I just dumped three toy bins in the middle of the living room so G would be entrrtained for a moment. He looked at me like wtf mom? Lol He's now happily playing
Also! Fcccck! I told DH to buy the peppermint chips while I made the dough. Thankfully most of the dough is still in the freezer and I only made 12 cookies because they are WAY TOO GOOD!! I've had too many and I want more. The ones that are left are screaming my name in the kitchen. THIS IS A WARNING! DO NOT LISTEN TO SRC. STAY AWAY FROM THE EVIL PEPPERMINT CHIPS!!
Ugh, we went to open gym this morning and there was a little boy there about Silas's age, maybe a little older, who was NOT having a good time. The woman he was there with also had a baby with her but this poor kid was just standing at the edge of the room crying and the woman was just ignoring him and occasionally just telling him "you're fine."
He clearly just wanted to be picked up and comforted and she refused. Several other ladies were coming up to him and trying to console him and looking for his adult, and only then would she come over to him. He didn't want to play and was clearly miserable and kept reaching for her. At one point she grabbed his outstretched hands and wiggled him and told him to "shake it off". My heart was breaking for that poor little dude, would it have killed her to give him a hug?? Even worse (I think?) I overheard her telling another woman he wasn't her kid. I would lose my shit if I saw my child's "caretaker" treating my kid like that.
In our neighborhood, those interactions get emailed to the parenting listserv.
Something like, "Was your kid at XX today wearing Y? If so, I'd like to chat with you about what I saw today with your nanny."
I wish I could figure out a way to do that. If I see him again with someone that seems to be the parent I'm going to say something. I've been thinking about that poor little guy all day.

Yikes @mermomof6! Does she not realize you guys are full as is? Excited for you @martyn17. DH gets out at 7 tonight instead of 10. I'm excited to see him more as well!
I have had my stuffed animal since I was 4. He is literally the only possession that I care about. More than my wedding ring. I'm not overly sentimental, and I've moved 12 times in my life, so I've never been one to put much stock into material goods. Except for Puffy. But Puffy is beyond salvageable. And the thought of him just sitting in my closet the rest of my life doesn't seem right. So, today I packed up Puffy the Puffalump and sent him to my internet friend. She makes bears and elephants out of different material that people send her. I am hoping that she can salvage a part of Puffy, so that a part of Puffy, along with one of Ben's A&A blankets, and a few of his newborn outfits, can create a new bear that Ben can love on.
My coworker took one last pic of me and Puffy. And this is an example of what the bear is going to look like.

Awww, @MRads! What a beautiful gift for Ben. I love this idea. Puffy was obviously very loved and will continue to be.
@MRads that is so sweet. I have an old teddy bear named Elizabeth. I love her so much. One of my favorite newborn photos of Tess is her and Elizabeth but now I'm very careful not to let Tess love Elizabeth too much if she's sick or holding food because I don't think Elizabeth could survive one more ride in the washing machine.
DH's train has an hour delay so he won't be home until 11 but T will be so happy to see him tomorrow morning. I can't wait for morning family snuggles!!
@martyn17 next time you need a dryer, check out LG with steam sanitize option. It's awesome. There is a tray you can put in the dryer and you can put anything that can withstand steam on it - perfect for baby toys, and nothing is getting bumped around because the tray is stationary.
@maryannespier I almost cried when I stuffed puffy in the box. She's going to send me the remains, though, so if we have #2, I can make a bear for him, too. And I can't wait to see my bear!
Plus, my parents bought me a Stunt Double Puffy for Easter one year. So, Ben loves on that one, too.

@martyn17 adorable picture of LO & your bear & @MRads such a sweet idea! You all are pulling at my heart strings.
I recently showed Addie my bear from childhood, Bear Bear. I think she was scared because his eyes are all scratched. My pedi diagnosed him with cataracts when I was little.
@Silv3rlining yay! We can hang out again and I'll get to meet your new little!
I FINALLY finished my photo book today. After pampers codes and a site wide code, I only paid shipping so not too shabby.
DD is being so much more clingy and wanting attention lately it's hard to get stuff done. For a brief 30 minutes I watched 6 kids with my sister yesterday. The hard part? Screaming 4 month old and jealous toddler in my arms... Screaming 2 year old and 8 month old in my sisters arms... 4 crying babies at once is no fun...
More whining: I feel like when I don't have a cold, there is a box of tissues on every end table, dresser, and bathroom counter, and then when I do, there are literally zero anywhere. [-(
Shopping help? I think I'm going to buy this bag for my sister. She needs a big bag for work, and suggested I look at Urban. This looks like the best one in my budget. I can't decide on the color combo. I like:
honey
grey/purple
coral/brown
emerald/brown
Its reversible, so it could be brown on the outside and emerald inside.
Any opinions/suggestions/thoughts?

I love the first one (it's purple and brow-ish) but the colour description just says "purple". Second favourite is the emerald/brown. Can't really go wrong with any of them - they're all nice @martyn17
I would say maybe not the coral/brown because that coral colour is very "summer", and it might spend most of the year as the inside of a bag, which is not what you want for a light colour. It's going to get makeup and ink on it.

Thank you for pointing out that the purple had a different reversible color.... its now definitely in the running. And honey is out.

Does anyone watch Masterchef junior? Those kids are freaking amazing. But some of them are way too young to be under that kind of pressure, it can get hard to watch.
Also, Puffy is an awesome name for a bear. Puff. Puff Daddy. Puffy Paint, etc. etc.
Bingo (my bear) is still intact, despite having been tormented by my older brother and once taken hostage by my college roommate. He's one of about 3 bears Sebastian sleeps with nightly.

DH and I watch it. We're a couple episodes behind though. Those kids are soooooo good. I always feel so bad when they start to cry.

I'm not that surprised. It's cold, we have an old house, and we have crumbs on the floor despite our best efforts to keep up. We couldn't find the snap traps we had from the last time we had a mouse 2-3 years ago.
Just before I came up to bed, DH saw it again. In minutes, he was down on his hands and knees observing and ready to pounce. Or try to sweep it into something or something. I dunno. I just didn't want to be there watching for fear that it was about to come careening towards me and run up my pants leg.
Then (while washing my face), I heard the back door open and slam.
He better not get rabies trying to rid our house of vermin with his bare hands.
@missymr it was actually super cheap to fix because we're noobs and it wasn't even broken. It's a CV kettle and the pressure was low because we had to fill the system every X months. This is our first winter in our new house so we had no idea LOL now we know...
