this is my second pregnancy and with our 1st we went at 6 weeks but I think I wanna wait maybe a few weeks, so when are you doing your first OB appt?? I'm going to do a blood draw next week and I know all OBs are different as in when they want to see you.
I have a pregnancy class/registration Tuesday morning. They will do blood work that day and schedule my 1st OB appt. I'm hoping to have the OB appt before Christmas. I have Kaiser, so I'm not able to just schedule the appt.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
I have my confirmation appt December 29 at almost 10 weeks. My Dr. doesn't see you before 7 weeks. Unfortunately, they didn't have anything earlier but will call if there is a cancellation. Hoping this one will have better results than the last one we had at 8 weeks.
will hear today when midwife wants to see me, then it will just be for a booking appointment and a dating scan so will be booking that for what I guess would be 7-8 weeks then go back for proper appointment bloods and nt scan at 13 weeks
I'm scheduled for an appointment tomorrow. I'll be 5w2d. I didn't see them until about 9w with DS, so I'm guessing they scheduled me early this time because I had a mc a couple of months ago.
I have to wait for a referral from Tricare (military insurance) to go see my OB for the pregnancy so by the time I receive that & can get an appt scheduled, I'm usually about 7 weeks along. Remember the fetal heart beat doesn't start until about 6w1d.
I'm not sure, I'm calling tomorrow. Per my friends who recommended the practice- you go in pretty quickly after original call (usually within the week) but it's just with a nurse and a pee test/paper work. Then they typically make the first real appt. for around 6 or so weeks.
Dec. 29th here as well, It was the earliest they could see me. I'll be 9 weeks then so at least I'll see more than I did at my son's first ultrasound which was at 7 weeks 3 days. I'm a little bummed the appointment is after Christmas though. I don't feel comfortable announcing to my family until I see a heartbeat but I only see them once a year. Maybe my Doppler will pick something up before my ultrasound.
I'm doing bloodwork on Dec 22 (7w7d) and first visit Dec 30 (9w on the dot). I wouldn't have minded earlier, but I'm actually happy that Christmas won't be entirely hijacked by baby news. I'm telling the immediate families ahead and have already insisted on no baby presents. But after Christmas, assuming (FX) all is well at the appointment, it'll be all about baby
I'm seeing a nurse practitioner on December 3rd because my periods have been irregular and I'm not positive how pregnant I am. I'll be at least 5 weeks and 4 days by then but could be almost double that. I'm also considered high risk so I feel more comfortable that I'll be getting my first appointment done ASAP.
My office schedules for 8 weeks from LMP, but I had scheduling issues that week so I'm not going until 9 weeks from LMP, which I actually think will be closer to the real 8 weeks for me because I believe I ovulated around CD21. So my appointment is scheduled for 12/23. I'm hoping they'll want to do a dating u/s but it usually a seperate appointment and I'm sure it won't be for at least a week after that which makes me sad because I kind of wanted to announce to my parents/brother at Christmas but not without an u/s to confirm we'll see!
I have not called yet, that's on my todo list this week. But last time they told me you have to be at least 8 weeks before they will see you at the ob office I went to last time.
I go Dec. 2 to do all of my history and registration stuff, but my first appointment where they will check me out is Dec. 17. I'm excited and nervous and so is my husband.
@ShellyR 6w3d seems like a good date for a viability scan. The heart will have just started beating so you should be able to see it. For dating I believe they prefer to be about 8 weeks. I will probably be hung a viability scan early like you.
This is a thing? A viability scan? I want one. I'm going to ask my dr when I call tomorrow. I am a lunatic until I can do a 48 hr blood draw and then see s strong heartbeat.
Thanks for letting me know that this may be a possibility!

It might not be but when I was with my RE for my last pregnancy, he had me come in at 7 weeks for a viability scan. Basically making sure there was a heart beat and the pregnancy was viable before sending me off to an ob. He did date the pregnancy but that was just to make sure it was growing according to when I had my IUI.
This time the nurse told me that I would be coming in for an ultrasound earlier than their typical 8 week one and I assume it is to check viability because I have had a loss before. This is not typical and not needed unless you have a history. If I didn't have a history, I wouldn't have had betas done and I wouldn't be getting the earlier ultrasound. There is such a thing as getting an ultrasound too early and all it does is add stress to the mother when there isn't a heartbeat yet because it was just too soon.
This all to say that it is probably not necessary for you to push for an early ultrasound.
Edit: my phone likes the word too...
I've had two losses. I'm going to push for something. I don't know what they'll let me do but I'm calling tomorrow to find out.

I get hopefully my last blood draw on Tuesday. If my numbers are where they want me to be they will schedule an ultrasound for the following week. I think it would be a great early birthday present to see a heartbeat the week before my birthday!
My first apt with my on is 12/12, during week 8. It is my understanding that there is no ultrasound of any type, basically a urine test and an informational and a Q&A period for my DH and I. Is this the norm? I have no idea what to expect.

With my first I had no idea what the appt would be like either. They had me come in at 8 weeks. They did pee test, blood draw, paperwork and medical history with the ob, Pap smear and ultrasound. Every ob is different though and it can depend on the equipment available etc.
I just talked with my doctor's office. I go in on Dec. 16 for a sonogram and bloodwork. I hope it's not too early to see anything. The receptionist called it my 8-week appointment (based on LMP), but I will only be 6 weeks and 3 days, based on ovulation.
@SwivelChair5, I remember you from TTTC boards . Glad to see you here. I'm also going at 6w3d and my concern is that it will be a tad too early for the hb. I'm glad to hear that's when you are going too.

My first appointment is the 16th, she said that would only be cultures. I didn't even think to ask what that means? Does anyone know? She said they don't do u/s until week 12 or 13

Replying to myself. I called and made it! And I go in Wednesday Just a pee test, like I thought. Paperwork and weight. She said at that visit they'll schedule the next with the midwife for around 6 or so weeks.
Not scheduled yet but I have my annual appt in January, so unless he wants to see me sooner will likely be early January. I imagine he will send me for blood work next week since I needed HCG early in the last pregnancy.
Mine is Christmas Eve morning, and I'll be 8w4d. They'll do an U/S at that appointment, but I was surprised to find out that they don't do blood work before that.
Mine is 12/11, which will put me at about 6 and a half weeks. That is just an office visit and then they'll send me for an ultrasound. I'm hopeful it's a quick turnaround for the ultrasound since I'm super anxious.
