Baby bump already showing... Too soon?

while washing my hands in the bathroom after lunch today, I caught a side view of myself when I went to grab a napkin. My eyes almost popped out of its socket! I'm showing like crazy and I don't think I should be this much at 14 weeks! I've only gained 1 pound during my pregnancy! I have an appointment next week and I WILL let the doc known I'm concerned but man.... Is this normal? image

Re: Baby bump already showing... Too soon?

  • Don't worry! I'm 12 weeks and about that already! Also have only gained a pound or so. Baby just wants his/her presence known :-)

  • I'm not sure... I have popped out big time, but this is my second, and I've heard that's what happens second time around. Some people pop at different times, though, and 14 weeks seems OK for a bump.

  • Im starting to pop too!

  • I think its different for every woman. And I know from experience that women who've had multiple pregnancies tend to show a little sooner than first time moms.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I'm on my 2nd kid and my belly is out and my pants are struggling to close
  • I'm almost 14 weeks and still find some days look bigger than others (thanks bloat). I've been looking back at my weekly photos with DS, and around 14 weeks I'm starting to look so much bigger, then at 16 weeks look completely different again! (It starts to stick around after my 17 week pictures)
  • I'm not sure why you are so concerned... You should be excited! This is your second trimester of course you will be showing!

I grew so quickly as it is my second. Mentioned it to my OB at 11wks and he said it was likely just constipation. He burst my bubble!
  • It depends how you start. I had a flat belly before getting pregnant - I haven't been able to exercise as much and haven't been dieting - so I've gained about 5 lbs (I'm not quite 12 weeks) -- I have moments where I look huge and others where I still fit comfortably in my skinny jeans. It's just the way the body works! If you're 14 weeks I wouldn't worry. I'm still in the closet about my pregnancy so I just keep getting offers to go to the gym :)
  • I'm about 11 weeks and still have a flat stomach... This is also my second baby. Everyone is different...
  • I'm showing a lot too. I'm a FTM and I asked my midwife just because my dad asked me if I was 5 months because my belly is big. She said it's normal and that my uterus was large but again all normal. I did ask her when she did the heart Doppler I asked if there was just one heartbeat. She laughed and said we will find out at my 20 week. Enjoy the bump. I have started wearing clothes to show it off. It's only for a short time and I'm embracing it.
  • I'm not tall and normally quite petite. This is my second baby... I'm definitely looking pregnant!

I'm the same way! I'm showing my clothes aren't fitting it really stinks!! The rubber band thing works so well! I only 2 pounds! I thought I gained more!
  • Im totally jealous of all you who have only gained 1-5lbs so far! Ive gained at least 15....in 15 weeks! It really does not help that eating is the only thing that keeps me from throwing up :/ oh well........
This totally bummed me out last pregnancy, as I gained a ton of weight and everyone else seemed to be gaining barely anything.  Maybe we just don't comment on it as much? ;)

I've gained less this time around, but even with going to the gym daily and a pretty healthy diet I'm up 8 lbs.

  • I'm starting to show and I'll be 14wks on Thursday, this is my first. I think a lot of it might be bloat though...
  • My belly is starting to round out. I am 15 weeks and have gained about 8lbs. I gained a ton last pregnancy and did end up losing it all, so I'm just figuring this is how my body works.

  • I've actually lost weight from morning sickness but my jeans are too tight. I definitely have a bit of a pot belly. Thank God for bella bands!
  • Giving me hope that I can lose it after the baby :) im pretty sure thanksgiving was a bit to blame as well. All I want to do is work out but I work 11 hours a day and by the time I get home I just lay down. Humph.
  • I'm 15 weeks and I feel like my belly is showing too! But I haven't gained a pound because of my morning [more like 24 hour] sickness !!! But like previous posts ... Just embrace it ! Better than just feeling chubby without a baby bump lol
  • @sensitivesally‌ @Cuij‌ hey ladies! I'm only concerned because I feel like I'm growing too fast. At my last appointment, the ultrasound lady put me a week further than I originally am due to the measurements. The age she gave me is impossible because I was seeing a fertility dr and we know exactly when we conceived. Also, I was told that if you grow fast, there is a higher risk of gestational diabetes. I love the bump and I'm excited to actually be showing... I'm just concerned that I'm growing to quick...
  • I am currently 13 weeks! I can definately tell a change in my body. I've gained 14 lbs :(( but I did use to gym daily and eat fairly heathy. Now I sleep at least 10 hours and eat whatever i want ~O)
  • My dad has started calling me "chub-chub". This is his own curious brand of affectionate, very silly teasing. It comes along with all manner of goofy accompaniments. I don't think I'm all that big yet, but I did make a comment about rounding out and he latched right onto it. :P

  • I have totally embraced maternity wear. My normal clothes - trousers especially - we're just getting too uncomfortable. Was hoping to hold our telling work until the new year but given how quickly I'm starting to show / how much blump I've had don't know if I'd make it...Have horrible feeling that work'll be like "Yeh of course you are" rather than appropriately surprised when I tell them!
  • I'm almost 14w with twins and I'm also a FTM and have already had to buy some maternity clothes. I have gained about 5 lbs but that mid section is totally starting to pop out! I thought it was way too early to show too since my friend is 6 months pregnant and just starting to show. Everyone and their bodies are different, embrace it

    Loving this thread.

