Make-up during delivery

DH and I were just discussing photos of our first time meeting our Son and having my Mom snap pics right after he's delivered. Then I got to thinking.. Will I want to wear makeup during delivery? Of course I'll take photos either way, but.. What are you ladies thinking? Does the makeup come off before the pushing starts or do you get some waterproof mascara and push on?!

  • I think we may laugh about it now, but I'm curious if I'm the only crazed human thinking about this?! The nursery is mainly done so apparently I have to find new things to obsess over.. Someone slap me!
  • The morning my water broke make up was the last thing on my mind. I showered, did my hair so it was out of my face, and packed my bag. I'm getting birth pictures this time, but again make up will not even be on the radar.
  • I WISH I'd put more effort into looking nice before I went to the hospital. I went into the day feeling like hair and makeup should be the last things on my mind, but as the day went on I really wished I'd put in some effort. It was a long day and lots of people were in and out, and to top it all off I felt like a slob. Also my IV fluids made my face puffy and now I HATE looking back at my delivery pictures. I look like I've been camping or something.

This time around it will be hair and makeup and cute matching pjs all the way!

  • With DS, I took a shower that morning and went to my 40wk appt.  We admitted to hospital around 5:30pm and he arrived around 11pm.  So I was technically still wearing makeup from that morning, but didn't think to reapply lipstick while my uterus was violently contracting to push the baby down the birth canal.

    I did re-apply chapstick often.

  • I plan to do my hair and by that I mean straighten it. We'll see how that goes though after all of the sweating and possibly sitting in the bath or shower during labor. I will probably say no pictures (of me) until I've cleaned up after delivery.

  • Even though I wear make up daily if I'm going to to be out and and about. I'm almost always more comfortable without it. I like being able to touch my face and rub my eyes without worrying about smearing something. I will probably just have my hair up in a messy bun because that's more comfortable for me to plus it keeps it out of my face. Pictures be damned, I will have just given birth. I kind just expect and accept that I'm going to look awful.

  • I was thinking of packing some basic makeup in my delivery bag, that way after baby is born and it's my turn to shower and clean up, I have the choice of sprucing up a bit. I will also have it on hand for when visitors come.

  • Right now I'll say I definitely want some form of makeup on, little concealer and waterproof mascara but who knows on d day if I'll have patience and energy to even think about that. I hope I do! But time will tell :)
  • Make up will be the last thing on my mind once contractions start.

  • I'm having a scheduled c-section, I'll do my hair (freshly washed and flat ironed) and maybe mascara but I'm not going to put on make up. They would probably just make me take it off.

  • I definitely want my eyebrows filled in. I don't need foundation. My eyebrows are important to me, I'm known for them always being on point. I'll def want something on my lips. I thought about pampering myself and getting some nice natural looking eyelash extensions to enhance a more bare makeup look the week Im due if I have the time.
  • I'm not planning on having any pictures of me taken. Maybe I'll regret it, but I've never been a fan of posing for cameras.

  • I'll admit I'm a complete slob, I'm very used to going out without make up. So I'm very certain I'd just be without make up when I go to the hospital!

@erikadior, I feel the same way about my eyebrows!!!! I've never met anyone else who understands the importance of thick eyebrows! I don't feel human if I haven't filled them in :):)
  • SS for me too, i dont ever wear makeup juat like @lizjennings81‌

  • I was induced with DD and I was more concerned with showering and shaving my legs before we went to the hospital. I did put mascara on before we left. I only took mascara and Chapstick with me to the hospital as far as makeup is concerned. I didn't really want to deal with the rest. The mascara was enough for me.
  • My hair will be up and out of the way. I'll have pictures of us after I get a shower and put mascara and lipgloss on. Rather make sure areas below are shaved than feel like a hairy beast on Labor Day.
  • I plan on showering, straightening hair & throwing on my make up before hospital. I feel lost and blah wout my eyeliner. I want to feel somewhat like myself not knowing what to expect!
  • I'm going to have my sister do my make up if Im not sweating or screaming. Besides I love wearing make up.
  • i wear pretty light makeup day to day that takes about 5 minutes to put on.  I'll probably do my basic, or already have it on.

Contacts though....if you go into Labor over night would you put in your contacts? I am pretty bind and wear them everday so thats something I think I would take the time for, especially because I hate excersizing with glasses on.   If you end up with a c section to they have to take them out? I glasses will be in hospital bag just in case.
  • My real concern is my hair. It takes forever to flat iron and if I leave it curly it will turn wild by the end of this process. Good thing I have 8 million cosmetologists on speed dial, who is gonna come give me a blow out at the hospital?!

  • With DD I went to work that am, water broke, went to dinner with the family and than the hospital later that night. So still has some make up lingering.

Though I'm with who ever said I'm more concerned about having my legs shaved

  • SS: I don't wear make-up ever but I will put on an outfit that is comfortable, practical and pretty after a nice warm shower, washing my hair and finding a nice way to wear it comfortably. I will be taking 30 mins of me time before I head to the hospital again this time, just like last time.

  • I'm having a scheduled c-section, so I'll probably do my normal "get ready" routine that morning before we go in, with a bit less effort on the eyeshadow and whatnot bc that doesn't really matter!! But I do hope to keep some kind of foundation/concealer on this time, I get really bad acne when I'm pregnant and I look just awful in the photos right after Evie was born with no makeup. Call me vain, but you don't have my skin so you don't know my lyfe. ;)

  • If I happen to have makeup on when I go into labor, so be it. If not? I really don't care.
