Final Name Decision?

Re: Final Name Decision?

  • @wolowizard‌ if we have another boy it might be Greyson because it is a nice name. Depends on popularity. I just didn't exactly work too hard on defending it with my aunt because I had been working on Levi and now he won't stop calling the baby Levi when he talks to him. He says he actually really liked it when he started thinking about yelling it on the playground, through the neighborhood etc he just wasn't ready to admit it because he was an ass about it. Lol. And I mean huge ass.

  • @be888‌ I love August! Gus for short?
@KateRN08‌ Hudson is really sweet, love that.

We chose boy and girl names before this one was conceived. If she would have been a boy, the name we chose was Kaen, pronounced cane. Husband chose that one, I wasn't completely convinced. Since she is a girl, I'm not going to reveal until she's born. Top Secret!

  • We're waiting to find out the sex but we've settled on names! Kingston Brock or Matilda Blair! Unsure of the girl middle name though...it's the same as mine.

If we have a girl, her name will be Eva. If it turns out it's a boy it will be a neverending struggle with my man, I hate all of his boy name suggestions. I'd name him Niko!

I really like Nico/Niko. Relating it to sports always helps my DH with names. If your man is into sports, casually mention Nico Johnson. He's was a pretty great football player in college and now plays in the NFL. Or try Nicholas. You could always call him Nico then :)

  • @knjzacher Gus is definitely the nn we would use if we use one. I don't like the nn Auggie. I'm curious about the name you have picked!

  • We have decided on Emma :)  Her middle name will probably be Catherine (DH likes Katherine, I like the C spelling) .... but now I kind of like Emma Charlotte.

  • My fiance and I have decided on naming our son Gabriel Ayden-Li. He's not due til April but we had been deciding on names since we started trying. We were happy when we found out we were having a boy. :)
  • We have decided to name our little girl Harper Lynn. We weren't sure at first but we both loved the name and even searching through others, it stuck.  :D

  • H and I find out the sex next week, but we've already found a couple names!
For a girl, either Adalyn Elizabeth or Natalie Ann..
For a boy, we love Isaac Benjamin. So strong.. Sounds like he could run a country or something. :D

It's all just family names smushed together with names we actually like haha.

We also know a new baby boy named Maverick which just sounds cool.. But I feel like I'm shooting myself in the foot and foreshadowing the birth of a hell raiser..

  • We are having a boy and for some reason I think boys names are harder. We have it narrowed down to 4, if you can call that narrowed down lol.

    We like Oliver Mason
Greyson John (John is both of our brothers names)
    Emmett John or Davis
    Graham Elliot

We may wait to see him and decide!

@Lynze06, I felt boys names were harder too! If this baby was a boy, I wanted to name him after my Dad, and I told DH unless he could come up with a better option, that would be it. Because I HATE boys names!

As for your choices, I like Oliver and Emmett the best :)

  • We find out the sex on Tuesday but have been thinking about names since we conceived. For a girl, Emmeline Lee or Imogen Lee. For a boy, William Eldine.
  • Agreed on the boys names. We fought about it since we first got pregnant until a couple days ago. I hate boys names.

Ugh I've had a girl name set for years because I'm a crazy person but H wanted an Italian name for a boy. He wants Vincent which is fine but Vinny! With the Philly accent around here! *cringe*

Does he realize how difficult it is to find an Italian boy name that isn't as common as Anthony but isn't as ridiculous as Guido?! His dad's name is Giuseppe! Sorry all the Lorenzo's and Mario's and Giuseppe's of the world, but no thank you! Not for me. Too much like a pizza place or the cast of jersey shore.

I always wished I was Italian so I could use the name Gaetano. I've loved that name since the first time I heard it several years ago.

  • We are having a boy….DH wants an Italian name but is being super uncooperative and keeps pitching VERY italian things that nobody can even pronouce.  I may stab him soon.  Girl names we were good to go…boy not so much.  My favorite has always been Michael but he has like 6 in his family already.  I like:
    Anthony
Dominick (worried this would turn into Nick which is DH's name)
    Caleb
    Cameron

We are definitely in the "this baby will never have a name" club.

We've liked Emilia Kay /Amelia Kay or Stella Kay. I really liked Lila Kay, but aparently my husband's grandpa was married to a lyla way back when that no one liked.... so that threw a damper there.

We're pretty sure we want Caliber. Caliber John? Taking after dad and grandpa. We want something that flows, nothing choppy.

@crichter18, This name is so, so bad for more reasons than it just sounds awful. What if your kid doesn't end up liking guns? What if he tries to get hired somewhere someday and the person in charge is anti-gun or lost someone they loved to a tragic shotgun accident? Whether we like it or not, people judge others by their names sometimes, and you are doing your kid a world of disservice by giving them such a polarizing name. But, judging from your "pregnancy is..." Post, you don't think of anyone's needs or feelings but your own.
I don't see Caliber being any worse than Gunnar or Gunner or whatever or even Remington people like the name Remi. Caliber can also mean the quality of someone's personality. Dh being a gun fanatic my mind goes right to lots of different barrels but not sure the average person would.

I don't like the name, just saying I don't think it's worse than other.

