FWIW, I love, love, LOVE Lydia!
Thanks @KatyInNH‌! I would say it's probably the front runner! We aren't telling friends/family until she's born, so the feedback here is much appreciated!

Harper Leigh is our little girl. My mom's nickname is Lee (polish name Lidia is pronounced Lee-dia) and its DH's middle name, so we went for a feminine spelling and boom! Naming done!
Beautiful name. Also, Harper Lee is the author of To Kill A Mockingbird, my favorite novel, so I extra approve!
    Scout Finch (obviously) approves.
It's like an added bonus for this name.. my DH didn't reach much growing up (such a pitty) so he's not familiar with the book. I absolutely love it and am thrilled we've agreed on this name AND it has family relevance. :)

I'm absolutely in love with your name choice - great history there. And the name Harper is just so cool for a girl. I'd use it too if we ever have a girl, but I know two baby Harpers already.
  • CanadianMilitaryMommy Freya is definitely top on my list of future girl names. Freya Noel I think.
  • I know that it is a legitimate name still doesn't mean you don't hear the word gunner when you hear it. I just don't think Caliber would be the only name that could be a trigger to someone.
"Trigger to someone". Gun reference. Get it? ;) LOL actually I totally agree with @redneckmomma25. While it's not a traditional name, and I don't think I'd use it personally (I just don't see a name when I read it), I don't see it being a big problem. But I'm probably a little biased since my family culture is pretty pro-gun/hunting, all that stuff. In fact, I'm not mentioning this name to H since he might like it too much!
  • Gunnar.

The baby names board had a field day with it, but IDGAF.

Some of the regs on there seem to like some pretty awful names IMO. I side-eye some of the names they rave about and throw out there. I kinda like Gunnar.

Our front runners are Ethan Joseph (EJ) or Connor Joseph (CJ). I am tired of people asking why he isn't Joseph Edward Jr ( which is H's name). H was named after his father, a man he hasn't seen since he was two when he tried to kidnap him.... So he doesn't want our son associated with that name.

We're having so much trouble picking out a girl's name! We already had a boy's name decided and of course found out we're having a girl! The only name H has said he likes is Lydia, which I like too, but for some reason I'm not totally sold on it. We've also talked about Anna or Leanna, but neither of us are in love with anything. #-o

I love the name Lydia for a girl. I think it is a great option :)
  • We still need to discuss but we've liked Serena for a really long time. I personally really like Merida (yes like the disney princess, i have some deep rooted scottish ancestry) but i don't know if the hubs will go for that. Hahaha.

We call the baby invader zim for now and she is my little alien. Hopefully after further discussion I'll be able to add to the convo again with a real answer.

This is not this first time I have thought this but I just want to say "DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS?!"

I LOVE Merida!!!!! My Husband wouldn't go for it, so I'm keeping all my FX that your H will love it!!!!
  • Ok- we had our A/S today and confirmed from our elective 16w4d that she is in fact a girl! Joslyn Marie is her name. :-) We'll call her Joslyn, Jo, and Josie. We have a Rosetta Dae and we call her Rosetta, Ro, and Rosie.
  • Baby boy will be Maxwell Brode (rhymes with road). Both are family names but Brode goes back many many generations.

I love the names everyone has picked out!
  • @Tyrion‌ I like Rory very much!

My husband felt we were having a boy for the longest time .. We planned to name the baby after both of our parents who past away . Elliott Blake . Well , we found out we are on team pink and it just do happens my family name ( Elliott ) is still a favorite of my husbands .. So I agreed if I could find a feminine spelling that we could use it .. So her first name will be Elliette ..middle name yet to be decided :)