So I thought I had a bump, but it's depending on how much fucking gas I have, apparently.

I also gained 12+ lbs due to radical diet change (eating carbs often and vigorously, protein and veggie aversion weeks 4-8) and being told not to exercise from weeks 2-8 for to IVF.

What a bummer I can't shed a little bit of extra weight while pregnant, because NO DIETING ALLOWED DURING PREGNANCY! And I'm just not about to do 2 hours at the fm every day, I'll get back in shape after the delivery and breastfeeding. I even heard the weight you gain during the first trimester is your body adjusting to form a cushion for breastfeeding calories to burn.

Enjoy, embrace, be thankful for the bump!! We are truly blessed. At 13.3 weeks, my skinny frame is a distant memory, I'm embracing this new big boob, cushier figure.

I gotta stop posting epics in the weight/ body threads. Sorry ladies. I have issues X_X
  • Measuring a week or so ahead is not cause for concern. Baby could have had a growth spurt and you will most likely even out throughout your pregnancy.

  • I feel quite large. My OB told me it was only a teeny bit uterus and more organs shifting and constipation. It's definitely rounded!

My belly doesn't look cutely round to me yet, but my pants are definitely uncomfortable painful to button this week. I'm trying really hard to wait until after Christmas to buy maternity clothes, but I'm not sure I'm going to make it.
This. I'm going shopping today for some more forgiving pants, but not going full-on maternity wear just yet. I've only gained ~3-5lbs so far, but things are rounder and shifting around. I think my ab muscles have melted...

  • I am quite small in height and build but I don't think I've gained too much weight,I was 48.4kg at my last weigh in but I get paranoid I have gained a lot of weight because I'm a recovered anorexic of two years. Then some days I look and think it's just my belly that is growing out, and I like it it's defo a little round at the bottom, a small bump. Other days I want to cry because I have no control over it if I do gain weight and I think I'm fat as opposed to 'it's just baby growing' I can deal with my small bump I just try not to think about it and embrace it, I can't however deal with my partners sister commenting on how fat I'm getting and how I'm going to be a whale.. That brings back those bad thoughts that almost killed me two years ago, it's tough.

  • I'm 11+4 and I've lost 10pounds but I'm that bloated I feel like a balloon! My trousers are already too tight! Had to wear an elastic band around my button for work, it's so embarrassing because it's not even baby, just farts :))
  • I still haven't gained any weight in the past, like, 3 weeks and my tumtum is definitely looking a little poofier. I'll take it though! But is it bad that I'm not gaining any weight yet?? I don't have morning sickness, and I'm definitely eating enough...

  • DH and I just had this conversation the day before yesterday. Like @jimbobcooter the top seems to be all my organs and bloat getting pushed out of the way, but my ute just about meets it now, so it's starting to look pretty bumpish.

This morning when I got dressed (before I ate) there wasn't much of anything up high, but the bottom bump area was super noticeable. It may be about time for us to start HDBD!

  • I didn't start to show until 20 weeks or so with my first. I'm 14 weeks now and feel like I'm showing even though I'm down three pounds. I'm so glad my work environment is casual. Jackets and sweatshirts are awesome right now!

I'm pretty sure this is what mine is. I wake up looking relatively normal and able to do up my pants but after a bottle of water things go downhill and after lunch (or dinner or snacks lol) my stomach looks huge and is hard - but it's all huge up top (by my ribs) so I know it's not baby.

DH and I are trying to hold out until Christmas to tell our families (although his father keeps making little comments that make me think they suspect...) and my mother's families Christmas is on the 20th...DH took one look at my belly and said  "you are going to have to be creative with what you wear that day because it is SUPER obvious".

My doctor told me that measurements can be off by up to a week depending on a variety of things such as your hydration and baby's position. How quickly your bump grows can also be affected by placement of the placenta and genetics. Try not to worry too much about how big your bump is in terms of diabetes... Worry about how big the rest of you gets! Eat healthy and don't overindulge and you should be fine! Try not to worry xo

  • 15 weeks today and people tell me i've started showing.
Not wearing maternity clothes because it's not really necessary. I'm still wearing my work pants just not buttoning them and have the zipper half way. Lots of long tops and leggings! Gained 3 lbs since my pregnancy.

  • I've only gained 1 lb, but I am definitely noticing my stomach starting to pop, and I'm 12 wks 4 days. I don't think strangers would think I'm pregnant, I just look like I carry weight in my stomach.  After I eat though.. man I look like I'm about 5 months pregnant :) haha
