@tinyhumantoe I don't know all the specifics of that case, but what you said about your sister's boyfriend reinforces for me that there are people who have no business being police officers pursuing that career. On the other hand, I don't know what it's like to put my life on the line everyday, so I have to cut some of these individuals slack (not the police officer who beat up your sister's boyfriend, because that sounds like excessive, unnecessary force).

Oh THT, I have so many feels about the Garner case. That video makes it so clear the police were wrong to me. What happened to your sisters boyfriend and to Garner should not happen. There are policies and procedures. Force is met with force, sure, but this dude was suspected of selling cigarettes. He used no force and he clearly told them he couldn't breathe. They had no suspicion of weapons or any other reason to put their hands on him that forcefully. I'm so heated about it.

I have not watched the video and won't. But from what I have read regarding the officer using a practice banned by the NYPD and coroner citing the cause of death as homicide, I am shocked that it didn't get past the grand jury.

I do have fear for cops being put in prison. That cannot be a good situation for anyone but just because they are a cop shouldn't mean they can use their job as a reason for excessive deadly force and not pay the penalty of jail time. I understand that some situations are going to end in death, but some of these cases are not even borderline if the cop was just doing his job.

@PenelopePond that is so heartbreaking. I don't remember seeing this story before now. I'm not always able to get on as often as I'd like. I hope the mother gets the help she needs. I just don't understand how she could just leave him home alone for one thing and then not be utterly scared shitless when she found out he wasn't where she thought he was.

My sister has told me that there's a kid in her neighborhood that has been out wandering several times at 2, 3, 4 in the morning because his parents are drunk and passed out. The cops have been called several times, but nothing has been done.

We do the big (best) present is from Santa. It is not wrapped and is all set up for Christmas morning. The rest of the gifts are from us. The stocking is from Santa as well.

I had my anatomy scan today. Baby looked good. We had her write the sex in an envelope and we will find out if baby is a he or a she on Saturday with our families. We took DD with us and she just kept pointing to the screen saying, "baby, baby". I haven't had any spotting since 15 weeks, so I'm finally feeling like I can relax a little. Also, my teacher friend gave me a big bag of maternity shirts. Her 2nd and last baby was born 8 wks ago. Yay!

I just wanted to come in here and bitch before I go to bed. **BIG SURPRISE**, me bitching, ha!

My plan with Winn today was to take the day off and really enjoy her. Well..................apparently no such thing as a day off with my job

I feel like such a turd mom because I didn't get to play with her. I had the tv on most of the day. DH got home at 6, and I've had my face in the computer since then trying to get the language written for the bill we want to pass. I feel really bad for people who do this for a living because i pretty much want to jump off a fucking bridge. I'd rather operate a turd vaccuum that sucks the crap out of port-o-pots.

I have my doc appt in the morning, and I have no clean underwear. Guess I'm throwing laundry in at 3am. I hope she doesn't have to do a check on me tomorrow, the 80s is alive and well in my britches.