  • We're team green for baby #3. DH is always reluctant to discuss names, so we haven't for this baby yet. I am thinking Melissa Ann for a girl or Wyatt Howard for a boy.
  • Me and my partner find out the sex to our baby next week, but we've decided on Finnley Craig Paul for a boy and Isobel Marina Anna for a girl. :x
  • We have a baby girl on the way (scream!:):)) and we have two names we love for firsts. Molly is the name of my DH's sister who passed away when she was 7 (he was 13) in a tragic family car accident. I would be honoured to name our child after her and see her name carried on in our sweet girl. That said, we love the idea of giving our girl her own original first name of Guinevere...a bit different, not for everyone, but we both love it. We thought of using Molly as a middle and giving her her own first name but my DH feels as though Molly doesn't make a good middle name. Haven't figured this one out yet but I am personally leaning towards Molly as a first..it means a lot to me and even though my DH isn't wanting to pressure me either way, I think he feels the same. Either way, probably Eeowyn as her middle name although haven't agreed there either lol yikes! Time is flying!!
  • We have had a hard time with baby boy names but have narrowed it down (unless we change it) to Tucker William or Brayden William, william is a family name it's my H middle name
  • We have decided to name our baby boy Crew.. The past two times I've told ppl they thought I said Grew and True.... Should be concerned this will a life long problem for sweet or are just hard of hearing?!
  • My husband will pronounce it Elliott I'm sure but the spelling and correct pronunciation from me ;) will be Ellie - et . And I'm not against using Blake as a middle name either :) I love it . I'm just waiting to see what my other half feels about using Blake . Personally I'm falling in love with the name everyday :)

I voted yes, even though we don't find out what we're having until next week.

Boy name is definitely done: Read Patrick

Girl name in MY mind is totally done but DH is still waffling on it (I'm not worried, he will come around ;)):  Brynne Christine

Read was my boy choice, although we were going to spell it Reid. And Brynne was on my list too! Great choices.

I'm glad you found a name you really love. This isn't the first time I've heard Crew, and the name kind of puzzles me to be honest. A crew is a group, so it's like naming one's kid "Team" or "Guys" to me.

One of my friends named their baby Crew.  It's not the easiest name, but they love it, and it definitely fits him.  If you love it, use it!

  • Thank you. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with a gun. Look up the name.

We're pretty sure we want Caliber. Caliber John? Taking after dad and grandpa. We want something that flows, nothing choppy.

@crichter18, This name is so, so bad for more reasons than it just sounds awful. What if your kid doesn't end up liking guns? What if he tries to get hired somewhere someday and the person in charge is anti-gun or lost someone they loved to a tragic shotgun accident? Whether we like it or not, people judge others by their names sometimes, and you are doing your kid a world of disservice by giving them such a polarizing name. But, judging from your "pregnancy is..." Post, you don't think of anyone's needs or feelings but your own.

Ha. Please, do yourself a favor and look up the name. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with a fucking gun. Whoopie it's a part on a gun, doesn't mean anything. You're ignorant. But you always will be because of one post that I deleted. Move along now.
  • We decided on Layla Rae. Finally!
  • @nutrishus‌ I love the feminine spelling of Elliette! It's very feminine and dainty!
  • @crichter18‌ I would personally go with John Caliber because to me it sounds stronger that way. I like strong names for males.
  • Since we're all talking a out guns...

Our name for this little girl is Keleah (kah-lee-uh). It means bullet in Hebrew. I like that it sounds very pretty and feminine yet packs a punch in its meaning. The pronunciation is close enough to Kalia (kah Lee uh), which means desert flower. So, if she doesn't like the meaning behind her name, she can choose to say it means the latter.

We are still working on a mn. Suggestions?

I like the name. I would pick something very feminine like Rose, Ruby, Penelope, Elizabeth, as a middle name.

No offense but this spelling reminds me of Gillette...you know...the razors.

If by feminine you mean made-up and misspelled.
Technically every name is "made-up" but if it's "made-up, misspelled" it's still a pretty name!

Also, @sammyben aka WK lovetitter, pull your shirt down. No one here wants to see that.

Then don't look? Also I'm sure most the people on here have a pregnant belly if they don't want to see it then they don't need to take the time to stop and look at my picture! I think being pregnant is beautiful and the belly that comes with it! If you dont then don't look, simple! It's not like the picture is huge, it's hard to miss if you don't actually concentrate on it. You just wasted time out of your short life telling me to change the picture because I'm not going to!

If you're set on Elliot as a girl's name, please at least spell it normally.
I've only ever seen this as a girl's name once, and it was spelled Eliot.

Although it's not something I'd name my child, I think it's a cute name for a girl but I don't like it spelled Elliette. Just my two cents.
