, and the more I start to worry.

What about any pregnancy discrimination laws that apply in MA? Or the ADA? If it's not an undue hardship for them (which is a really high standard) they should tread lightly here. PM me if you want to chat more about this...
@ACH831 : did your supervisor email you all this information? Like do you have it in writing that he/she said use your sick time and work from home? If so I would take that info to HR or someone as that sounds so illegal. I had a similar problem when pregnant with DS. My job didn't want to lower my job duties and allow me to sit with a drs note. They wanted me to just go on maternity leave. I basically had to come up with new job duties I could do from a desk and fight with the higher supervisors. It was incredibly uncomfortable and wasn't treated the same since. Hope it works out!
@LuckyPenny1231@bkmama unfortunately as a non-permanent employee I do not get any kind of disability coverage through work, and the private policy that DH and I have doesn't cover anything related to my pregnancy.
@luckylady18 he said he is going to look into it and we will talk more tomorrow. If they are going to continue to give me shit about this then I will look into what the ADA says about it. It is definitely not an undue hardship for them, considering that all of my remaining projects can be completed remotely, that all of my judges (the people I actually do the work for) are fine with it and are easily able to contact me remotely, and that there are other people in my office who are willing and able to cover any in-office situation where a judge might need something more immediately. I think my supervisor understands this, and yet his main concern seemed to be that other people might see that I got this "exception" and try to mold future situations to have it apply to them, too. But honestly, that really isn't my problem.
So over it!!
In happier news, my crib was just delivered
Ok good luck - if you need me you know where to find me!
I am pumped to have finished my Christmas shopping yesterday! Now just have to find time to wrap it all. Tomorrow night we are having some friends over for a small Christmas party so I am currently just trying to find the ambition to clean up the house. I'm making a bunch of apps for tomorrow evening as well but I cheated and bought a few to make things easier. I had my 37 week appointment yesterday with my midwife...nothing too much to report, baby is head down still (thankfully) and I'm GBS negative (yay!). Also measuring right on still so no worries in that department. Now the only anxiety I have is when Jr. is actually going to make an appearance! I'm still hoping for after New Years, but LO gets to make that call! HBD @FitmomJess hope you have a great day!
tkr7c9 I have only had two ultrasounds, a dating one a 9 weeks and my anatomy scan at 19 weeks. All it means is that you have a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy, so I try and keep that in mind. It's a good thing, although it does suck not to get to see anymore pictures.
@ACH831 That really sucks. I hope you can figure something out with your work without having to take leave early (unless you want to do that, of course).
I only woke up ONCE last night. I got 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep. I had to pee like crazy when I woke up, but it was glorious sleep.
Soooo....just got my bill for my first two NSTs. $43.00 a pop. Awesome. I've already had five and I have a maximum of 7 more to go (if I make it all the way to induction day.) That's $516 just to be hooked up to the machine for 30-45 minutes. Don't get me wrong, I'm so thankful for the extra monitoring and the fact that my OB seems to be taking it all very seriously but damn.
There was also a charge on there for $139 for "labor and delivery room." Definitely going to have to look into that because as far as I know, I haven't had this baby yet so don't know what that's all about.
Just have to rant about some of the parents I deal with at my intersection.
The water department is replacing the water pipes in front of this private school. They've had to shut down the streets, obviously, since the water pipes are UNDERGROUND. So a couple of the parents are enraged because they have to park a block away and walk over with their kids. So they yell at me about it. "It's an inconvenience, we pay a lot of money to go here. They don't even give a shit about us! Why don't they work over night and on weekends?"
Well, lady you are correct, the water department gives no shits about you and the money you spend for tuition. They don't care if it inconveniences you for the 10 minutes it takes you to drop off/pick up your kid.
My parents are visiting, so we went to Tillamook (<1 hour away!) and got some Squeeky cheese. Mmm... cheese curds. We also went to Blue Heron. It's another cheese factory right next door to Tillamook, but they specialize in French cheese. THEY HAD AN EMU!! Took several pictures and thought of all you lovely ladies! :-bd Had a Dr. appt yesterday morning. I am finally dilating, only at 1 cm though. But still, it's something! I thought this kid was never going to get ready to come out to the real world.
DH surprised me by deciding last minute to not fly out to CO for his cousin's graduation. I feel bad he's going to miss it but know he would be feel even worse if something were to happen to me while he was gone. (Side note: He helped raise cousin when she was little; her mom never has/never will win "MOTY awards".) FIL bought plane ticket for DH to fly out there and now needs a note from my Dr saying DH should stay in town for me, hoping to get money back. We told him to buy a refundable ticket, and he decided to just get traveler's insurance, which does not cover pregnancy. Now, FIL might be out several hundred $$.
Today, I finish Christmas shopping for DH and have lunch with my parents.
All this walking around is going to send me into labor, which my parents are hoping for! I think this is their ulterior motive for taking me everywhere!
My aunt very kindly sent me some pajamas and a nursing bra for after I give birth, but the built-in bra shelf in the pajama top and the bra itself are both waayyy too tiny for my DDDs. I guess I'll just use the bottoms and give away the other two pieces?
I found a kitten outside and brought it in. It's cold and raining... H is going to kill me
Oh do I know that feeling! My mom and I found 3 kittens outside a couple years and I took them home. My own kitty and H were not amused at all. Neither was my really good friend, who housed the kittens for me until we found them homes. He's a dog person.
January '15 January Siggy Challenge: Newborn/Baby Fails
This is the first year that I ordered Christmas presents for myself. So I wrapped them and labeled them To: Mom From Baby. DH may get suspicious come Christmas morning.