I have to agree with @RHoPA1109 regarding Caliber being very bad. Gunnar is a male name of Nordic origin. Its English equivalent is Roland, where Gunner is a poorly spelled and pronounced version of Gunnar. Remi/Remy is a legit name on it's own mainly in French.

Except Gunnar is an actual Scandinavian name with roots and history. I'd side-eye Remington as well.
Unless you are naming your kid after Remington Steele.

  • I know that it is a legitimate name still doesn't mean you don't hear the word gunner when you hear it. I just don't think Caliber would be the only name that could be a trigger to someone.
  • We have top contenders. Mila Celeste or Norah Elise/Elyse (don't know the proper spelling) for a girl and Lucas Grey for a boy. We also really really really want Eden for a boy but I'm worried about it being too feminine. It can be pronounced E-den or ED-en to make it a little more masculine. It seems to be a popular UK name for males. We also like Silas and Micah
Love both Mila Celeste and Lucas Grey.  I put MIla high on my list for a girl too!
  • I'm not 100% but I'm leaning towards Magnolia Paige and would likely call her Nola. My other dd is Ainsley Kathleen. Magnolia/Nola are steeped in family history and her sister chose Paige as the middle name.

For a boy it would have been Colston Prescott.
  • I also really like Lucas Grey. Good name!!
  • Ever since we found out we're having a girl, I've been drooling over every boy name I hear.
I hear they don't let you leave the hospital without naming a baby, so I guess we'll have a name by then.
It was easier with DS because we had a family name DH wanted for years so I finally agreed on that. Lol.
  • We've had ours picked out for a while. Baby girl's name is Amelia Evabelle ("eevah-bell") (my grandmother's name is Eva.) My mother has already told me she HATES baby Mia's middle name and should just have it be Belle. I told her I appreciate her opinion but it wasn't changing anything. She was shocked, as I've never not taken advice from her and pretty much done what she's wanted... I figure it's time to put my foot down, since this is my kid and all...

Evabelle is beautiful and unique! Mom shouldn't care too much because it is a middle name (not to mention YOUR baby).
  • Lots of thought has been or into our little guy. I loved having the same first and last initial growing up, except there's not a lot of good W names (William had been used 3 times in my family already and sounds funny with our last name). Our son will be Wes W. Not Westley or Weston, Wes. :-)

I had never heard the name Juno until you, @frownyface but every time you say (type) it, I just love it!
We're going with Anistyn Kate and Karsyn Lane. DH has been in love with Anistyn for years, and I've always loved Kate and loved the fact that putting the together would give her his initials. My middle name/ Mom's maiden name is Lane so I knew I wanted to incorporate that somehow. He randomly said Karsyn out loud while we were driving down the road one day and that was it! Without even realizing that Karsyn will also have my initials!

How do you pronounce them? Anistin and Karsin?

Yes mam.. I know, I know, the spelling is.. different. BUT, my theory with Anistyn with a Y is that the "original" spelling is Anniston and I just couldn't get on board with that much name for some reason? And H decided that since Anistyn had a "Y" that Karsyn needed a "Y" because he felt like Karson or Carson was too boy'ish? Moral of that story is that I really didn't know DH looked that far into it haha.

No offense to your name choices, just some food for thought. Growing up with a different name myself I got so fed up with correcting people that I just use my nickname. It's sad because my full name is beautiful if said correctly.
  • We have a Tayler Mackenzie (13 girl)And a Jorden Thomas(10boy)This sweet guys name will be Dylen James!
  • Adryan Nicole is our LO 1st and Middle names...and we are SO in love with it :) i can't wait to meet her and hold her and smell her sweet baby breath and kiss her soft forhead!...i am ALWAYS dreaming of her now :)

Not true. You have up until 10 days after the birth to declare a name for your baby. You actually have more, but the hospital has to send records to SS on day ten, so if you decide after that you end up paying a fee.

This is coming from the mother who took 9 days after her son was born to finally decide on his name.
Names are so hard for us. We will probably be the parents who leave the hospital again with a no named child, here's hoping we decide by day 8!
  • We're having so much trouble picking out a girl's name! We already had a boy's name decided and of course found out we're having a girl! The only name H has said he likes is Lydia, which I like too, but for some reason I'm not totally sold on it. We've also talked about Anna or Leanna, but neither of us are in love with anything. #-o

We're going to name him Abel but are undecided on the middle name. He is wanting it to be George, after his father who passed away. But Abel George??? NMS...

I LOVE Abel. Still trying to get H on board. We know our MN will be Joseph (H's MN) and I think Abel Joseph sounds great together. Just a suggestion ;)

  • We've decided on Chloe Elizabeth. We both really like Chloe and we are going with Elizabeth in honor of my mom.
  • We've decided mapley for a middle name , ( good strong Scottish name that my husband has as one of his middle names) and we are torn between Owen, Henry or Jacob as a first , I like Jacob mapley all three names work ... I guess we still have a little time to figure it out
  • We like Zachary Richard for a boy and Natalie Lee for a girl. We told our family and friends and they all love and support our names. We are team green tho so we will have to wait to find out if he or she is a Zachary or Natalie!
  • I voted yes, even though we don't find out what we're having until next week.

Boy name is definitely done: Read Patrick

Girl name in MY mind is totally done but DH is still waffling on it (I'm not worried, he will come around ;)):  Brynne Christine
