Then shouldn't you have asked your doctor when you first got pregnant?

  • Methinks it's time for you to step away from the keyboard.

I haven't even been on much today and I know I've seen too many strange posts from you.

    Where's our trolldar?

My heightened pregnancy nose thought it was smelling a troll today...

  • If you are smoking weed whilst pregnant your baby can get addicted and cause a lot of health problems. Anything you are doing during pregnancy affects your baby.
  • This can't be for real..... Please
  • My cousin's wife smoked weed with all 5 of her children. Three of the five basically will carry asthma pumps and be on breathing treatments for most if not all of their lives. The other 2 don't seem to have any problems but really like others have said why chance it!

I'll play along too for shits and giggles.

    A)  It's nine months.  Unless you have a DEBILITATING sickness (and let me tell you having severe HEG where I am on 3 medications a day and puking non stop since week 5...I know sickness better or as well than just about anyone dealing with nausea) WHY can't you quit for nine months?  I'm all for legalization, obviously prohibition isn't doing the country any good.  When I am visiting Colorado I have smoked before pregnancy and may again after, provided I'm somewhere where it's legal.  But if you seriously can't put it down for nine months that's ridiculous.  And stupid.  And selfish.

B )  If you did have some sickness or something you and a doctor deemed worthy of using it, WHY on earth would you tell a group of strangers that you are?  What on earth will that accomplish?  I realize you haven't actually come out and said that yet but just for future reference... keep that shit to yourself and your doctors.

    C)  Breastfeeding and marijuana is even worse, so you just need to stop if you're doing it.  Put it down and quit.
  • Really??? What a dumb question!!!

I'm I the only one that gets drug tested EVERY APPOINTMENT?!?

I have crappy free insurance thanks for Obamacare and they make me pee in a cup and do a whole plethora of tests on my urine, and I'm 100% positive one of those tests is a UDS (urine drug screen). Every appointment. In fact the MW mentioned in passing that I passed my drug screen at my first appt. I was all "woohoo! Oh wait, I don't do drugs"

I was going to say... I dont get drug tested at every appointment

So much craziness in one post. No am so confused. So, you think your doctor's office drug tests you because of Obamacare? Would your alternative to this subsidized insurance be no insurance?
Yes. I had regular insurance (not paid for by the state) last time around and didn't have my urine taken at every appt unless I had a symptom they needed to check. It could be a state to state thing, who knows. I do know that until I was on govt sponsored insurance, I didn't have my urine taken each appt.

Eta- when signing up for my govt sponsored insurance, they gave me a bunch of paperwork and it stated that by having that insurance i consented to drug screens during pregnancy.

I have insurance we pay for and have had to pee in a cup every appointment for every pregnancy. This is with 2 different doctors in two different states. And by the amount of ladies that questioned peeing in a cup when they get bigger I am going to assume they also pee in a cup every appointment.
Well I'm not sure what to tell you. Last time when I had regular insurance I was not drug tested. This time, with govt sponsored insurance, I have already been informed that I have been drug tested. I assumed it was due to the difference in insurances, but that's an assumption.

Sorry you had crappy prenatal care last time? You should have your urine tested at every appointment for the reasons @norsern‌ said.

Really? I'm genuinely surprised by this. I haven't had mine tested since I was 8 weeks (and at a different practice of Drs in a different state). Maybe I'll ask at the next appt

    Not sure if serious....
Babies go through withdrawals just like people do
  • Yes, at every prenatal appt you shld be getting checked for sugar, protein, and UTIs. Sounds like you had a bad doctor.

I never peed in a cup at my midwife group last time. I think this is part of why the PreE wasn't caught. I guarantee my proteins were elevated and PIAC would have alerted them.

  • I get a urine test every appointment & they aren't drug testing me. It's to check oro

    Same here.
  • My nurses now ask every single time. There are cups and you get your stickers. I don't remember either at the MW group. I know lots of places start samples at 20 weeks but I went to 26 and never had one.

  • I feel like my pee tests (not for drugs I mean, the normal pregnancy ones) are more than half my reason for my pre-natal check ups...  It's the first thing I do when I go in, they check it, tell me what it looks like and if I need this or that or are burning keystones....

Otherwise I just answer a few questions and am on my way, on a normal non ultrasound appointment that is.
  • I guess we'll find out when your child is referred for testing to determine if he/she has a learning disability. If so, you will likely want me to figure out why and how to fix it.

  • I mostly wanted to make the distinction that its not always mandatory to PIAC at every practice. I remember thinking it was weird when most people on my BMB did at each visit but I was never instructed to do so. Even when I had to pee after a u/s no one said to leave a sample or gave me a cup.

  • My doctor's office has us PIAC first thing in the morning and then bring the sample in with us to our appointment. But because of my asymptomatic UTI my doctor is also having me PIAC at the lab after every appointment too to test specifically for UTI's.