The entitlement is strong in that place.
People are so lazy! I don't understand the parents that drive a couple blocks to the bus stop, either. Exercise is good for kids. Even my fat ass waddles to the bus stop every morning.
Baby has been head down for many weeks now, but I'm still getting jabs to the cervix. She must be putting her hand above her head. If it gets stuck there and she comes out hands first you can all weep for my vag.
I found out that because of the flu the hospital where I am delivering is no longer allowing children under 13 to visit. I called to inquire about exceptions though and unofficially they will allow siblings to visit in the mother baby unit as long as they are healthy. So happy!

I could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love.
@snowbaby1214 It boggles my mind. And she 2ants the to work overnight to do the sawing and drilling. Yeah, cool, now the neighbors don't get sleep because you don't want to walk a block. She would feel a lot better about walking if she wore more comfortable shoes in the morning.
@labellavida, so happy he flipped! I know you were stressing that
As to the ultrasounds, nothing too exciting at the U/S as you get further along anyway because you can't see much since baby is so big. The other day I saw the spine and heart basically. Eventually she found his legs (they were up by his face) and measured his head but he's facing my insides so no face shots or even portrait shots. So no worries that your not seeing baby, your not missing much
Last night my daughter would not fall asleep, I was legit trying to keep my eyes open and she just kept bopping around. Then my dh came in at 130 dd woke up again at 330, so basically was up every two hours. not cool!
But on a happier note, I've been putting the electric collar on the dog and even though the electric fence isn't actually on, he won't run away because he's not sure if it is or not so I haven't had to chase him finally! maybe just maybe he and I will be friends again once this baby is outta my body!
I need to get baking cookies and making popcorn drizzle and Oreo truffles but I have no energy. DD was up every hour crying owie. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. She woke up this morning with a really bad stuffy nose, cough, and anytime I come near her throat she cries so I think she has a sore throat too. Now I feel like a bad mom for losing my patience with her last night.
I couldn't fall asleep last night because I am so anxious all the time now. I feel like I'm on the edge of a breakdown. I had my appointment yesterday and I'm measuring 38 weeks (not a big deal the MW said he doesn't even feel like that big of a baby so I should be fine) and we scheduled my next appointment. She said it will be a long one because she is bringing my birthing kit with her and we will go over everything in it and new born procedures and sign consent forms. How am I this far already? Of course she tells me all this and then takes my BP. 138/80 she said I need to take it easy or we might have a problem.

I just got back from my 36 week appointment - had the strep b test done and baby is head down but high. 1cm dilated and 20% effaced. I know that doesn't mean much but there it is. Also, up until this week I was measuring 2 weeks ahead but now I'm measuring at 36 weeks. She said this baby was going to take her time but she thought maybe the weekend after Christmas.
Today was my last day with students (my planning day is tomorrow). I dressed up all festive with a Mickey Mouse Santa hat, red shirt, black leggings, and black boots. I tried to look like Santa without the beard. I think the belly helped! Selfie below. I also read The Night Before Christmas to all my groups. Most of them had never heard it before and they were so captivated by the story. I don't think my first graders have ever been that quiet lol. My students seemed genuinely sad that I'm going out on leave. I'm going to miss the little boogers.
Waddled around the local church thrift shop looking for a replacement music box for ds's old mobile, no luck there but found all the books were a quarter today. I got 30 children's books but the church lady tried to charge me 13.50. Not sure where that came from but I spoke up and she redid it and it was only 7.50. Woo hoo!
My MIL who hasn't sent us a Christmas gift in 6 years (not only to DH and I, but to our kids), sent a box full of gifts in the mail...I am trying really hard to be grateful, but she is a schemer and I am trying really hard to not think it is some scheme of hers.
I think pregnancy hormones don't help the situation.

Not really, but I'm so excited! I just got done with my mfm, baby failed his NST (not exciting) but finally passed.
Anyway, HE FLIPPED! Finally he's head down! \:D/
Hopefully he'll stay that way!
