Final Name Decision?

Re: Final Name Decision?

  • Nowww it makes sense, I was slightly lost. But yes, now that you put it that way, they have the "sin" and "stin" sound at the end. I guess I just don't typically enunciate the "sOn" sound when saying names that end in "son".

  • We have top contenders. Mila Celeste or Norah Elise/Elyse (don't know the proper spelling) for a girl and Lucas Grey for a boy. We also really really really want Eden for a boy but I'm worried about it being too feminine. It can be pronounced E-den or ED-en to make it a little more masculine. It seems to be a popular UK name for males. We also like Silas and Micah

  • We are having twins and we are team green... So we have to have a list of names. :) We will decide for sure when they get here, but front runners are Rhett Wilbanks and Oakley Edward for boys and Amelia Jane and Maisie Louise for girls. I still have a guilty pleasure name of Maibree Louise, but I don't think we will be using it.

  • There are some great names on this thread! We only have a girl name picked out so if they tell us next week at our A/S that baby is not a girl after all, we have problems haha! I love the name Jaxson for a boy but my BF doesn't like it at all. We were told at 14 weeks baby is a girl, but I'm too skeptical because it was so early so if it is confirmed next week then she will be name McKenna Rae Lynn. My oldest has two middle names, as do I, so I'm glad bf agreed to it! Rae is a family name for him and Lynn is my mom's MN so it works out!!

We picked out girls names no problem but couldn't agree on any boys, of course we're having a boy lol I'm in love with the name Bentley but dh said it sounds.like a stripper name. I keep calling the.little dude "baby Bentley" in hopes it will grow on dh but so far it doesn't seem likely

Just reminds me of the car.

First name is very likely to be Oliver. Front runner is still Oliver Grant. But middle name is still up in the air.

Other middle name option on the list are Rowan, Graham, Harrison (just appeasing my hubby with keeping this one on the list). There are some others I'm forgetting.

I love Oliver!! 3 years ago I helped my mom name her dog & Oliver won out. (Ollie). I obviously wish I could take his name back. My DH also named his youngest brother Alexander. It's one of my all time favorite male names. I asked DH if Alex was super attached to his name after 18 years.....we were obviously struggling for boy names :)

I think it sounds like an educated and sophisticated name... opposite of a stripper name lol.

George means farmer. How about picking out another name that also means farmer to still honor him?

    Franklin
    Rider
    Barric
    Kelby
    Bolton

All those mean farm or farmer :)

I know a spunky little boy named Abel! Awesome choice!!

Ugh I've had a girl name set for years because I'm a crazy person but H wanted an Italian name for a boy. He wants Vincent which is fine but Vinny! With the Philly accent around here! *cringe*

Does he realize how difficult it is to find an Italian boy name that isn't as common as Anthony but isn't as ridiculous as Guido?! His dad's name is Giuseppe! Sorry all the Lorenzo's and Mario's and Giuseppe's of the world, but no thank you! Not for me. Too much like a pizza place or the cast of jersey shore.

DH suggested Monfredo for us. I told him he's not allowed to play anymore.

My hubby's suggestion was Oscar.....our last name is a color it would make me think of seasame street. It's a family name *sigh*

  • Alec ronin will be our sons. He is our third and we have a cari (pronounced car-e) Louann and a Dennis ward
  • Gunnar.

The baby names board had a field day with it, but IDGAF.

I really like Gunnar. Coming from a military family where my dad was a gunner on an M1A1, I wish I could use this name but it doesn't go with our last name.

I dislike last names that limit first names :) all the first names I LOVE don't go with our last name.

My guy is still a bit heartbroken the baby is a girl so no idea when talking about names will even appeal to him :-( but, if he can't get over it I'm naming the baby Olivia & he can give her a boys MN

    Heartbroken?!  :-q

    ugh

The girl's name we had picked out was Stella James. James is my husband & FIL's & DH's grandpa's first name. We are having a boy.

  • We still can't decide...DH loves Gunnar Riley, but then expressed that he would like him to have the same initials as him which are JMJ. So we thought about Jude Maddox or Jace Maxwell. (or vise versa)
  • Gunnar.

The baby names board had a field day with it, but IDGAF.

This exactly!! I asked opinions on a few names Gunnar/Gunner being one of them and got a few not so lovely opinions. I appreciated them all, but it won't change my mind on liking the name.
  • Middle name will definitely be Robert, same as DH. We are narrowed down to 3 fn: Abram (Abe), Charles (Charlie), or Wesley (Wes).
  • We're planning on Ford Virgil for our little guy. Virgil is my FIL's middle name and Ford is one that we just both really like.

So you guys are the first I am telling, so HUSH! lol.. We finally settled on Isaac Alexander. We love the meaning of Isaac (joy, laughter) and Alexander has been a family name. We considered Lucca and Hudson as well, but at the end we stayed with Isaac.

My DS is Luca Alexander :)

We are having a girl. Her name is Laney Beth. No meaning behind it - we just like the name and it's done. I prefer non-nicknamable names and to call the kid by their actual legal first name. This stems from me being called by my middle name for my entire life (thanks mom and dad!) and having to correct the teacher on the first day of school every single year. I'd rather not put my kids through that whether it's just a nickname or being called by their middle names.

I call my DD Laney, but I went with the formal name of Elena for her.

I am not personally a fan of the Gunner spelling. Gunnar is Scandinavian and very old. It means Warrior in Old Norse.
I don't think they are pronounced the same either. Correct me if I'm wrong? @scoutfinch13

Well, in the US they are. Gunnar is correctly pronounced "Gewnar" everywhere else.
I see. I pronounce it Gewnar vs Gunner.

  • If we have a boy he will be Charles which is my husband's middle name and was his grandpa's name. I have always liked the name Charlie so that worked out well.

If we have a girl we have no idea. Naming our daughter was easy but my husband already vetoed a lot of the girl names on my list. We haven't really discussed girl names too much. We decided to wait until we find out what we are having to see if we even need to discuss a girl name. My anatomy scan is a week from today.

I love love love Charlie for a girl!!

And this is why out of the three names we're deciding between, I hesitate on Charlie the most. I'm worried he'll be the only boy Charlie amongst a sea of girl Charlies.

Charles/Charlie means free man, so I would use it for your boy.

I'm not a fan of Charlie for a girl. My mother in law suggested that when I was pregnant with our daughter. We already had a girl name picked out anyway. This is definitely our last though and I was thinking Charlotte is a nice name. Although I don't know if I would like it if people called her Charlie.

I like Nico as an Italian boy name!

We have it narrowed down to Ronan or Henry, but we will wait to make a final decision in delivery. We continue to call the baby Adergoole around my family to cause panic. It's hilarious.

I'm on my way to work and keep hysterically laughing to myself picturing your family's reaction to "Adergoole"

What a surprisingly pleasant work commute. I must find a name to scare them all with now.
DO IT! You have no idea the immense pleasure we have gotten out of telling unsuspecting coworkers and nosey aunts.
  • My baby has no name. And it's likely that he'll stay that way forever. My husband is insistent on Robert and I hate Robert but he's refusing to drop it because it's a strange way to honor his granddaddy (it's not his granddaddy's name). We had a girl name picked out and agreed on. I finally got him to agree to middle name Robert and now he's letting me pick out the first name because he wouldn't drop Robert so I had no say in it. I have no idea.
