It worries me how different nurses have such differing opinions at times. Is there not some sort of standard practise?
I would be so wary of leaving just in case. I am a bit of a worrier though. I'd probably hang out in the car in the parking lot lol
That's a loaded question - there are standards (protocols) for certain things, often specific to certain facilities, and usually in certain situations. Evidence-based practice is typically the gold standard by which medical people are supposed to act, however it would be overly optimistic to expect that all medical facilities are up to date on the latest.
And just like every profession, there are crappy nurses and there are great nurses.
My mom just texted me that she has family pictures scheduled 4 days after my RCS and to let her know "if you absolutely cannot arrange your schedule."
Gee, Mom, it's not so much an issue of scheduling as it is recovering from major abdominal surgery.
Um, does she know you might not even be discharged from the hospital for four days?
My family pictures are at least scheduled almost two weeks after my CS, but my family also has to drive six hours and come to me this year.
She was here when I had my first and was in the hospital for 6 days, so she SHOULD know that it's possible I will still be in the hospital.
She also told my sibling about my RCS before I could. And apparently also told her neighbors, because one of them stopped me the other day and mentioned the date.
I feel bad whining because she also bought me nursing/maternity clothes for Christmas (which I am already wearing) and a ton of stuff for baby and is knitting hat #3 and will also be watching our oldest for us. So overall she is being awesome, but seems to have this blindspot around family photos.
D14 November Siggy Challenge - How I Feel 3rd Tri:
Also, @misskilljoy, I hope some rest and the 2nd dose of Cervidil help move things along for you! So sorry that you're in pain. I vote get some pain meds b/c it might help you relax and progress. Sending good thoughts your way.
D14 November Siggy Challenge - How I Feel 3rd Tri:
As soon as I can muster the sheer force of will necessary to get out of bed and find the number they gave me, I think it's time to call them. Hasn't quite been an hour yet though.
Pssh! Close enough. Call! Call! Call!
November Siggy Challenge: How I feel in the Third Trimester
Ugh. Had my apt today, we had the talk about the "i" word. Hopefully that will make something happen naturally. And apparently my cervix is very far back/high cause doc couldn't quite reach it too see if there's been any change. Now I'm cramping and spotting like a mofo cause she, quote "really made a grab at it". I feel like the more I say I don't want her to have a Christmas birthday, the more she's going to do exactly that. She's quite stubborn already.
Oh good call! Still waiting for #200! How's that induction going, @misskilljoy?
I go back in about half an hour for them to remove the second Cervidil and hopefully get this show on the road. Next step is breaking my water and starting pit.
My plan is to walk in* and say, "Morphine please, then we talk induction." I never did take any meds earlier and I feel like my body is done coping with the pain now.
So true - it's like magic. I took like 9 hours on Pitocin to go from 1 to 3 cm, got the epi, then was at 10 1.5 hrs later - hope the epi speeds you along too! Enjoy the relaxation and good luck!!
D14 November, because I am finally not on mobile, how I feel in 3rd tri:
@misskilljoy my doc had to numb me way too much to get me to lose sensation. I was so out of it. But I was also having terrible back labor, so I think that had something to do with me feeling so much. Hypersensitivity for the win. It did kind of stink that I had to have my epi turned off when it was time to push because I was so numb I couldn't get a good push going.
Good luck and I hope you have a speedy delivery!!
And @Slaps congratulations on baby Atticus!! I love that name

@ladythrice I am not sure about the oxygen monitors or if they use the ones they put on your finger during labor but gel nail polish and acrylic hinders those readings. Sometimes they will use your toe, but they will scratch all the polish off your toe to use it too

That's great... Bish. :P
For dessert I may have a Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cake with a glass of milk. Or a package of Nutty Bars. Or I might stop on the way home and get brownie mix. A warm brownie with ice cream and hot fudge sounds magical.
Wanna come over for dinner and dessert?

Is that a sexual offer? If so, I'm way too pregnant for that shit! ;-)
You and me both sister. I hear that sperm is supposed to help ripen my cervix and that nipple stimulation might work. If anyone tries to shove anything up my vagina or touch my nipples right now I'd probably murder them.

I think I need to try the Christmas tree cakes since everyone is talking about them.
I like oatmeal cream pies.
Oh, and that chocolate bundt cake they have at KFC. So good. Do they still have those? I haven't had KFC in probably 5 years...
Oh they're delicious. Sweet, sugary goodness.
And yes, KFC still has the chocolate cake. Hubby came home with one the other night because they made him wait forever for his food.

Dad and step mom are getting a hot air balloon ride. Mom and step dad are getting golf passes and a new scarf. MIL is getting pewter dreidel salt and pepper shakers and still have no idea what to get FIL. MH says no to everything I suggest.
Can I come over for dinner? Philly cheesesteaks sound delish!

We had the blanket for Chalupa. It really helped! I was crazy nervous too, but it was really good for him. I guess jaundice is very common.
