Subchorionic hemorrhage

I just called my doctors office to ask about my ultrasound from last week since I hadn't heard anything yet...I heard the heartbeat and everything looked ok except I did get pushed back a week. The nurse said I had a small tear and that it would just be something to keep an eye on...wondering if any other ladies have had this to and how did everything turn out?!

Re: Subchorionic hemorrhage

  • I had some bright red spotting a few weeks ago and it scared me. It went away right away, but they had me come in for an ultrasound a couple days later just to check. Baby was good, saw the heartbeat, found out I had 2 subchorionic bleeds. My doctor told me they were common and I have a follow up ultrasound on Friday. I've had some very light spotting here and there but nothing today.

  • I have experienced this this pregnancy with 2 SCHs & my previous pregnancy. You may experience some bleeding. That could be anything from spotting to heavy flow like a period. Your doctor should have told you to limit your activity & put you on pelvic rest (no lifting heavy things, no sex). If they didn't, I would follow up with them to see what kind of restrictions they want. Usually SCHs resolve in a few weeks & pose very little threat to the pregnancy. My loss last pregnancy was completely unrelated to the SCH & so far this baby is doing just fine.

  • at my first ultrasound and ob appointment on friday she said I had a small subchorionic hemorrhage at 2 cm and that it should go away. I've had no spotting or cramping and still have my normal first trimester symptoms. I'm assuming it wasn't a big deal since she told me as I was leaving.
  • @kales0719‌ @Ajm11‌ @beckynsean11‌ @amoring‌ thanks so much ladies it's nice to hear similar situations to ease my mind a little! I have had cramping and bleeding about 3 weeks ago and thought the worst and was in limbo for awhile but my levels were great and just had the ultrasound last week and everything but that looked good...thanks again for sharing! :)
  • I just got a follow up call from my ob office and was told I have one. it caught me way off guard since I haven't had any bleeding or cramping. I didn't ask any questions but have my follow up appt with my doctor next week. anyone put themselves on pelvic rest, or are you just going about things normally?

  • @MrsRabb‌ ...I had one at 7 weeks and the ER told me pelvic rest and I also put myself on extra rest and didn't do anything strenuous at all. I took it very easy. What I really feel made a difference also is the amount of water I drank. I probably drank 2 gallons everyday. Yes I was in the bathroom every 10 minutes, but I heard water (staying hydrated) helps. When I went back 2 weeks later for an US, there was no sign of it. I didn't have any bleeding or spotting as well so they said that meant my body absorbed it. I freaked out when I found out also, but all was ok and I'm sure you will be too.

  • I found out today that I have a small SCH too. I'm trying not to stress. I had like 2 drops of blood and no cramping, so at this pt they aren't concerned. Doc also told me I didn't have to change anything. I could cook and clean for thanksgiving, etc. I go in to see her in 2 days, so as long as my symptoms don't get worse, I'm doing OK. Was reading about these online and it looks like research shows that only 1-3% end in miscarriage, and of those most are due to large SCH. Also research shows there is no know cause, and nothing that mother did wrong caused this. And that baby is unaffected (unless miscarriage). :) FX for all of us!!
  • I just found out I have a subchorionic hematoma last week when I started spotting. They gave me an ultrasound the next day and saw it. I got good pictures of the the baby :-). This is very scary because I've had a miscarriage and placenta previa with my only child. I'm just praying for a healthy pregnancy. I spotted some this week too but my doctor did not seem concerned when zi called. They have not put me on any restrictions.

Doc said I was fine, and I can keep running! She's not worried at all at this pt I won't miscarry. She said i may keep having some minor spotting until its all gone. She told me it's OK to tell ppl we're pregnant! :) I hope everyone else gets good news! FX!
