Coffee companies really need to mark decaf bags better!! Like, write 'Decaf' in an obvious spot using gigantic red font. I was waiting for a pot to brew this morning and happened to be staring at the bag when I noticed that on the very bottom in small letters it said Decaf. X( At least I only used one spoonful of it because I had most of what I needed from a bag we had finished.
This is not helping me with MIL's call this morning saying her & FIL changed their minds and want to come stay with us for a few days over Christmas. Noooo! Can I get a redo of this morning?
DH ended up taking his PTO today because at a meeting yesterday they told them January and February are super busy and it would be difficult to get time off. So he decided to use it up.
So he is spending the day with Zoe. I'm glad. Since we've moved I feel like he rarely sees her. He works til 9 on weekdays and weekends he spends a lot of time cutting wood and other house things.

This really belongs in yesterday's spam, but just now I was reading back through a draft of a chapter I haven't looked at in several months and found a sentence where I had waxed poetic and said the narrative "spirals like an unanchored spirograph."
I'm leaving it. It's very likely the finest sentence in my whole dissertation.

@byjove03 They're not made up, they're neologisms. Sounds much more intellectualish.
So far two of my key terms are completely my own invention, and I made up another word in my introduction that takes a french term from the 19th century that has made its way into English and turned it into a tech-y version for the 21st century. So not only do I have made-up words, I have made-up words from two languages.
I'm probably going to get an A++.

My day just got much better. After the mix up last week with my blood work, my OB's office put a rush on my Maternity21 test. They just called me with the results and baby is genetically healthy!!
@Spartanmomma you are going to be my neighbor!!! @Altima80 's too.
Maybe we can start our own faction-KS STYLE. PM me if you want any info on the area I'm a Lyfer here:). You will love it!
And hopefully mine too, sooner or later. Unless I become a Chibumpie instead....
I will never live on the KS side though. NEVAAAAAARRRRR!

We leave tomorrow for Overland Park, Kansas to look at homes there and in the nearby Missouri area. I can't believe we move in a month! I'm excited to look at houses, but anxious about the whole process. We need to get our current house sold, but I think it's overpriced. DH disagrees. A couple is coming for a second look this weekend, and I want to drop the house $18,000 just to get them to buy it I would do horrible in sales.
@spartanmomma Yay for another Kansas folk! As @citrusfamily said, we'll be neighbors! I live in Olathe but work in Overland Park. I love it here. Great place to race a family in my opinion. Why are you moving here? (Sorry if I missed that.) Let me know if you have any questions about the area! ;-)

Busy day today but I am on a conference call so I have a moment. Funny aspect of the call so far, one of the guys said libary instead of library. I always laugh at that. Such a nerd I am.
Yay for sleeping and recovering babies. Although I don't like to hear about new sickies. Hope everyone's day is a good one.
Question for those considering potty training - do your LO's independently pull pants up and down?
Addie takes her own shirt off before bath if I get her arms out of her sleeves. I've been trying to work on her pulling her pants down, but she's not interested.
J is the same. He loves to take his shirt off once I get the arms out, and he can take off his own socks. He seems to know what to do to pull his pants down but he has trouble gripping the waistband. But once his pants are off he then tries to take off his diaper the same way.
He has shown zero interest in or signs of potty training. Even his main daycare teacher acknowledged he is "not body aware" yet.
So we're not going down that road yet.
Same here! Addie doesn't try to take off her diaper ever. Probably because we use cloth and snaps, but no interest in pulling off pants either. I'm in no hurry to PT.
DH did not get the WAH position he interviewed for (they told him he interviewed very well but gave it to someone who had experience in that particular department, which he does not have), and he was getting really discouraged about his job and things in general.
But the hiring manager just asked him to put in for a similar job they are going to post tomorrow. I'm thinking this is a very good sign....
This would seriously be huge for us. It would be a raise, potentially unconventional hours that would mean we would require fewer hours and/or days of childcare, and his job could move with us so we wouldn't have to worry about that if I find a job elsewhere. And it is within the same company he already works for, so no issues or headaches with switching L's insurance.

Elizabeth just came up to me with her gymnastics leotard and asked to put it on. I've also put her headband on at least five times in the last half hour.
I'm curious if she is already identifying with girl things, or if a boy (that would in the future identify as a boy) would play with the sparkly leotard and flowered headband if he had them available. Anyone have insight? It's interesting how she has her own little mind and desires.

@redrocksmama Congrats! Did you have to request that test or did they just do it?
Thank you @kikicohen! My dr's office does the Maternity21 test for anyone who has a family history of genetic abnormalities or is considered advanced maternal age. I will be 35 when the baby is born so I'm considered advanced maternal age, aka old. They don't do it for anyone outside of that criteria, so I didn't have it when I was pregnant with Jackson. Determining the sex is a standard part of that test, it's not something you have to ask for. If you don't want to know the sex, the doctor won't tell you. I wanted to know!

@KikiCohen Our go to amount for weddings and showers is $50 (unless we are very close to them and we will spend more), and for everyone's birthday we usually spend about $20. I think $50 would be a good amount if that is in your budget. With that said, I know when I graduated, I was thankful for any amount of $
I found a recipe for bourbon chocolate chip cookies and started making them then realized I only had peanut butter chips. So I used those instead. They came out ok but needed something. So I bought the ingredients to make a bourbon chocolate ganache and dipped the cookies in it then stuck them in the fridge for the ganache to harden. They are =P~ . I created something far superior to the original recipe, if I may say so myself.
Obviously you're going to put your improved recipe in the cookie thread.

@biggunsbo I have no interest in smelling my husbands poo. And I don't think he should have to smell mine. Air fresheners leave you feeling like somebody had a huge shit and tried to make it smell like apples and cinnamon or flowers. Poo-pouri does a much nicer job of masking the stank, and it's mostly ESSENTIAL OILS. My boobs may be saggy, my belly flabby, my skin nasty, but my shit does not stink. Ugh, we went to open gym this morning and there was a little boy there about Silas's age, maybe a little older, who was NOT having a good time. The woman he was there with also had a baby with her but this poor kid was just standing at the edge of the room crying and the woman was just ignoring him and occasionally just telling him "you're fine."
He clearly just wanted to be picked up and comforted and she refused. Several other ladies were coming up to him and trying to console him and looking for his adult, and only then would she come over to him. He didn't want to play and was clearly miserable and kept reaching for her. At one point she grabbed his outstretched hands and wiggled him and told him to "shake it off". My heart was breaking for that poor little dude, would it have killed her to give him a hug?? Even worse (I think?) I overheard her telling another woman he wasn't her kid. I would lose my shit if I saw my child's "caretaker" treating my kid like that.
